Played the first 3 games of Knizia's My City with Pops, pretty fun little puzzle game considering it's pure multiplayer solitaire.

>>97839954Ah damn I wanted to use that pic for my session report. Eh doesn't matter. So I braved the cursed 5p session and played a bunch of different games.>SantiagoIt's as good as people say it is, suprisingly so. Not that big on pure negotiation games, largely because even in the best cases (like chinatown) they tend to exhaust me far more than a mathsy euro or stressful realtime game ever could. Santiago sidesteps this in an interesting way, on closer inspection it's a bizzarely eurofyed version of negotiation. You can negotiate, but not freely exchange resources and the spotlight is always on one person that makes the decision, eliminating the frantic shouting over each other and jockeying for attention, which also means there's no need for a timer to keep it short like in chinatown. First game took around 75 minutes and could realistically go down to 45. Not much to say, it's pretty good and very cutthroat, and I merely scratched the surface of how to play well. Rightfully a classic and I will prefer it to all other negotiation games in the future. Problem is that it allegedly is only really good with 5p.>AgricolaHad a new player (who is a bit of a brainlet) on the table so drafting was out of the question. Still enjoyed it because Agricola is just fucking awesome, but the draft is clearly what elevates the game. Didn't much feel the high player count, bit over 2h. I wish there was a comeback of more brutal euros like this, where your first game should just be about "try to not starve". Finally going over the edge from barely making it to actually having an engine run and being able to do more than survive is so statisfying. I expected 5p to be far longer, and it's very interesting how adding a few spaces changes the games dynamic a lot.>Ra5p sees the players with a little too little control than I'd like but it's still phenomenal. Ra might just be best at 3.>cont.

let's say I have 5 tarellians and 5 barghesi from that one box set, don't ask me how I got them, would you say this unit of 10 is a good kill team: Tarellian Dog Soldiers? It feels like most pets in kill team are usually like one or two and then a kill team of 5-9 guys though. But the barghesi aren't actually dogs either, they're just aliens who got enslaved by other aliens.
>>97839417I remember there was a brief moment in 2023 when that was cheap as fuck, like as low as 110 bucks free shipping, then suddenly people were scalping it for 200 bucks or more. I hate ebay. That part of 2023 went by really fast too.

Been thinking a lot about this>So the warp, as the realm of souls, originally was a creation of the old ones as a weapon against the necrontyr in the war of heaven. It allowed not only a means for the Aeldari and Krorks to use psychic powers, but also cheat death and allow them to respawn infinitely. >But after the war in heaven the warp is destabilized due to the negative emotions, death, and general usage. There's no more old ones to fix it either.>Now the "warp" sends those same negative emotions at the Aeldari who in turn start going crazy. They start doing their murder orgies, but it's not really fair to blame them as they are influenced by the warp. The same thing is known to happen to human psykers as well. The warp make psykers, especially untrained ones, crazy and emotional. In long terms it uses them to gain more power and access to realspace. REMEMBER THIS.>This creates a feedback loop where the the negative emotions make the mortals crazy and in turn have the negative emotions to fuel the warp. Ultimately resulting in slaanesh. khorne nurgle and tzeentch are likely started in the war in heaven, but finished during humanity's early era when human psykers start showing up.Con

>>97839905yeah I find the 4 cost rika can be a bit clunky, its by far ur best tamer and provides insane value, but you never want 2 of them on board thus you never want to see 2 of themso ideally you run the card at 2, but the problem is that at 2 copies you don't see it enough in time, so you run 3 and just use the others as a free card you can trash for certain things (as niche as it is that comes up, st renamon is the only way you can do that from your end but that isn't the most common situation) but I think its very easy to just run it at 2 and not expect to see her every game.my list is for my playstyle, ratios should be changed for what plays you find yourself making more and towards your own playstyle.the plug-ins are a pretty niche thingthe blue one is obviously the best one in a vaccuum, red is great for certain things as well but its link effect is just strictly worse so it kinda feels not as good.black is obviously far worse, except that the black plug-in is often your only answer or gives a lot better options in certain situations. For example 2 of them were really good earlier as it massively improved the hudiemon match up, with 0 chitose they were unable to attack past you as you could just block and they didn't have enough DP neg, with a single chitose they needed to use up a shakkoumon before swinging and required 2 chitose to get the job done. your goal was to make 1 maid mode, get a chip in, then make a 2nd stack and kill them with that, so you were stalling for a turn inbetween and hoping to not die. Except if they were not fully setup and couldn't clear the maid mode you basically just instantly won the game and it gave a significant improvement to the hudie match up.RK is a similar one where it massively improves the match upsit makes styracco struggle a lot more as well and setup double kill situationsso while I don't think its that strong, I also find it invaluable in so many match upsyou should play what fits you though
>>97839910its insane when it pops offI played it a bit, its quite funbut its a far more difficult deck to pilot than most (without a massively big return) and if you even slightly brick you get very stalled out, and its a very prone to bricking deck with a lot of the cards it needs to run.it also isn't even cheap of a deck as some of the SR's go for a decent chunk so I am not surprised it isn't popularIts a single wave of support from being insane though and hugely oppressive
>>97840015if your opening hand sucks you are probobly not playing the game, yeah. If you have a decent hand you get to weave your deck to prevent bricking. I would say its less prone to bricking than imperial or sneed mille

Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Hi,I am only now playing Amnesia: The Bunker and I am amazed just how much in apperance and lore the Monster from game resembles Flesh Eater Courts. The Monster from game is actually a type of ghoul per lore. The Monster was once Augustin Lambert, who had been transformed into a powerful Ghoul like creature due to the drinking water tainted by a otherworldly substance called Vitae ( this reminded me of Kingsblood "wine"). It is a cannibal monstrosity that stalks the tunnels of game, reminded me of how, for example, a Varghulf would act in closed spaces. It makes its home and sleeps in the Chapel, decorated with gruesome half devoured corpses. The design of Monster eyes and those immense fangs that make its toothy maw for some strange reason deeply reminds me of Blisterskin court art. In the Blisterskin court art, the ghoul has a semi dreamy/melancholy eyes filled with pure tragedy. Such a powerful imagery.

Brawling and Karate parries are at -1.Everything else seems to be correct.Note that these rules seem OK for knives and tonfa, but are dubious for most other weapons. Swords are not balanced for use in one-handed reverse grips (should probably have a skill penalty, or increase ST) while spears shouldn't get reduced reach (one-handed spear use already assumes a large portion of the shaft behind the gripping hand) nor a bonus to deceptive attacks (if anything, a reversed grip with a spear makes your moves more obvious).

Should casters be able to hold their own in a fight, or should they be balanced around requiring protection from martial classes?
>>97837547ThisCasters should have a theme and if being able to defend themselves fits the theme they should be able to do that, and if it doesn't they shouldn'tIf your caster is a magical scholar of some sort like a wizard, then no they shouldn't be able to throw a punch better than any other nerd. That's not part of the theme of being a wizard. Other themes like a sci-fi technomancer, or an alchemist, or a magical deal-maker or summoner, or a seer or oracle, or a magical performer or bard, or a religious scholar or cleric, or a necromancer, also should not being able to defend themselves. That's not part of what their theme is, even if some of these thematic casters get to defend themselves in DnD logically speaking they shouldn't. They might have spells to defend themselves but frankly some of these like the cleric, bard, oracle, or alchemist should not be combat classes with any offensive magic at all.If your caster is some sort of cultivator or magic martial artist or element-bender, if they're some sort of crusading zealot with a god's blessing, if they're some sort of animist or shapeshifter or shaman with a martial bent then yes they should be able to defend themselves. But frankly, TTRPGs need less of a combat focus and more classes which are entirely non-combat.
>>97831141This looks like shit.
>>97831141>Should casters be able to hold their own in a fight, or should they be balanced around requiring protection from martial classes?Casters needing a tank to handle aggro is too video gamey for me. I'd just rather have no full casters and have everyone be some kind of martial.
>>97831141Traditional games?
>>97839996Because of my pension for solo gaming I basically built all my solo characters like this more or less.Even the most martial of martial has some utility magic or equivalent for the setting, and the most bookish of mages has at least basic competence with mundane arms before going out into the world. Super specialized roles works best for large parties but the smaller the party the more every pc needs to be generally competent and well rounded even if they have one area that they are experts. All that said this thread is pretty lame and the question really really lazy.
