The effectiveness of the Second Inquisition can vary depending on what the V5 ST wants to throw at the group, but that doesn't change the fact the Second Inquisition at its canonical peak effectiveness, holding nothing back, is capable of some absolutely retarded shit.

Yeah, I think this meme is the opposite of reality. I tlike reading CofD lore, but mechanically, I feel like every game has some annoying half-baked gimmick that keeps me from it.
>>
>>97183955
Elaborate.
>>
>>97183944
It's even worse than that.
>Every potential feeding target could be a plant with engineered anti-vampire viruses coursing through their veins who will implant your vampire with a GPS chip so that a fireteam can track them down and finish the job.
>Anyone who your vampire ghouls could be bagged by the Second Inquisition whenever you're not watching, deprogrammed and immunised to the blood bond, making them the perfect double agent to lure your vampire into a trap.
>Every vampire that your vampire interacts with could be a Second Inquisition mark who is already implanted with a GPS chip and listening bug and even if they aren't, they could be bagged by the Second Inquisition and interrogated, revealing everything that they know about your vampire.
>Every possible haven could be a trap designed by the Second Inquisition to serve as an ideal vampire lair and is already filled to the brim with spy cameras and listening bugs, so that they can remotely activate the red gas dispensers when your vampire is enjoying a little daysleep and ash them effortlessly.
Only way to escape from the Second Inquisition is to go full innawoods and live off of the local wildlife, but in V5 that limits your vampire to Blood Potency 1 and such a vampire only works as an NPC.

I don't think you need glowies to kill /tg/, it was just a result of normies infesting the internet and "hustle/grift culture" preying upon the previous culture of free, creative collaboration this place had. Neckbeardia and his copycats did far more damage to this board than Mossad or the CIA ever could.

Hell, I've seen it happen firsthand. I had a friend who made a thread for people to describe their favorite TRPG PCs and NPCs that held a special place in their heart abd was actually bothering to discuss and elaborate with anyone who contributed. And within 24 hours Neckbeardia had made a video about the thread that slandered all the posters as creepy waifu obsessed incels via cherry picking and bad faith commentary. He swore off the board for good after that one.

thinking back to the Fulgrim novel, i's amazing how fucking boring the first half is up until he gets the sword. You have to deal with boring ass art shitters, the word "perfect" being used ever other word sentence and a story that goes nowhere. The second half maks up for it hard but it's such a fucking slog to get to that point that I understand why people say skip it.

>Do you want to play as: Human, Tall Better Human, Half-Better Human, Dwarf, Short Human, Short Ugly Human or Animal Fucker?
>BY GUM WHY DOES EVERYONE JUST PLAY HUMAN, ELF OR DWARF?
What do the midget races, dwarf aside, have over elves? The absolute best representation any of the short-arse races ever got was Hobbits in LotR, and even there you have delivery boy, delivery boy's buddy and the great pair who are nonetheless dismissed as silly comic relief. If I want to be a DEX guy, I can be an elf and not have to put up with whatever wee man penalty.
>>
You already said it all with "little folk". They're "silly funny little dudes". Nobody takes them seriously, they're basically joke races. What portrayals have you seen of Halflings, Gnomes, etc that weren't some combination of "Aww, the widdle guy's doing human stuff, how epic!" or "Woah, that's really impressive for one of THOSE!"
Even when the writer is trying to present one well, it amounts to "he did something as well as a human might, despite being wor- different". Always either some twee fondness angle, or some overturning expectations thing, or both.
>>
I'm pretty sure a lot of people's suspension of disbelief just can't deal with the idea of small races being able to pull off basic adventuring feats physically.
>>
>>97183889
No, the weird part is how many people do want to play Animal Fucker.

So all the chaos gods have an animal that represent them with some thematic purposes behind it
>Khorn
Has Canis, pack animals that follows the strongest and can be very ferocious animals who rips their prey apart. Makes sense for the god of blood and combat
>Tzeench
Birds, again makes sense because he's a god of trickery and planning and birds are always around spying on you. Hearing and watching what you do
>Slaneesh
Snakes, again makes sense because snakes can be very beautiful creatures but they also pack a deadly venom that will kill
>Nurgle
Frogs, why? They aren't exactly creatures associated with death, diseases, rebirth or even nature itself. So why frogs?

Best system for analog horror kind of stories?
Or modern SCP shit.
>>
How do you guys feel about decoy antagonists?
I'm probably gonna be doing the basic weirdo coastal town and I have 3 separate communities which each could be hiding the cult and each have a reason to want the players gone.
For each I've mapped out various layers of secrets they hold and how they interconnect and bear part of the blame for the spooky happenings (Allowing my players to shift their focus naturally to the real culprits), but ultimately only one group is aware of what is actually happening.
No matter which group they investigate they'll find something. And im thinking I'll do something where yea each group is hiding something but if they spend too long investigating so as to find the wrong deeply hidden truth the real baddies will accomplish their goal.
>>
>>97179559
>analog horror kind of stories?
Maybe I'm retarded, but what the fuck does this even mean? I always though analog horror was defined by it's presentation, not the content of the story. It almost feels like asking what the best system would be for found footage horror.

They are too difficult; do normal puzzles, normally. Instead of repeating, choose a theme and solve a bunch of similar puzzles until you are confident that you'll recognize that thematic situation in a real game.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

>I would never call Mark Twain "Samuel Langhorne Clemens" or George Orwell "Eric Arthur Blair", that would be retarded.
I mean, you just did, and for a very non-retarded reason. As much as I get your point, and it's correct, you're overdoing it.

>But Jacqauys' case is different: He adopted the Jennel pen name very late in his career, and all of his work that I ever reference was published as Paul. I'm not rewriting history.
This is exact and to the point, on the other hand.
>>
>>97183659
Honestly, if trans people were fake, if their identity was a lie, I think they'd have given up after all the things people like you say, the laws that have come onto the books, and the level of violence they've received. The strongest case for them to be real is the amount of work they have to do to survive you, when it's easier to just give it up and live the life you ask of them.
>>
>>97183831
You're arguing against a strawman, nobody has made the points you're arguing against or asked anybody to live any particular life.

Also, you're being dramatic and overly simplistic: There's a bunch of different types of trans people, you can't lump them all together into one category.
>People who actually have gender dysmorphia,
>autogynephiles who are demanding that people share in their sexual kink,
>gay and lesbian kids who are confused and mistaking their sexual orientation for a gender identity,
>teenage girls who identify as trans because of social contagion like anorexia a couple decades ago,
>people with cluster B personality disorders who claim to be trans to harm and manipulate others.
These are all extremely different cases.

Last but not least, adult trans people (of all kinds) can and should live the life they want to live, but likewise nobody has to play along with all of their demands. And it's odd of you to bring up violence when, in the last decade, all of the state violence has been directed at people for speaking up against the more authoritarian brands of trans activism and for women's rights in sports and to safety.
>>
>>97183865
And some of the cases above need to be protected against themselves and widespread medical malpractice.
>>

For each different pair of characters, roll on the following table:

>5: exes(*)
>6: mutual respect
>7: heated rivalry
>8: friendly rivalry

There goes my run. Was still at level 1 for everyone but it was going pretty well until now.

The best games I discovered as a kid on the couple of old shovelware discs I found lying around were Mordor, early graphics Exile (now Avernum) 1 and 2, and Warpath97. I've been wanting to find another game like Mordor since - and have played a fair bit of the last one the guy made, Demise - but I've only really been able to be satisfied with a solo rpg amalgam

I got Riftbreakers 2e as a gift and I have to say, the combat is pretty damn fun.

I have some gripes though and they have nothing to do with the system and lots with soloing it and the in game tables.

So, hexcrawling is functional but the tables in the game eventually feel very repetitive. Same with the monsters. This and plenty of other mechanically heavy solo games often lack instructions and guidance on how to make your own content. How do you usually deal with this without breaking the system?

Normal people:

Wizards of the Goatse:

Why are they like this?

It's difficult to explain why exactly I dislike it so much. It would be fine as a novel way of giving characters titles if they hadn't overused it to death. It's become all the more obnoxious with the crossover sets and proliferation of commander because now every second card uses this convention

If you are really asking, it's because it's easier to find cards in a database if you give them the same qualified (The character's name) and then the titles to specify which version of the card you are looking for.

It would be incredibly annoying to find a specifc Jace card, for example, if he was called "Mind Sculptor Jace" rather than just Jace, the Mind Sculptor, or at least was when it was only the gatherer and physical booklets to find cards. Of course, now it's much simpler with scryfall and such, but now it's a standard they have no reason to change now.

Felt cute, decided to run through another retro licensed choose-your-own-adventure. But first...

ATTENTION MODS - THIS IS NOT A QUEST THREAD, BUT A GAMEBOOK STORYTIME

Okay, now that that's out of the way, let's begin...
