Has anyone actually watched the Blacktalon show? I'm not paying for it (paying for Warhammer+ lmao) but I am curious about the quality or lack-thereof since Blacktalon stories are either fairly good or utterly shit.
>>96477985The stories are paper thin, the soundtrack is unmemorable and the animation looks like it was produced on a budget of shoestrings and saltine crackers. Some of the backgrounds are nice, and the voice acting ranges from decent to quite good. Although sometimes the audio mix will be a bit uneven. It's not a bad way to spend ~20 minutes if you're watching it for free and want to consume something AoS, either just to pass the time or to have something to post about ITT.Special shoutout to Andrew Spooner who voices Hendrick in the show. He's great.

>>96474463The majority of the adventure takes place throughout the outer planes of law and chaos, which I wrote took the form of a giant ring around the prime material plane. So it looks like a ringworld when stood upon.
>>96467887>Are there any 3rd party materials that you love for this?Tome of Alchemy. Specifically the essence system, because it lets you turn D&D into Monster Hunter.ToA basically breaks down how much in materials you can harvest from monsters by HD and Type. You can use this essence as a substitute for Gold in the creation of magic items of the same type as the essence, essentially letting you build that +5 flaming sword of doom by forging it with a red dragons teeth. Like MH, this results in players hunting down monsters because they need 24 cockatrice foreskins for their next outfit.
>>96474115Damn son, impressive. Why not write a novel about the adventure tho, like the Lodoss guys? You never know, it might catch on
>>96466267Continuing with Dragonmech - what shapes would be reasonable to use for mechs while adding advantages/disadvantages to them? Off the top of my head:Walker - standard humanoidCentaur - faster, but clumsierDrider - can skitter to the sides, but has spindly legsCrawler - has no arms, but can skitter to the sides AND has thick legsAnd I'm not sure adding worm or yuan-ti like mechs is a good idea since there isn't really much to differentiate them stat wise from drider/walker or crawler.

Current meta is absolutely atrocious. Cathay is retard tier. Nuln outrider spam and dwarf expeditionary gyro spam belong in 40K and.both flavors of undead are busted. High elves, Bret and chaos can keep up but it’s a bad time for people who still believe this is a rank and flank game and not who can run and gun with a big flying melee threats. I want to play state troops and not feel like a retard for having more than 1 token blockThe game is better under 1.5 but either ranged stuff is overall undercosted or many of the melee infantry stuff is over costed. It’s pretty shocking the only points changes they did were for a ring and Pegasus after over a year of this game

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). >>96477882>places to get cheap models?Like in bulk or genuinely cheap? If you want some not!40k models that MIGHT be fitting then try the Death Fields stuff from Wargames Atlantic. They are basically historical era minis with a sci-fi flavouring. I wish I knew of more places.
>>96477882Try getting miniatures second-hand or from third party producers. Some examples are:-Wargames Atlantic for Imperial Guard -Mantic Games for Orks, Squats, Demons and maybe something else-Scibor Miniatures for Space MarinesThen there's the option of print-on demand services: you basically tell them what and how to 3d-print, provide the files and they do It. It's a bit expensive, but less than GW stuff. Also, never buy stuff directly from GW, as some 3rd party retailers offer a decent to good discount.

>>96477015In fairness, that was probably more a trickster-archetype move than a "Fuck anything that moves"-archetype move. Primarily because of the way Gilgamesh frames it, as a betrayal of the lion and the horse, making the former weak enough for humans to kill and the latter docile enough for humans to tame. Given the Epic has Gilgamesh's rejection incorporate many other distortions of prior narratives, this suggests his claim of her sleeping with THE lion and THE horse is from a now-lost story where she, as the embodiment of urbanized civilization, sleeps with either the deity or collective spirit of those animals so as to make them useful or less threatening to humanity. All of which is to preface that the anon you quote can't be Ishtar, because Ishtar likes to fuck humans and humanoid gods, and anon doesn't. So anon can't be her, QED
>>96477898It's wild to think that people were mourning the death of the frontier spirit and the banality of modernity all the way back before the fucking Bronze Age.The more things change, the more they stay the same.
>>96477892Exists to merk Gohan?
>>96477922Yeah, the whole Epic kinda revolves around the question of whether its really better to live in a (urbanized and agrarian) society, or to exist as an autonomous individual in the wild. The end conclusion is pretty decisively in the "You loose some stuff to live with others, but what you get is worth it" school of thought, but it takes the time to wax poetic about all the masculine strength and autonomy living in a society requires you to give up. On the surface the rejection of Ishtar by Gilgamesh is a repudiation of her (and I could go on for a long time about the text and subtext of that), but when you get down to it it's more about Gilgamesh refusing to accept that his fate is to someday die, and that he actually has obligations to his subjects. He wants the benefits of kingship without the costs, and he wants to forever live the ancient frat-bro life with Enkidu. Which, well, isn't how things work. Both Enkidu and less explicitly, but pretty clearly all the same, Gilgamesh learn to accept both the costs that come with living with others, and the benefits of leaving behind a legacy, but it takes till Enkidu's death and for Gilgamesh loosing the flower that would return to him his youth....also, we have ancient tablets from before 2000 BC lamenting the arrogance of the youth, how they refuse to listen to or respect their elders, how 'every man wants to write a book' and how surely the world will soon end with all the moral degeneracy in society. Humans really, really never change, we will be bitching about the same stuff 10,000 years in the future if we're still around, while simultaneously thinking that we're infinitely better than our ancestors even as we keep stepping on the same rakes.
>>96476934Mostly based, because I don't mind humanoids, but it mostly depends on the design
What TTRPG system has the best combat in your opinion? What makes it shine compared to other systems out there?
>>96466429It's incredibly slow compared to D&D, especially if you have players who refuse to think their moves in advance
>>96475351NTA but even in DND 5e you're still referencing pages and pages of rules for a basic melee attack, you're just so familiar with them that you don't realise. The basis of calculating whether you have advantage/disadvantage, which stat you add, how you calculate that stat, whether you add your proficiency bonus and how much that bonus is, whatever the enemy's AC is, and the rule consequences or each dice roll all require reference to multiple separate pages of rules.
>>96466207All the classes played the same pretty much in 4e

Have you ever roleplayed a character with a spouse around, not just one that died in their backstory? Did they join in as an actual character and if so, how did your gm balance you having an extra helper?
>>96476838Yes, lots of times. In fact in most of my games that's something the character tries to do because that would be in character for them. Though obviously it depends on the setting and character. L5R, ACKS, Bodil's Gap almost certainly. Shadowrun, not so much.
>>96476838I once played a battlesmith artificer with a steel defender refluffed as an autistic robot girl that all the other party members first assumed he was using for sex. They dropped the assumptions after seeing how he treated her more like a sidekick/protege/sibling. He is obsessed with everything relating to knights, chivalry, dragons, and everything magitek.Soon enough, the party started shipping him with a sentient magitek ghost ship that finds his antics endlessly frustrating, and a dragon girl rune knight from 500 years ago who the party unfroze from cryosleep during a raid on a cultist base.
