>>

You could easily just make some paper markers for the mines/comms device/ammo cache, but the dimensions of the actual barricades/razor wire/etc do matter
Maybe you could make some card standees or something?

I have some very thin guage enamel coated copper wire used for tiny magnetic windings.
I can't say that's the BEST option, but I'm planning to do something along the lines of picrel and it seems like a good option, it can be formed, and is tiny enough for it not to look stupid like the aluminum wires I have. If anything it might be too tiny.

Also that guy wants to invent "afterburners" because he is playing a flying race and wants a speed burst. Effectively a potion of expeditious retreat, I would say, but it's fully alchemical. So I figured, a 50 gp price per use, except maybe having a 10% chance of exploding for 1d6 fire damage as a drawback? With the upside being it can be activated as a swift/free action as part of a move action to move further that turn? Then just have the fuel cost more money. I also said he could refine whale oil into fuel, incurring an additional cost for reagents. I know it's kind of silly, but it's alchemy and I like alchemy.

Does 1e have any systems for alchemical inventions?

I'll consider it. The problem is that since Pathfinder is a "hero building" TTRPG there's not a lot in the rules (that I know of) that does things for royalty. Which, now that I think of it, is a bit ironic considering how important royal figures are in this type of fiction.

Any of y'all know of anything that might help in this regard?

So a general question for folks, whats your favourite barbarian build/instinct?
Personally i have been enjoying a dragon instinct dwarf going mach 10 with sudden charge and rhino hide armour flying at anything looking at them funny with a dwarven greataxe. But i am curious on other barbarian players have done build wise

I'm playing an Animal Instinct grappler barbarian right now and it's a blast. It's a free archetype game so I've got a lot of goodies to play with. The fact that Animal Instinct is an unarmed build means you get to steal the best stuff from the Martial Artist archetype too. There's like a half dozen Strike-style attacks that I have and I use all of them.

>Round 1: Path of Iron to Stride into the middle of combat and make three full-MAP Strikes. Gigantic damage. As a bonus, you don't trigger reactions, so you can open the fight by just Striding right up to the 20' reach boss monster and punching him in the face, along with swiping at two minions on the way.
>Full round: Strike, followed by any number of things depending on the situation. If you hit, you can auto-grab with Furious Focus then Dazing Blow (fighter multiclass) to steal their actions. If you miss, Follow-up Strike from Martial Artist lets you make your second attack at full-MAP, and then you can Furious Grab if THAT hits. Every round you've got up to two full-MAP Strikes that guarantee you a grab; you will very reliably grab even extreme threats.
>Two-action round: If you're stuck with two actions for whatever reason, Strike into Combat Grab still gets in two Strikes and a Grab attempt.
>Bonus: Predator's Pounce for Stride + Strike effectively enables the "Full round" turn even when you need to change targets. The only downside is the Flourish trait, which means you don't have your Follow-up Strike safety net.
>Double-bonus: Echoing Violence (pic related)

Also, unarmed means free hands, and free hands means Battle Medicine. If you've got the skill increases to spare, the Medic Archetype only eats up two archetype feats and once you hit master proficiency you're able to double-tap yourself every hour for an amount of healing that competes with an on-level two-action Heal spell. You become very hard to kill. Plus you can handle downtime healing, which is always nice.

It was fun at first, mainly due to the DM being pretty new being a DM who should of known better, while he was a nice and chill guy to talk with, we have similar hobbies with fishing and hiking, so he probably somewhere in /Out/ but he was a bit of a push over

Other players, not so much, they were the type of players that watch shows like critical role and what not and wanted to have something similar to that which while I have nothing wrong against it, it just sometimes annoying when people try to act like them

here you got this fucking psycho who you probably find in GOT (the novels not the show) threating some villager of slamming her new born child head in against the wall if she didn't tell them where her husband, who was secretly a necromancer ran off to or chopping off dead foes fingers and ears off to wear around his neck to brag about his kills when camping

and just generally being this annoyance that kept poking holes in their backgrounds, mocking their sob stories and more importantly their actions, mainly of calling them out when they do something deemed as illegal or evil, like robbing people homes or just murdering a old geezer just because he was racist to elves and told the elf mage player he should fuck off back to the woods and hump animals or whatever retarded elves do out in the woods and the elf mage killed him with a fireball, when called out he just shrug it off in character 'oh he racist, so yeah I did it' and the other players back him up saying I had no right to call him out due to my character past actions

After a while during a break, the DM took me around back and just ask me to tone it down a bit and I did because I liked the guy as long I'm allow to still mock the other characters, we came to a agreement, the rest of the game went pretty well without any issue after that

I'm surprised the group didn't implode lol

I play exclusively warforgeds with the observant feat because my DM has a boner for surprise attacks during long rests.

Usually if I play an 'ugly' character, it's someone whose life circumstances have changed them. Unseemly scars, a rough life, lack of sleep, or just age.

I generally like to make characters that are conventionally attractive. But I also like making characters who at one point were, yet their looks fell off due to tragedy, bad decisions, or the consequences of an adventuring life.
>>96763800
I'd feel like with how lethal a lot of the stuff is, you'd be seeing a lot of people maimed or deformed from this life.

Everywhere I've looked people only want to run asynchronous play-by-post. Games advertised as live text get a dearth of responses compared to PbP and voice. Players even feel entitled to tell you they've lost interest because it's not one of those formats.

Was there some revolution I slept on? Years ago you used to be able to find something. Now an entire summer went by without a single game showing up.

God damn it feels like this whole hobby died out of nowhere.

I'm still left without any idea of where to find these people. I've seen listings for those systems end up barren because they were live text.
>>96798640
What do you actually mean when you say the actual game community discord?
>>
Our discord group has three pure text games and two games with OOC voice and IC text. A fourth text game is in the preparation stage.
But it's a community that's formed by pure luck and it's gated, we're not inviting randoms.
I assume that's the case for other groups.
>>
>>96798379
Reminds me of years ago, when I stumbled upon a text-based online (mmo)rpg. Legit the only thing you had to orient yourself was a "map" made out of basic letters and symbols and you had to type stuff like "Head north", "Head south", etc. at minimum to move around in the first place and each area gave you basic description of what's there. I wandered for a bit this way and then stumbled upon a real other player. The guy wrote entire novel-tier paragraphs and it somehow ended up with him showing me the path to his organization's secret hideout, where I was surprised that I could keep up at all, because it was legitimately following the descriptions in the flow text on the side, through streets, alleyways, up and down stairs until you end up in front what was described like just any other random wall. And when he wrote doing some very specific stuff, the wall opened up into another path. That part was legitimately kinda cool, but the whole thing really wasn't for me.
>>
>>96799783
isnt that just quest and cyoa?
>>
>>96798379
Basically everyone who does play-by-text became friends and don't need to advertise. The games exist, they're just not needing new players for the most part. PbP games die every other week and voice games grate on people so they split up eventually. With a text-based game, there's a certain level of quality required by all participants.

For example, my group has been going on for 10 years strong.

I don't know how hes cultivated this image as a master GM people will fork over millions of dollars to to buy his game and watch this advice videos in droves. I watched this guys live play and he's a very middling GM. Looking at his phone constantly, not very good with descriptions, looked bored and checked out, half his session was just trying to figure out combat in D&D 5E, a game he's been running regularly for years. Maybe I just saw a bad episode, he didn't seem like a terrible GM, just a very average one, certainly not one id ever care to watch regularly or hand cash to for his work. The black haired girl with the accent he plays with is actually a wonderful roleplayer though.

I got the same vibe from Mercer and CR recently when I tried giving one of their episodes a try recently. Don't know how those dudes became /tg/s boogeyman for "theater kids", they hardly roleplay, constantly speak and joke out of character, and they too don't know 5e combat rules despite playing regularly for years. They're good at voices but that's about it.
>>

A Hive without any Mechanicus sounds awful. Emperor forbid something breaks down. 1d100 for its size

We rolled up one Hive City for Wurmcrux(I made an attempt to add it to the OP) and we got two worlds for Abaric's Folly which were a Shrine and Cemetery world.

Oh we also we rolled a Guard Regiment that came from a Civilized World and they recruit tribesman from their world. They're low tech and managed to gain the ire of a Titan Legion(either did some collateral damage or mistook them for Chaos/Renegade).

Then the Chaos Knight House we rolled is from a feral world. Their loyalties lie with Dark Mechanicum and Tzeentch. They antagonize Mizar XV and are enemies with a loyalist Knight House and the Yu'vath.

Someone suggested making the cemetery world one of the shrineworld's 27 moons since it's so small, which I agree would make the subsector more spooky and forlorn

"Why was there no thread for several days?" edition.

>>What this thread is for:
>/tg/ gets shit done again and is creating a “Battle Bible” (Ala 2nd edition) for 4th edition Warhammer 40k.
>>What this thread isn’t for:
>Alternative ideas for what 4th edition could include, such as alternating activations, new unit ports, etc. This is a Stage 4 process and so there's plenty of time for that later on.
>Don't engage edition warriors, trolls and rule revisionists. We're trying to keep it tight; mannered and objective focused.

>BATTLE PLAN:
>Stage 1:Finish revising and formatting the SRD.
>Stage 2:Compile all GW official erratas into the SRD.
>Stage 3: Condense all the codices into up to date SRD. - pending
>Stage 4: Make a Hobby Enthusiast supplement for the SRD.
>Stage 4: Make an Optional Rules supplement for the SRD.

Where are anons hanging out? I'm old and general discord servers are kind of disgusting, they feel way too reddit/Tumblr and can't be ass to be walking on egg shells when talking about little dolls

I'm starting to wonder if we should've put some kind of changelog section in each of the docs detailing where any updates were pulled from. Would make fixing docs much easier.
The main SRD is pretty good (great even), but honestly, as it stands out I'm not really seeing much of an improvement in reading the docs over the original codexes.
>Inb4 and why don't (You) fix it????
I'm more commenting on the appalling state so many of these docs have been left before the people working on them seemingly vanished. Is it because most of the anons working on it were brits and they've been barred from using internet?

I was sure it had a changelog, but yeah it does not have any source...
I agree with anon hear. Sources for changes should be added.

Speaking of the SRD. Am I using an outdated version or is there no Witch Hunters Codex?

Stuff done
>source all pertanent offical documents for an army and put transcribe/combine it all into one text document
Next Step
>typeset said transcription into a nicely formatted pdf.

The current state of things is that only the big rule book has someone (NuSRDanon) workingon typesetting it. Im pretty sure at this point all the factions have had their codecies, relevent faqs, white drawf, chapter approved, and other sources scoured and the information dumped into text documents, but these are undormated. I dont think anyone yet has volunteered to start typesetting the transcriptions.

You can do so with either latex, afpublisher, adobe products, or whatever. I setup a github demonstrating how to use latex but so far I have no takers.

It just feels like spellcasters get so much more DPS than martials.
Even when putting a lot of effort into a max damage build with +5 STR, a maul and making use of the Great Weapon Master talent against low AC enemies, it just feels like you are doing no damage. Meanwhile, spellcasters get bullshit like 32(8d8) damage Blight or fucking 24(8d6) fireballs against MULTIPLE targets. Not to mention all the bullshit counters like Hellish Rebuke with 10(2d10) damage as a reaction.
To add insult to injury, I can only hit a single enemy at a time, which is a maximum of 3-4 enemies with one attack each, as if a strong warrior couldn't hit 3 Kobolds or zombies in one swing and most powerful bosses, where single target damage actually matters and AOEs are irrelevant, have the annoying tendency to resist physical damage or, in a few very ugly cases, even outright ignore it.
Doesn't help that stuff like Alchemist's Fire only does a pitiful 1d4 damage and costs fucking 50G a pop or a hunting trap does 1d4 damage and has a DC 13 throw to avoid or escape and ball bearings are an absolute meme with a DC 10 saving throw, so trying to be tactical and work around your weaknesses using gadgets is useless.

Was this game just designed by fucking sadists? Did the devs of the game just fucking hate me personally? It almost feels like a troll/meme game.
Are the older editions better? Does just 5e suck? Or are Fallout, Pathfinder or Gurps just better games than D&D if you like not having a miserable time?

Because the designers don't know what they're doing. Getting into 5e as a new player sucks because the rulebooks just don't teach you what you need to know, and in some cases just outright lie.

I have no idea how you can think DnD martials are fun to play at all. Battlemaster fighter has something going for them, I'll concede that; but literally every other pure martial is so limited in what you can do and what's actually a viable option you'd fall asleep at the table.

5e is just shit man. Just play 3.0 or 3.5. Follow a guide as a newbie. Look at the class tiers. Tier 4 is good at combat and that's about it. Tier 5 is shit, tier 3 is versatile, 2 is full casters who can't easily swap their spells. 1 is full casters who can swap their spells.

Or you can play AD&D2e for the martial focused edition.

Eclipse is alright for point buy. Its not very well organized though, IMO.

If you're not afraid to branch out of d20 a bit - Dungeon Fantasy RPG is fun and D&D adjacent.

Pendragon is a fun King Arthur game. You really want to play it with the grand campaign going on in the background though.

Check out OSRG. It might interest you.
Personally I'd recommend ACKS.
