I didn't see a customs thread so i figured I'd just ask. I have a lot of experience printing my own figures but even with high quality stuff like PETG or ID resin I'm getting fed up with the joint wear from printed materials. Do you anons have any recommendations for prefab revoltech / figma style joints? that way tolerance isn't an issue and I can just sculpt and print the in-between parts like I'm used to. Thanks. Now I'm gonna bump the thread with some pics of my last custom.
>>11636855Are there any legal issues in regards to action figure joints? If I wanted to sell my own figures and made a mass produced mold with these things for articulation would I have to get a lisence from their manufacturer?
>>11647062>Are there any legal issues in regards to action figure jointsNo. But you sound very green. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to have any figure mass produced?
>>11647010Nope, at least not the liquid, yellow shit variant that people bring up; just the "usual" PVC-gets-kinda-sticky-and-attracts-dust one.And as said, it's ONLY that kind of joint. All the white, gold, red, yellow, etc. and matte black ones are perfectly fine.
>>11636824Looks great. Can you tell me more about whole process? I've been looking into doing something similar for some characters that don't have figs and I thought about using popular dummy-13 project as base on which I'd sculpt parts to make it look like characters I want.
>>11648970sure anon. it was a pain but i rushed it out to impress an artist connection i had made. it took about 3 weeks, but then another week or so of polish. I used the original lucky 13 skeleton, which i think is the precursor to the more popular dummy. I work in zbrush and made liberal use of booleans functions, and i printed it on a bamboo a1 mini. Zbrush is shit for tolerances and i don't know other 3d programs very well so it took a lot of trial and error.

>>11644034>There should be a code stamped somewhere. Just google it.I've tried to Google that, I'm not an expert on googling but it was an exercise in frustration. a code-decoder might exist, but I couldn't find it>>11644019>Any idea how to identify them?Google did reveal characters with parts. you can usually pick a part or two from each character, and do the humiliating (your experience may vary) "feeling up the bags" maneuver in the store. it might take some practice, the arms can feel like swords or whatever. but if there's a hat shape or pole thing, it's easy to tell if you have the right piece by feeling through the bag...
>>11644889Guess is the old-fashioned way, then. Thanks for the advice
Yeah, I think the codes only bring partial clues like day of production, not a hard indication of the content.

So are these dedicated joint tightening liquids actually worthwhile or is floor polish good enough? Does it work better? Does it last longer? Does it do less/more damage to the figure long term?
>>11644485>>11644485You dont, but it's always better to pop it out. Especially if it's a ball joint that goes into a socket. If it's a ball joint that you manage to pop out, it's better to use the water texture. It leaves a transparent flexible layer that creates more friction. For other joints, you can apply the reducer. Of course, always start small, if you need more friction, add more and let it dry. I usually apply it, pose it, put it back in my display and forget about it lolThe more you can dismantle a joint, the better. Pic related, Zodd's shoulder joint was loose so I completely dismantled it for better results.

Just use elmers glue
>>11645241man, you people really need to stop being fooled into buying overpriced acrylic. It's literally just cheapo acrylic with maybe a surfactant to make it runny. You can make your own high premium joint tightener using any Walmart acrylic paint and 60% alcohol. Or you can add the acrylic paint without watering it down, because it really doesn't matter. You buy a little bottle of acrylic paint in any color or in clear gloss/matte acrylic varnish for $1-5 and it'll last you a lifetime. No need to special order anything. Just buy acrylic paint next time you're at walmart or near a michaels or next to hobbylobby.>>11647191white glue works too, but it wears out faster. BUT it's so cheap and you have enough supply to last you a lifetime with your $2 bottle.pic is what i use. Super fucking premium and overpriced just to tighten joints, but i also use it for painting. So many uses, instead of buying an overpriced acrylic "joint tightener" that's loaded with surfactants and who knows what else so i can't use it for anything else.

Do the instructions for combining SS86 Devastator have Scrapper's foot mode wrong? I was wondering why mine tended to lean forward a little (but still noticeably) and I noticed the Scrapper leg did not sit completely flat. He does, however if you set his heels (scrapper arms) the opposite way to what the instructions show (with the little clips on Scrapper's hands on top instead of down). On second thought it's kinda obvious since the other side of his arm is uneven and causes the foot to not be completely flat.
>>11650290The final figure is not missing that panel.
>>11650401Did you turn the little bucket at the front around 180 and lock it in place between his legs? I noticed he will not align properly if you do not. You can tell when you did it properly because it will click in place.
>>11650401Yeah, I noticed that too and thought it was an error, BUT the Mixmaster foot is designed to tilt forward the exact same way, so I'm guessing they actually designed Scrapper to transform like that to make the thing slightly more stable. It compensates the small heel spurs and weight of the backpack so no dumb kid makes it fall backwards. At first I was transforming it so Scrapper was flat to not stress his shovel, but after noticing that Mixmaster is the same I follow the instructions. Shovel doesn't hold that much weight anyways.
>>11650229i'm glad i finally secured the narutoformers at a pretty low price, but you are reminding me just how much cooler it still could be...god, the tm2 mold is flawed and STILL so cool that I never stop wanting both of them

>>11646376Realizing this, I've now become somewhat un-hyped for the possibility of a Ver ANIME MP Guncannon. I figured that might be next in the line up considering Bandai backtracked and released all the other missing MS. But the MP Guncannon is only ever shown using one machine gun. No shield no beam saber, no bazooka. If it does get made. It will only come with like a few sets of hands, one machine gun, firing effects pieces, and that's it. what was the weirdest toy you has as a kid?I remember this trunks figure that came with a skinsuit of his super saiyan form. I thought the gimmick was neat but also a huge pain in the ass and frankly kinda creepy. after a certain point it just became a manlet trunks figure to hang out with the normal-sized super saiyan gokus and vegetas I had
Saw this at a supermarket in the Whitehall Mall in PA decades ago. Bought it as a gag gift for my brother. Such beautiful idiocy.
>>11645234Idk, probably a knock off go bot from a drug store. I think I am one of a handful of people who actually know why this toyline failed in short The toy line was pure insanity somehow the managers did think that kids will love mutants who look like crap thrown together! The only colors are shit green, shit gold/brown and 4 of the mutants look almost identical meaning like generic crap thrown together. Not only this the mutants are fully unique (have their own molds)!!!!!!1111one one oneIf you did not know the original toy line did reuse like 4 molds they pressed differently colored plastic out. This is why the le skeleton scare glow literally has abbs and flesh on him! They only painted the skeleton in. This was super cheep to produce. However the 90s toyline decided to have these mutants. And wasted unique molds on EVERY body part they have. This character? Looks totally different in the show and is not even really named. Also all the mutants except 4 are background characters and one of them is not even drawn in model or his colors? The most memorable are>Flog (red leader)Comment too long. >>11638396 I think that the weird retro apocalypse futurism - in a strongly Kirby way was part of it's charm. Thundarr rides over a desk in the middle of a swamp (that has stood there for a thousand years.) and the wood freshly smashes. SPEED BUGGY is petrified in a rock - but can still be driven. Subway posters for JAWS 10. And they are all mixed in with MASSIVE geological shift. It's literally A WORLD GONE MAD. and that makes it better. (and that's not even the aliens and cyber mages) This isn't 200 years in the future. Magic fucked things. what magic didn't fuck science and radiation did. the interactions are why it's like that and bits of the past preserved.
>>11638407 It's possible that you could reboot Thundarr today because it didn't have the toys then.
>>11638402I don't think having to feature specific characters in a series due to a new toy coming is a bad thing. aiming a cartoon to sell a toyline doesnt have to be bad. lazy writers might complain but when you have the talent you can add new characters and get a new spin on the series with it
>>11639154>That's how Harmony Gold stole Macross from Big West/Tastonoku with changing the name to "Robotech," re-editing the cartoons, and changing most character names. This is inaccurate. The way they stole it was they purchased the rights to localize Macross, but the wording in the contract was vague and so they argued they bought the rights to the IP it'self. They ended up settling for ownership of the distribution rights in the western hemisphere, but I think now even that is no longer the case because they haven't done anything with the rights other than sue people for distributing/producing anything even Macross adjacent for the past 3 decades. Now they only block any Macross content from the 80s era.

However, we have what passes for toy stores in my metro area, plus WalMart in the suburbs and Targets. In fact, this Ross was right next to a hge Target (about four small stores apart since Target has their own building).>>11644382Yup, I saved that picture to shitpost on Toddster Patio Gen here but I see if I blow it up you can clearly see the BA logo. These are just cheap PVC statues.I just realized that the vehicle on the bottom of that display in the Batpatz Drifter bike, I just grabbed that off Target for $14, free shipping since I was buying other crap. I can see people picking that up cheaply if they understand it's just a generic Honda or similar bike, there's not even a fucking bat logo on it.
