Online forces you to choose intermission tracks, the chances of a regular 3 lap course are kinda rare and Nintendo has been successful in their psychological warfare because now people vote intermission over 3 lap. I wouldn't mind intermissions if it had lower chances of showing up, but after a while it gets boring to drive in just one straight line with a few curves and the 3 lap courses aren't as memorable or interesting as MK8D. tl;dr some improvements on the gameplay, but the open world fucked it over and it shows they really didn't knew what to do with it. Also fuck nintendo and their insistence of pointless scrolling through menus.
