I finally want to deep-dive into this console's library, but I'm having trouble sifting through all the ported arcade games. What are the best games that were exclusively made for the PC-Engine, including the CD-ROM2 add-on and the PC-Engine Duo?Also, I'm curious about multi-plat games where the PC-Engine port is considered the best version - later-gen ports notwithstanding

I beat sunshine, wind waker, metroid prime and both pikmins (all were really good. no clue why people bitch on and on about sunshine and WW, they were really fun). what should I play next?

What are you playing on this lovely Sunday afternoon, fellow senior citizens?
bump
It's sunday again, and I was playing GB Tetris. A friend of mine had his game boy stolen but not his games, so I bought a couple.
Bump.
Gonna get home and play some Doom after a nice weekend of smashing my cute femboy sleeve.
Played the ALttP Randomizer for the first time, got stuck for like 2 hours because the one item I needed to progress was in a dark room (I had the fire rod). Took me way longer to finish than if I had just played the original game.It was "fine" but if I get the urge to play "2D Zelda but with a twist again", I'll play Crusader of Centy so I can check that off my backlog instead.
What was the last good rhythm game? My guess is pop'n music 10. Bemani were holding the line for so long and then they just sorta gave up.
>>12023161Night Walk is great.
>>12023795Op probably doesn't actually play popn. Imagine if they said popn 6 was the best.17 fucked it all up by getting rid of every license. I would say Peace was probably their best due to the callbacks and obviousness it was going to be the last. Altho I really do like Sunny Park.
>>12025208I haven't played 17 but the series didn't have licenses for so long at the start that losing them wouldn't hit me that hard.

Wizardry sucks dick because it's not enough to employ a winning strategy. You have to get good rng to win. Japs love having their time wasted like this. I've never understood it. This console was a technical piece of shit for the time it came out in. It barely matched the Mega Drive or PC Engine, both of which were much older. They really had no excuse for making such a weak machine so late. It should have absolutely mogged the MD and PCE but a lot of the times it was the other way around.
Bump because this should be common knowledge. The words "SNES" should be equated to "shitty, slow, bottlenecked hardware" and "lacklustre games library" in the public's mind. There should be a sticky on this forum stating simply stating:>SNES>2.68 mhz>in 1991Just as a continuous reminder of how embarrassingly poor this console was.>>12023902>Go bust out DKC and tell me it wasn't groundbreaking for it's time.Everything Donkey Kong did was done in far better fashion and earlier by David Perry games such as Aladdin (Mega Drive version) or Earthworm Jim. The only people impressed by Donkey Kong were those who were so deep in the Nintendo echo chamber that they had never seen those games.>>12025095>There's a difference between preferring another console, and claiming the Super Nintendo is bad. There is, but it's quite natural to prefer another console when the SNES is bad on an objective level.>universally acclaimed consoleFor what? Mario, Zelda, Metroid. Same shit as any other Nintendo console. Nobody actually gives a shit about the SNES itself, or any of it's other games, they just like the same couple Nintendo games that they would like irregardless of what console it was on. Mega Drive and PC Engine enjoys threads with people sharing and enjoying dozens of incredible titles. Meanwhile, you SNES drones have trouble naming more than 5 without resorting to shit-tier filler and hoping nobody notices.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>12026490You convinced me. I will now stop liking all these Capcom, Konami, Natsume, Irem, Taito, etc games because you reminded me that the SNES has an on paper spec number set that's low!In fact, screw retro, all retro consoles are too low on on-paper specs, I will now exclusively play on the most modern, latest CPU available on the market. And I will accept no game that doesn't require those specs!

>>12026031Oh, i've seen plenty of those on both Saturn and PSX, mostly PSX since there is a dedicated Saturn patching tool. But I remember the ZSNES days where I had to run several dos programs in a row to patch a game.
>>12026002>needing a translation for a SHMUPYes. If there is but one line of dialog, it should be in my language. There is not a single Japan only game that shouldn't be translated.
>>12026051Apparently the patching tool for Ys IV English translation on PC Engine CD no longer works on 64-bit Windows machines. You have to use a VM or an emulator to patch the game.

>>12026591Well the series was as just SaGa on Game Boy>Makai Toushi SaGa>SaGa 2: Hihou Densetsu>SaGa 3: Jikuu no HashaSo I guess when it came to Super Nintendo they wanted it to have a new name. And since the SNES games are more romantic fantasy without robots and mutants, maybe that's why they chose "Romancing">actually looks it upHere's the real answer:>The game's "Romancing" title was suggested by Nobuyuki Inoue, inspired by the adventure movie Romancing the Stone. Kawazu was a little mixed on the impression given by the title, but the illustrations and music helped make the game more in line with the "romantic" style implied by the title.[15]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romancing_SaGa#Development

>>12025903Master System, Game Gear and Mega Drive are all superb consoles with fun libraries to go back to. SEGA's 1st party IPs, mainly in the arcades, but also on home consoles, has mostly been great, especially titles like Sonic and Streets of Rage. I also loved their licensed titles, like when they made Disney ones. I can't imagine someone thinking SEGA made nothing of value unironically.
