>>108337867I can confirm. My Firefox crashed twice a day, and RawTherapee sometimes froze. I ran Memtest86+ just for fun, and after a few seconds, red [FAIL] appeared. >>108352712the difference is that they had no use for it themselves. and while sure getting popular thing because it's popular thing is pretty normal, that's not enough of a reason by itself considering how expensive it was. again we weren't rich. the house i grew up in was made in the late '50s, complete with external wood fired heater for hot water. my parents drove cars from the '80s (my dad upgraded to a second hand one from '96 later, but when i left home in 2010 my mum was still using that '80s car), etc. not to sound like i'm complaining or anything, i enjoyed going with my mum to garage sales and flea markets, they're where i picked up all my early computer parts and stuff (i had a room full of old computer parts before the family computer)

>>108351378They're also 15% more expensive. So they're more expensive, gives a ton more energy density, but with fewer recharge cycles.I can see why they're mostly in phones but not as much in EVs except high end models. Phone batteries can be cheaply replaced every 3-4 years, but for the average car buyer, it's probably something they can't afford, except richfags, so hence only high end premium models.

Initially it was the WiFi router for my parents, now it's a VPN server and torrent box.My Pi4B boards are also fanless and one of them has been in service since 2020, mostly for Kodi and Retropie. The fan is optional, it allows the board to sustain high load for long periods without thermal throttling. If you don't load the board continuously, or don't mind the throttling, or can avoid it in other ways (CPU governor, undervolting) then there's no need for a fan.

Firefox just announced that they are extending Windows 7 support yet again. Despite originally pledging to drop support in 2024 they have now announced yet another 6 month extension and will probably extend after that to 2027 or even match Windows 10 LTSCs support timeline. This gives Windows 7 users an unprecedented 7 years post EOL support.Despite being only 0.7% of Windows users they comprise 5% of Firefox users which are now becoming very lucrative to Mozilla as Windows 7 users are captive to Firefox as they are the only mainstream browser left in town. Despite recommending Linux upgrades it looks like RAM price increases have prevented people from buying new computers forcing them to keep using their ewaste Windows 7 computers and using Firefox. It will be very interesting to see how long the can will be kicked, will we see Windows 7 users in the 2030s?
