1-4 is pretty retarded for the weight and cost compared to other modern options. The whole world has moved to something like 1-10x LPVOs if they are using scopes which is close to the same weight of the elcan.

Elcan
>3267$ at 23.10 oz

>2030ish$ at 23.25 oz
Maybe the Elcan has a better 1x, I don't know.

>>64742451
Certainly a wider FoV
>>
>>64742451
Even if it had a better 1x there is still scope shadow for both and you would likely use a attached red dot for 1x shooting anyways. I have only used Dot + Mag for all my main guns for a long time and have only shots friends rifles with scopes so that's just what I think.

Ignoring OP for a bit: What small arms are available for door gunning? If you were a door gunner, what would be the one you'd want to use the most?
>>
>>64742275
m240b is probably the only thing i can think of if it isn't already used for that

Why wouldn't something like pic related work fine as a "do everything" gun for a person living in the densely forested hills of Appalachia, where the power and ballistic advantage of a rifle simply isn't necessary?
>plinking will be good fun with the naturally subsonic .45
>definitely suitable for home defense
>easy enough to fit in a backpack, or take the can off and carry it on your person
>get some .45 Super for killing deer or hogs, or mess around with round ball loadings for taking small game or for pest control
Yes, it's true that rifles can be had for dirt cheap these days. And it's also true that there is no real reason to limit yourself to just one gun, especially a handgun. But in an autistic min-max fantasy where you literally can only own one gun and it has to be able to be carried 24/7/365, does a suppressed .45 automatic make sense? The only real downside I see here is that this is not the best option for summertime concealed carry in hot climates.

Listen to the interviews with the old MACVSOG guys who have shot a lot of people. They explicitly say that 9mm ball does pretty much jack shit and that .45acp would reliably people down. With modern expanding ammo there is probably much less distinction. There are a lot of professionals who only shoot ball because it feeds the best and they expect to get their lethality from followup shots.

Mentally ill take. The single stack 9mm CC guns that were all the rage in the early 2010s were totally fine until the stagger stacks came out and then suddenly they're trash. People didn't all of the sudden start dying in the streets when they swapped out double stack guns for those single stacks when they were in vogue because of how easy they were to EDC. A double stack .45 has plenty of capacity, most single stacks do too.
>45s don't make bigger holes
Pure cope, the only support for this claim is a single white paper made by fagler(an avowed .45 hater). The methodology was shooting a block of jello with 9mm FMJ followed by shooting another one with .45 FMJ. He had a couple of surgeons who were not allowed any sort of frame of reference or measuring equipment look at them and they could not definitively say that they could differentiate between the two in that particular situation. It's a nothing burger that was eternally shilled by him and his club of dickriders until it spawned the idea that "there's no difference at all between 9mm and .45".

One of the very many examples of "common sense" terminal ballistics information that outs people as being a pseud.
>Inb4 this one time there was a shooting where the cop ran out of ammo for his .45

Its truly amazing trying to understand what these people think. It's like they plan to just wildly mag dump in an attackers general direction, then unironically think that an attacker is going to ignore the first 10 rounds headed their direction until deciding that the 11th was too much and giving up.

9mmlets are mentally ill.

No problem. It's probably the best thing I have picked up ITT. Just watch the sales tax and shipping. Just because a site has the lowest advertised price doesn't mean they are the cheapest in the end.
Also, I feel like PSA (who charges state sales tax) did a big fat bait and switch on me on their New Year's sale. I went to purchase a gun and it said my FFL's liscense had expired. When I asked the FFL about it, they said it is due for renewal in 2027. Then the gun was "out of stock," but it was magically back in stock at regular price on Monday. I don't want to hate on PSA, I'm just saying, pay attention. Pick your price and wait a while and don't get caught out by jeet style scams.

Scott Patterson [Director of Research and Evaluation at the FBI] insists he recommended the adoption of a 9x19 standard purely for its ballistic performance through light barriers and human tissue but admits there wasn't a consensus from the Bureau leadership until after he told them it would a savings of $500,000 at the academy alone. Another highlight of the interview is that 9x19 technology was said to have reached the parameters of FBI testing with the caveat that it wasn't under the same pressure and velocity limits as .40 S&W loads that were in place for the sake of female agents [presumably]. James also asked Scott for a generic EDC ammo prescription

Every role you see at an airport but with a military uniform. If you want a follow-on job at your local airport, the Air Force is where to learn those skills.
>>
>>64742087
They mostly perform operations related to aircrafts.

It's like they don't have infantry, they only have Security Forces which are basically gate guards.

Another example is they might have EOD, but it's mostly for ordnance that failed to detonate during training etc. Not always though. Afghanistan/Iraq needed EOD techs so even air force was outside the wire.

It's just a strange culture to anyone in the other branches. More like a 9-5 with a few military courtesies.
>>
>>64742191
I sometimes do truly wonder if the civilian side and military side of aviation met in the middle with some weird compromise on how it should operate, as there truly are many parallels between the two.

>3D Printed Guns

What are the best filaments you guys are using for frames and gun parts? Is it still PLA + or are the different carbon/glass infused filaments better?

What are you guys printing?
>>
>>64742368
I'm not printing guns.

But if I was Hoffman has a good writeup on filaments on his site.
>>
I always appreciate that 3d printed weapons look very cyberpunky. But they also look like something you could throw at a wall and it would just come apart like a sugar cookie
>>
>>64742368
PLA pro or glass fiber nylon. Actual manufacturers use GF-nylon. 3d printed parts are basically consumables due to how cheap and easy they are to print.

Hoping that the filing requirement on $0 suppressors goes away because I don't want to do paperwork and a printed suppressor wrapped with duct tape that costs less than a dollar in materials is the obvious consumable suppressor to make. At that price point who cares if it fails from a single rapidfire magazine?
>>
>>64742446
>look like something you could throw at a wall and it would just come apart like a sugar cookie
You probably could cause significant damage by slamming a 3d printed part along its layer lines, but if made properly you would need to use deliberate effort. Considering that the part is probably less than $20 in material and half a day in print time, it can be replaced. If you dont abuse 3d printed parts they can be just as durable. For the US it is a hobby to make your own, because making things is fun.

eh, honestly in my limited experience I have found very little difference other then weight (which is valid) when it comes to dealing with longer guns vs shorter. My home rifle is a 20 inch A4 clone and i have no real difficulty running around my house with that. My issued M4 is perfectly fine aswell. Now what DOES become an issue with my A4 is fitting the fucking thing into cases and vehicles which is why you saw bullpups come about.
>>
>>64736234
