Most of them will die, but that's a price he's willing to not necessarily pay out in compensation

I used to intern with a Class II FFL precision rifle builder who also manufactured some NFA items and no joke, you can literally make a good quality (albeit rough finished) suppressor for under $100 provided you have a lathe. You can make even cheaper wipe suppressors for close to $50 out of pipe tubing you find on amazon. I remember watching this video by an American volunteer in the Ukrainian International Legion who talk about a company in the Czech Republic that sold suppressors for the Bren 2 that cost $125 so clearly it doesn't cost that much to make them yet I'm having a hard time finding anyone selling even shitty .22lr whip suppressors for under $500. Certainly with the NFA tax going away you'd think there'd be a market for cheap suppressors in the US right?

This is honestly the only reason I don't have a lathe.
Every fucking asshole selling one used wants $2k for hammered to shit unit made literally 60 years ago.
They have their Facebook marketplace/Craigslist posts up for multiple years.
It's like the "I know what I got" clowns at gun shows except with ancient manufacturing tooling instead.
I've got a small Taiwanese milling machine, I bought a rotary table and just spend hours to cut my circular pieces vertically instead.
Fucking sucks and I'm limited by my Z axis pretty severely, but it's the best I can do for my home hobbyist usage until I figure out a game plan for starting an actual manufacturing business that can survive.

>>
>>64686076
Obviously not an equally significant stress riser.
On the AR-15 not only are the lugs made weaker by the extractor cut, they also experience a higher load due to the missing lug. A double whammy.
>>
Also the issue with having 4 lugs is that the bolt has further to rotate to get into battery.
The upside is less machining, greater tollerence for fouling, greater % of engagement if it's not fully in battery.
But you get thermal issues with larger metal parts expanding more, specifically a greater heat diferencial.
So if the rifle is really cold on the outside, shrunken, and the bolt is really hot, expanded, there's an awkward number of rounds where the bolt lugs might jam, at least, until the other parts warm up or the bolt cools down.

But this can lead to a third issue, where the rifle jams out of battery, then fires out of battery, which tends to destroy the mag and blow off the dust cover. It's an issue common to a number of rifles.
>>

Nonsense
>But this can lead to a third issue, where the rifle jams out of battery, then fires out of battery, which tends to destroy the mag and blow off the dust cover. It's an issue common to a number of rifles.
Nonsense. Rifles do not fire oit of battery. The firing pin cannot contact the primer unless the bolt is fully locked.
>>
Aren't AR15 bolt lugs legitimately somewhat weak? Think I read that somewhere.

Giving an update to the bssquirts drop in, I put it in my ar15 lower and it worked when dry firing my 556 DD upper.
It also worked when dry firing my 9mm upper on the same lower, the lower initially had some issues with the 9mm upper because I had an extended kak bolt extension with the law tactical folder.
I took out the extended extension and put the standard one back in and the upper worked just fine.
I sacrifice some mass but oh well, hopefully I have enough mass that I dont get an oob from bolt bounce.
I dont have to cut any weight on the bcg btw because I took the weight out entirely to use a law folder.
From my understanding glock lowers etc.. need the ar9 lever, but if the lower is an ar15 lower and you use a conversion, the normal lever works fine

I'm assuming the ar9 lever you dont have to cut your bolt weight either?

I'm going to the range to actually test this soon

How were these used? As a big axe with pointy bits or as a spear with a bit more versatility?

I have no doubt that European weapons could get through Mesoamerican armor, and as I said, I think it's even particularly likely that the Anonymous Conquerer in that line is exaggerating things.

However, if it was entirely ineffective against Spanish weapons, then Spanish sources wouldn't bother to praise it at all, nor would they have adopted it as much as they did.

Consider also that the Conquistadors were not always particularly well equipped, most may not have had armor at all and had simple non-protective clothing (which is part of why they adopted Mesoamerican armor): They had to supply their own equipment, mostly, or at least this was the case in the Cortes expedition (apparently some later ones down in Peru such as Pizarro's were better outfitted), so it's possible that the swords they had access to weren't the highest quality or what was best suited to the situation.

>>
>>64674265
Depends. In a formation you use it like a spear that can make quick, short cuts and fence with it if you're in the front and facing other poles. If the lines get a little closer, weapons start tangling, you're up against shorter weapons, OR you're not the front line, you can and should lift it up and bring that axe head down on people, as it'll let you clear a section of line or a gate very quickly. Helmets tend to impair upward vision a little, and people desperately trying to not get stabbed aren't going to notice in time, or be able to respond quickly enough (or with enough structure) to stop you.

One on one, no idea. I'm not particularly skilled with them and here never actually trained at it, clubbing retards in a press or spear fencing is honestly way less complex than properly fighting with something like a halberd or glaive one on one.

>>64674362
Pretty sure you're getting them confused with the knightly pollaxe, which is shorter, and generally used very, very differently, as it's a weapon explicitly meant for a well armored man to kill well armored men. Keeping the axe back and butt forward is something a man at arms can afford, because he's already well protected and wants that head back so he can deliver heavy hits to other men at arms.

Your average halberdier absolutely NEEDS the head forward, or he's pretty liable to get stabbed.

Why dont we have nuclear powered surface ships besides carriers?
Also, how much supplies are flown in for carriers out at sea? Is it a constant stream of helis just carrying supplies? Where does the supplies come from? The pacific is pretty fucking far from America.

Why don't modern rifles have a cleaning rod along the barrel anymore with a cleaning kit in the stock/grip?

Seems like a pretty inelegant solution to give the soldier these separate maintenance packages when it all could be mounted on the gun, easily and quickly accessed when needed, and never misplaced/lost.
34 replies and 5 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>64685571
Most people wear the cleaning kit on their belt. In the past the rod was single part and couldn't be collapsed
>>
>>64685571
The victorious modern soldier is far better supplied and equipped - there is no need for the extra weight when an entire spare rifle can be retrieved from their transport vehicle, brought up from a supply cache by courier, delivered by drone or any other myriad solution. And I say this having had the joy of presenting my Mauser's cleaning rod to a fellow at the range faced with a stuck case from shooting 50yo 30-06 ammo recently inherited from his granddad. It's a feature useful in the bygone times of adventurous military expeditions and serendipitous circumstances, not present general issue.
>>
>>64686208
>because that weight is in your ruck not your hands, and you arent wearing your ruck in a firefight
No, the cleaning kit goes in your vest so you can use it at any time necessary.
>it pushes the centre of gravity to the front of the gun and makes it heavier which fatigues the arms and makes it more tiresome to hold a sight picture
More weight at the front controls muzzle movement incredibly well making the gun more stable under recoil. Besides, a soldier isn't going to be standing up holding a sight picture all day long, rather, he will go prone and brace the rifle on anything he can find so that he actually hits the target.
>>
>>64686512
If your get a stuck case or a barrel obstruction in the middle of a firefight you can't just ask the enemy to stop shooting so you can clear the jam.

Malaysia had the toughest commando and special force unit in South East Asia. They happen to be the best jungle fighters in the world. Malaysian troops are the only forces in the world to have defeated a communist insurgency. In the decades in the fight against the Communists, there is no record of a Malaysian soldier taken alive. I might mention here that, for their expertise in jungle warfare, Malaysians are known in the business as "whispering death." Elite fores all over the world are trained by them. The jungle warfare school in Fort Benning, Georgia was set up by a Malaysian team. The UK, NZ and Australian forces have joint training in Malaysia to learn jungle warfare from Malaysian forces on an annual basis, especially after the Vietnam war.

Just learn about Col Charles Beckwith ... he had been part of British Special Air Services (SAS) in Malaya and used the knowledge to further develop US Special Force programmes including Vietnam and Delta Forces. Malaysian Special Force are rooted from SAS the same way and time during his tour there too. Some additional jungle skills from the native were also included, specially in tracking and hiding. U.S. Navy SEALs conduct training in Malaysia twice a year. The U.S. Army does field exercises with the Malaysian army.

American Marine always come to Malaysia training at Special Warfare School to learn survival lesson. One of the trainer has shared his experience with Marines in his FB. He said this Marines are too arrogant and too proud. When he and team mates leave this Marines in the jungle, on the next day they found this Marines not practice what they has learned. The area they were been are near a small river and many foods around it but they never search or hunt the animal. The hut they suppose to build, not like a hut at all. They looked like a shit. When asked why they don't eat, they said they always eat mre foods and when the foods almost out they will radio to send foods.

Captured E-11s are light, high capacity, compact and free. Assuming we have loot from dead stormies then we also have captured body gloves which are going over civilian clothing or camoflage. We actually want our guys to die if shot so they cant be interrogated, but we'll strip out the NV and atmospheric filtering gear from the helmets and keep that. Seperate comms gear though. Then we give out thermal detonators or mines, and a squad level e-web. I would also throw in some manacles and vibroblades because they're cheap as shit, and maybe some bacta packs (not to save anyone, just for appearances to keep morale up)

Scout the QRF locations beforehand, find main routes of advance, ambush early, pull back often.
Not sure why the rebels wouldn't have packed more MG's explosives and shoulder fired AT but I'd give them a shit load of options. Mines, claymores, airburst mortars to turn the trees into shrapnel
