ITT: secret knowledge your party would kill for, either to get it, protect it, destroy it, hide it, whatever

maybe just playing delta green would scratch that hitch but I'd like to avoid intergalactic reality warping monsters and keep things tech noir / cyberpunk related because the setting is eclipse phase with nechronica and cowboy bebop shoehorned in but anything goes really

btw the twist for my players is that they don't know they're onboard a generation ship but I'm looking for ideas to get them on a shitload of false leads kthxbye xoxoxoxo merryxmas & hppy new yr btw

fuck this new captcha so much wtf

It doesn't normally take much for player characters to kill people. The location of something shiny is usually enough.
>false leads
This is normally a bad idea. A game is not a story, and you shouldn't expect it to work like one.
>>
>>97217422
Without knowing more about your party or your world's history, generally anything that indulges or promises to enrich or empower the players is enough.
The price for profit can always be reduced to money. Life insurance is proof enough that even the average person understands how much someone's life is worth

If you're talking about raw power, heck just attach a meta-mechanical benefit for getting a piece of treasure or book. You promise to give them a feat from the book? If it's the first time, you don't even have to tell them it's the worst feat in the book.
>>
>>97217422
... traditional games?
>>
>>97217429
OP asking for plot hooks to engage players (unless he's not just botting, which he probably is)
>>
>>97217422
>false leads
Give them one that is almost correct but not quite
>schizo ramblings about being trapped in a lab-test
Have them find a brain-in-jar experiment underway.
>abort, retry, fail?
t b h hiding that they're on a generational ship is difficult to do unless you get into megastrucutres. Doesn't take that long to get from one side of a ship to the other and player characters will have inordinate amounts of free time.

Utter nonsense. Rising to the highest levels of power in a matter of months, or even days, is entirely believable in many fantasy worlds, and scarcely different from doing so in a few years. Adventurers are extraordinary individuals who encounter extraordinary circumstances. Your sense of verisimilitude is shallow, and overall, you are lacking in imagination.

He means they already have a story (plotted PC arcs and eventual campaign outcome), then just pretend the mechanics are affecting their fate in some way (like in real games). The streams in CR/Hollywood circles are not games, they are story/play writing.

Why are any of you even talking about Isekai? It's a garbage genre grown from a once novel concept. Now it's just a stamp for mediocrity and color-by-number meta-fantasy.

There's no discussion to be had. It's bad. The best one, whatever that may be, is just the most shiny turd in a pile of shit.
Go watch Orphen or something. The original one, not the generic looking modern remake.
Also English dubbed because it's funny.
>>
>>97218180
I'm sorry, but LitRPG Isekai novels have been part of the /tg/ sphere since at least 1983 when Joel Rosenburg published The Sleeping Dragon. Sure the genre is flooded with low-quality Japanese Web Novels, but that doesn't mean that it should be ignored just because you find it annoying to sort through the crap and find the interesting diamonds in the rough. Go wallow in your pool of "classics."

P.S. That original Orphen series? That was a mangling of a Light Novel series originally published in the same magazine as Slayers, Rune Soldier Louie and Highschool DXD.

To show the light shining through a gemstones (regardless of colour) you shade the top and highlight the bottom, ie the opposite to how you'd treat an opaque material. Finally you put a white dot highlight right where the light first hits it, ie in the middle of your shading.
As for a yellow gemstone in a gold setting... the best advice may be to go for a silver or copper setting instead.

in my experience convoke is good because you always have the option to leave some creatures (summon sick) up and pay it partially. not to mention the connive is good card selection. I have it in a creature deck that doesn't really make tokens and it's fine in that too altho my deck cares about the +1 counters too

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Wanted to talk about advice on GMing, settings you prefer, and styles or issues you as a GM have. I generally tend to prefer dark fantasy or sci-fi settings rather than trying something a little different.

I also tend to have a style, depends on the system though, where i have a combat heavy session or two and then a more intrigue/exploration focused session. I have been working on how to better balance games I run, but trying to tie that to timing a game session gets tricky at times.

Another issue I noticed is that puzzle solving or investigative games can be a lot harder for a player to get into the mindset for than the dm. It is easy to think everything you planned makes sense when you thought it out in your head but the players might not have the same line of thought.

I like how Gregg Stafford subverted this and turned it on its head in Glorantha. The "deep lore" is basically a constructed mono-myth by neo-platonic atheistic sorcerers, in reality it is the viewer who constructs reality through faith and actions by re-enacting "mythical" actions. Its Jung and Eliade pilled and closer to how humanity has viewed the myths in history and much less positivist (ala Lovecraft), "this is the way the world is constructed" while still having some basic cosmological rules.

The Lunars are the most strange because there is no real life earth analogue for their extreme theological syncretism, maybe the Innana Ishtar cult of the ancient near east would be the closest analogue or Hindu Shaktism.

However it I have not seen much comparison between Glorantha and the Lovecraft mythos and its funny because Chaosium has owned both games. Maybe Lovecraft's Dreamlands and Clark Ashton Smith influenced some of Glorantha.

The best parasites don't kill their hosts. Also the math just doesn't math on Elders needing to stack the bodies up high just to function on the night to night. It strains the credulity of the Masquerade immensely, especially when you remember that human populations used to be much smaller.

V5 doesn't understand many things, logistics is one of them. The world prior to the 21st Century is another. It certainly doesn't understand how things like surveillance states and intelligence agencies actually operate. The big issue with V5's vampires is they're so non-functional that one finds it hard to believe they didn't go extinct a long time ago.

For the record Blood Potency was fine... in Requiem, where it worked differently and was part of a universal rubric to determine how potent a supernatural being was. I'd go so far as to say that if we were just talking about Requiem's blood potency, you could mix it with generation and have a generational min-max potency and it'd work relatively fine as a compromise. The problem is V5 loved cribbing things from Requiem that worked without understanding WHY they worked.

>>97217736
In Requiem it was also as much a negative as it was a power boost to get a high BP, to the point that it was common for an elder to just give up and go sleep away a century or two so they can feed from humans again instead of only other vamps.

I've been on a space kick recently and want to run a sci-fi space campaign as the GM. What are the best systems for a flexible gaming experience without the autistic complexity of something like Shadowrun? I'm looking for a system that can run "magic" (Psionics, occultists, dark gods, etc) and high-tech weaponry and ships and stuff as well as madness mechanics mutations, cybernetics, horror elements, etc. Visiting weird planets, dealing with intergalactic politics, smuggling goods, assassinations, dealing with alien cultures, learning dangerous magic and technology, etc. I also want the players help make the setting so I'd prefer a flexible system that can handle a multitude of scenarios with cool aliens and stuff.

I've heard of Traveler, Starfinder, etc, I just wanna know what system(s) I should focus on learning about first. I'd rather not run it in a Star Wars DnD conversion or Feelings and Lasers. This crowd usually plays DnD or very simple games but are open to other games too. Again I've tried Shadowrun and I'd rather a system that isn't over-complicated and just has the hacking take up 90% of the screentime.
