The plasma gun is fine as long as you compare the 2-shots of the new one against the single shot of the old one at long range...which is the case. Help convince me of plasma being good against terminators, its destined target. Unironically change my mind.
At least they allowed combi-plasmas to use the supercharged profile this time, right?
>>
>>97284948
3 plasma guns and 2 melta guns do the same number of wounds to a cataphractii terminator, but the melta gun does 3 damage so it does technically double the damage...at half the range, so the plasma gun will get another turn of shooting in comparison and is harder to remove. And no, combi plasmas are frustratingly stuck in sustained.
>>
>>97284722
I'll not lie to you, anon. My old cumjar went rank and I needed a new sonic figurine. My family lovingly obliged. Problem with having a family that actually likes you, anon?
>>
>>97284921
>This makes terminators even better
A single Termie squad in its mandatory (it is) Land Raider probably costs as much as two TSS squads in their protective Rhinos, so the balance is still there.
Rather, I'd argue that I don't want to change the points cost of combi-weapons, as I don't want to pay something like Fifteen points for a single combi-weapon. Yuck! I'd rather tolerate single-shot combis.
Especially when a big trait of Banestrike combis, which also cost the same as others btw, is the fact that they get to shoot every turn instead of only once
>>

Sonic shit is for kids and it’s weird for adults to unironically buy or receive those things as gifts. Yes, the implication is you’re a weirdo

Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

>>
>>97283603
You don't need to lie to me bro I already know it's borderline nothing "yes but if you look it from this angle and you squint it kinda looks..."
It's "non female degrading-approved", that's the point the anon was making
It's edgy, but it's a kind of non-offensive edgy
stop
>>
For us kitbashers and crazy printers, how much do you try to abide by WSYWIG?
I make an honest attempt, because the base models I use a relatively cheap, so I can afford to use bits to glam them up and make what I want for different scenarios.
>>
>>97284800
Its hard to do it with campaign games as youll likely be upgrading or swapping equipment on units as the campaign progresses, so I just stick to something that can be approximated. Like ill make a model with a 1 handed sword, but in the profile I can just say its a 2 handed sword when I pay to swap the weapon out,, or a bolt action rifle is a semi auto rifle if I swap it out.

Its why its good to have a theme or intended upgrade path for units so you have something to model around. Remember, you really need about 20 models in reality for this, youll be adding and upgrading units over time.

Not that I know of. Maybe painting in very small patches and letting each patch dry completely before moving on to a patch on the opposite side of the piece. Or slowly "drybrushing" the whole piece and never truly having a pile of wet paint on it at any point.

>What EU media can I read next to not feel disappointed?
Thrawn Trilogy.

X-Wing novels for spec ops shenanigans mixed with Top Gun Star Wars Edition and the greatest essence of esprit du corps you'll ever see.

Then there's Medstar, Dark Rendezvous (kino Yoda, "I want a rose"), Coruscant Nights, Knights of the Old Republic (pic related, peakest and purest waifu), and many more. It really depends what you're after.
>>
Speaking of SW novels, I recently read Children of the Jedi since I found it at a used books store and was curious about how bad it actually is, considering it's often considered one of the worst novels.
I might just have low standards for genre fiction, because I didn't think it was all that bad. Ignoring the issues with the lore and timeline that the writer couldn't have known about since the prequels hadn't been written yet, the Belsavis mystery plotline was fine and got me invested in the characters trying to figure what was going on. But I must say that the book would have greatly benefitted from cutting or massively shortening the other plot. I almost audibly groaned every time the narrative switched from the Belsavis plot to yet more of Luke aimlessly wandering the corridors of an Imperial dreadnought filled with Gamorreans larping as stormtroopers. Probably not coincidentally, whenever people talk about how bad the novel is, they almost exclusively talk about the stupid Luke plotline, not the Han & Leia on Belsavis plotline.

I've spent the last year, studying, and designing a custom Arthurian set, originally intended to be based on Le Morte d'Arthur (like how P3k was based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms).

However, as I continued to study, and look into different (and some obscure sources) this turned into a much more wider net.

This set, which is no where near finished includes
>Welsh Triads and The Magnibong
>Pre-Vulgate Arthur traditions
>Vulgate/Post Vulgate/Lancelot cycles
>some English/Welsh fairy tales
>and even a bit of the Victorian Arthurian revival (especially for art).

I avoided the Italian and German romances entirely, and tried not to include weird outliners except when needed. Outside of art, nothing is sourced from the 20th century or onward. Also all art is public domain.

I'm mainly posting here for feedback. Some will be art recommendations, flavor text (especially sourced) will be always welcomed.

Giants are a big deal, both in early Arthurian lore, and in British lore in general. Jack the Giant Slayer isn't technically part of the romances, or even the Matter of Britian, but its common in tellings to place the story in 'the time of Arthur', and that is enough for me to justify using it for flavor text.

I honestly like how clean this vanilla is. I also like the Rackham art, showing this isn't a giant that you write ballads about, but a local menace.

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNLc8dHv0Ac

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

TL;DR:
>Updates to all wave 1 monsters to fit with strain and arc systems
>Rules for choosing and/or randomizing expansions and swapping stuff out along the node system
>A bunch of new campaigns and mini campaigns with accompanying monster minis
>legacy system for more effects on the world post campaign
>more crossover content between expansions like new combo armors, new settlement events, and calcified versions of expansion gear
>fixing a bunch of retarded shit like silk armor and flower knight being too easy and lacking real gear
>>
>>97282601
Call me a faggot, but this update, and the abyssal woods one now, are just great. The explorable space within the game is slowly becoming enormous.
Silver City too, is looking like it's going to be cool, and then there's IM and the Abyssal Woods. It's just absurd.
It gives me the same sort of feeling I got when I started to realise how the map was structured in Dark Souls - it all fits correctly into 3d space and you can see all sorts of other areas you can get to from your current position. A whole connected ecosystem seething with monsters and treasure just waiting to be encountered.
Sorry for the søyfull post. Please excuse me.
>>
>>97283913
I mean, they're cool, but I'd feel a lot better if poots had stuck closer to the pitch and left all the new campaigns and shit to their own expansions so we could've had COD in our hands 2 years ago like it was supposed to be...

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs!

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

They had a whole

setting, there were half sunken mechanical ships as lairs and a lot of neat stuff. Probably still up on Dungeon of Signs.

Seconding the GFC video.
This is a good blog post on the same subject if you're a reader.

A lot of osr was and still persists through blogs.
The wormskine ziners are a great mine for inspiration and material if you liked Dolemenwood.
As contrast to ACKS, An Echo Resounding and the later Worlds Without Number have a different approach to a similar goal and could be useful tools depending on how granular you want things to get.

>what is the most streamlined way to prepare a hexmap for my group of Pathfinder players to get a few sessions of play out of
Anon gave you a great answer, but as an alternative suggestion, consider not prepping your own map at all and using one of the Wilderlands of High Fantasy maps. They're a little bit harder to read than the colorful Basic-style maps, but the playability is unmatched, and if you want to expand the area of play there are lots more maps ready to hand. You can just plonk your dungeon down in any hex that seems reasonable. Alternatively there are also various remakes of the original Outdoor Survival map that was recommended for use in the original D&D box set from 1974; pic related is one. I hope you enjoy it, Anon!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he made them as supplementary material for an ASE game he was running. It looks like all his stuff for it is on the All Dead Generations blog now, together with some of his embarrassing political rambling.

It's B/X, so it's good. Personally I like the way he implemented addon AD&D material (in the Advanced Edition Companion) better than the way Norman did it for OSE, but that's a matter of taste.
