Fucking literal retard consider the noose
>>
>>96455291
>because of your faith
>only for the pure hearted
that's protestant shit (vanity), though it's better than jewish shit where you just have to be born into it. You're putting too much focus on the person being special, whereas with catholicism the point is nobody is special - everyone's shit and a sinner.
In reaching for the cross in their time of need that is a tacit submission to God and a plea to his mercy, regardless of whoever that person was before. Even the person returning to sin after the fact isn't a barrier to that (frankly it's expected).

>>96455515
Where I see shintoism sorta overlap with vampires (aside from touhou of course, but let's ignore that) is the general central tenent of the separation of the divine or pure, mundane, and profane into their own specific spaces. And that lines up with a lot of the traditional "anti-vampire tech" out there, if not all of them. Stuff like being unable to cross running water, having to be invited into homes, even garlic as a ward - it's very easy to find parallels with that and Shinto traditions such as Shimenawa or Ofuda (or even like setsuban if you want to stretch it). So in that hypothetical, I think that if you are running with the premise that shintoism affects vampires at all, warding and sealing are definitely within their wheelhouse.
Killing Vampires however? Less so. That's more within the realm of what gods would potentially do themselves than anything a priest or priestess would be doing.

>Probably SHOULD NOT include a cross however, unless Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour in Forgotten Realms (or whatever) as well.

Fun fact: Nobanian is Aslan is Jesus Christ.

Ed Greenwood himself added him into Forgotten Realms in an old Dragon article and straight up called him Aslan in it.

What made gnomes so special that they needed to be a core race for so long? they were only introduced shortly after the original races buts still stick around to this day. they are never really popular player races, and don't really fulfill the same fantasy tropes as the other races did
So why stick around as a core and not just be a later supplement?

Gnomes have a pedigree in real-world myth and legend at least as established as faeries and elves. The distinction between gnomes and dwarves is a relatively recent development in specifically Anglophone literature, in the sense that in original tales the characterization of the creatures depended upon the culture. In some regions, they were definitely what we today would call "gnomes". In others, they were more definitely like "dwarves". Making matters more complicated of course is that there isn't a consistent terminology used for either description.

But "short, inhuman folk of a semi-magical nature who live underground and create magical crafts" have been around for at least as long elves and faeries have.
>>
>>96459799
>They're just knock-off hobbits,
You answered your own question. Knock-off LotR is seen as 'generic fantasy'.
>>
>>96459609
They probably just didn't want to remove any core races, I don't think that had ever been done until 4e.
>>
>>96459601
>but why keep them around when the rule was long forgotten
Because despite the many retards here who seem to think halflings and gnomes are the same thing, they arent. They occupy their own niche of being a short magical pseudofey with an interest in innovative technology. The details of each race are fucking important to why they still exist and are separate concepts. That you lot of retards cant remember them or keep them straight in your heads doesn't give you an excuse to remove races.

As time has gone on each of these races has been given a specific niche, and expanded lore that makes them very different creatures. Thats why they stick around, they occupy a niche not covered by another race.

>>96460073
>both by having Gnomes not be core
Gnomes werent "core" in 4e because there was limited space in the first PHB and they wanted to include dragonborn and tieflings over the "standard" set of races. Beyond that the concept of the core race is something very stupid in 4e because they were released in the PHB 2, which is considered a core product for 4e alongside the PHB 3 and all DMGs.

Trench Crusade General - /trench/
Weird love Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

>They don't want to run one right now
Lowkey thinking of going to another store and seeing if they'll let me grass roots TC there. The problem is this other LGS feels like it's corporate run. Random new workers every few weeks and the only games they cater too are MtG and 40k. They also have an obscene amount of dice for dnd. I'm talking like a wall and a showcase just for dice
>>

>apparently the local mega lardass (who is a weird sycophant to the owner) and boomer owner are the only people who can run TC campaign/events
Man that goes pretty counter to TC in particular and FLGS's writ large. If there's another store nearby it's probably worthwhile to go elsewhere instead, but if not well just run games from home with whatever minis you can find
>>
>>96461388
Just ask for some one off games. You don't have to do a whole campaign.
>>
>>96455940
>>96453501
Homunculus are an interesting model since they become more cost effective in a campaign but are rarely worth it in a one-off.

It will pretty much always cost more to turn a Homunculus into a second-X than it would be to just buy X - but the resurrection feature and the larger sizes of end-campaign warbands means that becomes a much better value for money.

If you want one bull, you'd be better off buying a bull, but HoW can get you 2 almost-bulls.

Not even memeing here. In 25 years of playing rpgs probably 90% of the problem players I've ever encountered have exclusively played human male characters. Compulsive powergamer? Always human male unless their build specifically requires some racial feat or something, and even then they'll usually try to get the GM to let them have some special snowflake backstory for why their human male can ignore the prerequisite. Any sort of disruptive jackassery justified by but it's what my character would do? Almost always playing a human male. Creepy ERP weirdo? Usually playing a human male. Zero understanding of personal hygiene? Always playing a human male.

Depending on if it's Macross or Robotech, the zentradi might think the star league is the protoculture (in the original Macross, the titular super dimensional fortress is from a stereotypical progenitor race that the Zentradi are either rebelling against or at war with and its automated systems fire on them when they first show up, leading to them thinking they've finally found "the protoculture" that created them. In Robotech "protoculture" is an energy mcguffin on that ship which they're chasing down for normal resource war reasons). The clans would do little to disabuse them of that notion even if they have absolutely no idea what they're babbling about.

my local kill team group is growing. I’m a 40k main game player, bought these boxes for 40k. has anyone played these teams? Any recommendations on which one to start with? Or should I finish out my dire avengers for blades of khaine.

We know very little about the box overall. If you're just starting out, the Combat Patrol and/or the KT teams are a good starting point. As a new player, you don't really want or need the terrain as most places you will be playing at will already have terrain and the DW team is not a necron team. It will take a bit for the new stuff to get ported to the codex if you are interested in more than just Kill Team.

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

WIP "awakened" role. Claude helped me organize my ideas and fluff them up a bit.
Some topics to tackle
>What do I need to add?
>What do I need to change?
>what do I scrap?
Stuff I highlighted in yellow is things that I think need the most attention.
>choosing cyberware
Depending on your starting "body", the cyberware you choose may be limited. Thinking about compatibility between different bodies and such feels like it gets complicated fast. The easy answer is "only let players use standard humban-borg parts if they make it to a gemini body," or something to that effect, which might work, but I'd like the player to be able to upgrade their body piecemeal. They need to be able to customize and create cyborg parts akin to the kind humans use. They may need a techie friend they can trust to install them. Think Johnny 5 gearing himself up.

Next up, Stability,
>Stability loss and gain
Claude offered lots of examples, but I fear this may be more taxing than necessary for players to track stability loss/gain. If you think it looks alright, I can leave it be and let individual players figure out how they want to work it.

Do melee weapons require a clear sight too for autohits or once you're in combat, people are aware of the assassin?
I do know ambushes count but I'm thinking of:
>enter combat by ambush
>ally assassin throws smoke grenade to cover main assassin
>fight starts
>opponent lacks the cyberware to see through smoke or something, misses attack
>main assassin moves to behind opponent to further confuse opponent and strikes again
Normal hit or autohit? asking for red
>>
>>96457928
Smoke applies a penalty on attacks and shots through it, which by definition means you can attack or shoot people in smoke, which also by definition means you can see them even if they're "obscured".

They're normal hit beyond the initial ambush, but the target in smoke is going to take a -4 penalty to their evasion because you are obscured by the smoke.

As a Ref I would probably allow an automatic hit from your initial attack so long as its being made during the ambush.

If you want to hit and run to get another automatic hit I would require you to break line of sight in such a way that there is uncertainty where you are. Ducking behind a wall and then running back the way you came wouldn't be enough.

When doing an FBC, will you become scarier or cuter? Will you swap between bodies like Smasher?

> GM
At your discretion, NPCs have what you give em and if it makes sense for the character to have a “on job” and “off job” body then they’d customize it
> Player
Good fucking luck getting even 1 with the economy as it is and the cost to go from meat to metal in time, eddies, and humanity. After that point you’ll probably not have another body but just build out your current one to be amazing. If your frame is too big to hide then just rep it as style. No one will question your machine god chassis, but if by some miracle you manage to scrape enough eddies for another body it would probably be better to use that money elsewhere.

If you were given a FBC by a corp or something MAYBE you can get a swap body, but that’s just dressing on your gilded cage

that description of dwarves in the hobbit still lives rent free in my head after all this years. When tolkien describes the iron hills dwarves cresting over the hills, mattocks in hand, has to be the best part of that battle
