Visions bro...
>>
>>97398388
visions shmisions. They decided that they shouldnt just be marines +0.5 and thats good. It makes them more interesting as both a gameplay faction and as an element of the lore.

The emperors personal army using pulpy scifi superweapons and hovertanks is better than just painting the local legion armory gold. The worst unit in their roster is the contemptor for this very reason.
>>
>>97398396
I get what you're saying, that they are their own thing instead of being Common Core Plus.
I do like the common core, though? Everyone's a better marine armed with a better bolter and a better blade and a better armour?
You can totally have both! Esoteric Adrasithe in catamaran skimmers AND venerable land raiders.
Hance, plonk at thee.
>>
>>97398396
Nice try, James.

>visions shmisions
How about 8e and 9e codex fluff talking about how Land Raiders were part of the Custodes arsenal since the days of the Great Crusade?

God forbid a force geared so heavily towards close combat would have an assault tank on their side. Or an Imperial faction had access to the very best the Imperium has to offer, rather than Paul Marketing deciding that each faction has to have their own tools and under no circumstances can there be any sharing of kits, because of reasons. Yes, that makes so much more sense.

by my estimates there's like four or five dudes (counting me) interested in mortasheen and one or two dudes who come into these threads just to shit them up
this is not counting the possible appearance of bog or bonnie as wildcards
as a consequence this results in slow ass threads where we have very little to say

It’s not odd because he posts anonymously as well to boost his own threads, since it’s in his best interest to do so.

it’s really not that shocking. People on 4chan aren’t going to react to his dumb behaviour on the internet dishonestly and the anonymity gives a channel for his stalkers to interrupt any genuine interest in the game anyways. Makes me sad because there was clearly a lot of hard work put into this.

sadly i think this is not really a game you'll get to talk about much unless you happen to have a circle of weird little freaks you're friends with that you can share it with

This is fucking stupid and this little goblin is a fucking retard. Yeah, sure, let's go full retard hippie mode, and let the likes of Grievous exterminate trillions of sentient beings unchecked, because, ugh, muh SERVING DA FORCE! I love how fucking vague and non-specific this is. This doesn't actually SAY what the Jedi should do, but it puts BLAME on them all the same, under the guise of "wisdom". As if saving millions of lives isn't "serving the Force". Except joining the war and fighting it was entirely moral and justified, as Lucas said himself many times, because the Separatists led by Sidious, Dooku and Grievous were entirely 100% Empire-tier EVIL, with fucking doomsday machine used on innocent civilians every other week. These comic books are so insanely fucking overrated, it hurts. It's maddening that there are quite a lot of people out there claiming as if this is some deep profound shit and better than what Lucas did. It's not. The only good thing about these comic books is Aayla Secura being sexy. Quinlan Vos is such an annoying writer's pet. He is also terribly boring. He has no defining character traits and no personality. I have read Quinlan Vos: Jedi in Darkness omnibus, that's 500 pages of comic books about him, and I still can't tell you what his personality is. He has none. He is sometimes edgy, but otherwise just a stock generic Jedi master. Written no different than Windu, or Tholme, or anyone else. With the exception of Villie, all of the Ostrander's characters are the same. Oh, and his Anakin is also terribly out of character. These comics are very boring and overrated.

>>97396856
>Or Battle of Galidraan, where Mandalorians were framed, all so Jedi could be used to eliminate them.
This was fucking retarded also, and the Jedi were written entirely out of character in that comic book. But also, even with that mind, Jango was at fault. He started the battle with the Jedi and opened fire on Dooku. He had no one to blame but himself.

Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?

Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. But feel free to talk about any game you've had experience with.

If I am brutally honest there are some models I like from PGI though there are others I don't. My main criticism is that a fair chunk of their designs are way too fat and their hardpoint system ruins the aesthetics of many designs but did like some of their takes on some of the unseens.
>>

A Bradley is not light. A Bradley does not punch above its weight. It is a heavy IFV. A premier piece of warfighting equipment. It would best match to high tech slow lights that hit hard.

>Clan
Adder, Cougar
>>
>>97397665
Not sure the analogy is right but I'd say the Raptor for the IS. Not the best protected thing in the world but extremely well armed for something its weight and being an Omni can bring its own BA support without slowing down. Arctic Fox I'd say also falls into this category but I am not too fond with a lot of the configs.
Clans you've got a choice of the Kit Fox, Adder or Cougar depending what config you go for. They ain't the fastest designs but they can pack a punch.

Did you know that in 1999 Dan Abnett did a comic that was basically a wholesale rip-off of 40k except the main character was this vampire lady that he had all the other characters constantly talk about how sexy she was.

It had a feudal space Catholic empire that oppressed mutants, and even had elite warriors with implanted organs and cybernetics using weapons called bolters. Later Dan Abnett had the MC tame a bolter warrior with her vampire pussy.

>gameplay
For Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.
>fantasy settings
They're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions.
>loadouts for fantasy
If you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.

Sure it's not the worst new players but I would like to get sensible progress over a 3-4 hour session.

if possible I'd keep trying to introduce them to established DnD settings (or Pathfinder settings) since that game seems to be one they're the most familiar with. Trying to drag them kicking and screaming into a whole new set of books and a heavily immersive world of lore might be difficult. You could also look at games like the Warhammer 40k RPGs by Fantasy Flight Games, or Wrath and Glory, since those are specifically designed around an established setting that they have to learn and understand or else their characters will be swiftly deleted by the Imperial authorities.
>>
>>97398305
Good advice, yeah I'll consider it. I just like WoD more than Warhammer and DnD but maybe I should keep it in mind.
>>
>>97398343
Eventually, if they show a positive progression of appreciation for worldbuilding and deep lore, introducing them back to WoD should be much more successful.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

A masquerade is much more common, easier to world build for since most of real history still happens, and much easier to get people to relate to what is happening since it uses the real world as reference.

An urban fantasy setting without masquerade has a much more difficult time world building but also a lot more creative freedom in how the existence of the supernatural impacts the modern world and you have a lot more stuff you can come up interesting things for.
>>
>>97397912
The latter. Hidden magic generally either involves either ass worldbuilding or contrivances on the level of "the planet is sentient and fucks with people's senses to keep them from realizing magic exists when they really fucking ought to". Or shit magic.

>>97398024
>A masquerade is much more common, easier to world build for since most of real history still happens, and much easier to get people to relate to what is happening since it uses the real world as reference.
This presupposes that the setting is meant to be some equivalent of the real world Earth.

Literally nothing stops you from doing a masquerade on an alternate "present" or past or future for that matter.
>>
>>97398087
>This presupposes that the setting is meant to be some equivalent of the real world Earth.
>Literally nothing stops you from doing a masquerade on an alternate "present" or past or future for that matter.
I guess, but at that point you're getting the worst of both. Like it's much harder to world build since you have to do it for both a hidden and open world and people will have less ways to relate to it.

Could still be fun though.
>>
>>97398114
>people will have less ways to relate to it
Eh, you can have an alternate world and still have it be highly relatable. And setting something on an alternate world can free you up from having to crowbar the shit you want to do in around real world history/politics/religions/etc. It's not all downside in that regard.

A good example of this done well is the Ace Combat series. It's set on a completely alien earth just to avoid having to do the stock Ubisoft ass-covering every fucking game.

I don't mean to imply that WW1 disproves christian theological doctrine (which is largely irrelevant to the average person's understanding of christianity anyway), I'm just pointing out what historically happened in Europe at the time. Ah yes, the magnificat. That grand new primaris organ which not only enhanced standard space marines, but conveniently corrected that rather irritating compatibility flaw they once suffered from.
Cope however you like. After the femstodes precedent, this outcome is inevitable and you know it.

Only competitive players matter.

Nah. Its MUCH more likely that if GW wants to create female space Marines, they'll really go balls deep on ass fucking their own established lore and say one of the "lost legions" (2nd or 11th) were actually ruled by a Matriarch, meaning her sacred gene seed could recreate her legions in the modern setting. One loyalist female marine chapter, and one chaos female marine chapter.

Screenshot this NOW because I can almost guarantee it. And this is coming from a guy who HATES all Spess Mehreenz legions.

I was testing the waters when they went from 8th to 9th.
Removing Templates was a sticking point because one of the few army concepts I had was "Penal Legionaries screening for Artillery" and what good is that without Pie plates of Death?!

>This. If you are not a competitive player (meaning you are not retarded), make your own canon with only the things you like. No one can stop you.
You mean like... FEMALE SPACE MARINES?!

I don't care if the lore changes, or how it changes, only that chuddie duddy tears flow because breaking fashy toys to improve the world is so satisfying and what we need right now

How do the primaris organs "fix" the older organs? Like, the organs are implanted one after another over a long period of time, so how do the primaris organs (one of which is just metal cables) make the other organs work differently in the jar they're being kept?

Lets assume they magically "fix" the "flaw", how do the organs work now? The whole idea is they enhance the natural development during puberty. Men and women go through different puberties with different hormones and growth patterns. So do the organs just make women go through super woman puberty and become extra feminine?
