Nonsense, Andor wears everything it's doing right on its sleeve and delivers its themes directly to you with flowery speeches. The problem isn't that people don't get Andor. The problem is the god awful pacing of Season 2 that makes everything besides the Ghorman Massacre fall flat.

I just had a fantastic session and feel great. DMing may be hard, but it's one of the most rewarding things on the planet.
We're playing 3.5 after years of 5e, and we're loving it. It's so much more tactically interesting and enjoyable!

I'm also running Savage Tide for my kids (20-somethings) adapted to 5E and it's really good. Currently on Serpents of Scuttlecove (The Wreck). I'm building a 3D battlemat for that one right now and hope to finish it this weekend.

The campaign as written is pretty brutal, and I tend to be pretty forgiving since the players are not super experienced (and they're my daughters!). But when handled carefully, it's one heck of a ride. :)

Holy shit nice! Yeah, I almost TPK'd theme in Bullywug Gambit when I rebuilt a level 6 cleric into a level 7 druid. But they just barely squeaked out a win.

My issue with Cathay is that I think the lore they ended up getting was uninspired, and a massive missed opportunity to boot - especially in the context of TOW.

Cathay could have been set up as a series of factions/dynasties controlled by each of the Dragon Emperor's children (each dynasty could pull influence from a real-world Chinese dynasty). The Dragon Emperor determines the ruling dynasty, and that dynasty falls out of power when it loses the Emperor's favour (i.e. losing the mandate of heaven).
With TOW being set around the age of three emperors, it would have been a great opportunity to juxtapose the established Empire lore with the new Cathay lore to highlight its differences. Catahy could have been in the middle of one of these dynastic transitions (think Yuan to Ming, or Ming to Qing in the real world), which could have also worked as a justification for having Miao Ying in the Empire, as she could have been earning glory to curry favour with her father.
>>
>>97204022
Eh, Cathay is imo a massive piece of shit, but there's still time to reverse course. No idea if they will but there's a lot of potential to do bait and switches. Some of the new teased Cathay models with extremely unsubtle hints of Tzeentchian corruption were positive additions so they are at least setting themselves up for the potential to show us how all the posturing of being a perfect utopia is just propaganda.

There's probably going to be some twist that the Starbeasts are man made or something at some point as well.

By /m/ standard it's fully acceptable, just another mechanized vehicles, but it's not mecha by in a useful terminology.

>BEHOLD! A MAN!
Unless it is capable of crossing obstacles without using its tracks, it fails at the "limbed locomotion" criteria.
If it is capable of that, I have no problem with a mecha that use wheels/tracks/flight most of the time.

>Everything [...] influences war
I fear that by having this discussion we are (accidentally?) cooperating for mutual understanding & profit.

>I'm a strong advocate in my older age that the maximum any series should be is 50 episodes, and ideally should only be 8-24
In my old book what matter is for stories to be started with an ending in mind. Episodic stuff is a distinct matter.

I once ran a campaign like that.
>The main premise was that a huge force of pirates starts harassing a crucial world without any reason or clear goal.
>Turns out they are Union false flag
>As players dig deeper, they learn that Galsim is a sham. It's been giving inaccurate predictions for centuries.
>But Union leadership is so indoctrinated into the idea of it being always right they start to "fix" its mistakes by stirring shit in real world to match the simulation.
>Players join a military coup and storm Mars facility to switch off the simulation
>Destroying the minds causes a new Age of Strife style dark age

>In the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou (werewolves) were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.
>From this morass of hatred and mutual betrayal, there is little hope that the Garou can emerge triumphant against a foe so well armed as the Wyrm. The Wyrm promises money, power, sex, and whatever else the heart desires to its followers while the Garou receive no reward for their striving. It drives them deeper and deeper into despair, or into betrayal so deep that they choose to serve the Wyrm instead.

Wroth

I feel like this edition has alot of objectively bad things about it and is absolutely where the alot of worst qualities of current editions showed up. But I feel like I prefer playing this edition compared to a lot of previous editions and 10th edition. Its a weird transitional period where there's still a lot of the old units that haven't been legended yet while still having the fucking Primaris lot. Its strange but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much staying on this edition and playing with friends casually instead of going back to playing the current edition.

I was with you until you started behaving just like that Zoomer triggered by Lodoss.

Dungeon Meshi, Frieren, GS and even Konosuba are really good shows/Novels and just because you have a chip on your shoulder about Adventurer Guilds and Isekai doesn't make it less true you blithering troglodyte.

Konosuba is many ways similar to Slayers in that it lovingly pokes fun at Isekai-Tropes while Slayers poked fun at the Japanese Version of western fantasy.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e, BECMI, retroclones NSR and newer) are not OSR should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creator in its first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.
