>>97285777>The issue is the difference between 1d20+5 and 1d20-1Except you're talking about a Warlock. They only get light armor. Them having 14 Dex to swing a rapier is entirely reasonable, and that'd be 1d20+4 at low levels. And if the feature to use Charisma didn't exist and they really wanted to use a non-finesse weapon, there's nothing that stops them from investing 14 into Strength to get that anyway. And even if they did still decide to dump strength, it still wouldn't be 1d20-1, because they still have proficiency with the weapon in question.Your complaint seems to just be that Warlock gets a free bonus to hit with melee weapons after picking a melee-weapon oriented feature. Blade Pact could just give them a +2 magic weapon instead of letting them use Charisma, but something tells me that wouldn't suddenly make the feature any more acceptable in your eyes.

>>97272190Well yeah there's that side to it, but also in general the whole point of having these rules is to provide a simulation of "reality" (as reality exists in that universe). If say, just for one example a regular human in only a bodysuit is tanking more damage than an ogryn, that weakens the simulation. The more this kind of thing is done the more it erodes this framework put in place to provide such a simulation, and nothing fucking matters right? You're all working to collaboratively make this big cool story, but if you're not following a cohesive set of rules your story is tantamount to toddlers in the sand pit bashing toys together and blowing raspberries. Like who cares if X character did something real epic and survived Y to pull off Z when this character is coated in plot armour and constantly rolling crazy high, nigh impossible to fail tests because we're all ignoring what's actually on the character sheet and the action/combat rules in the book? Just something to bring up to them and see what they say.
>>97282674Totally agree. If you don't want to use the system then don't use the system in my opinion.>>97279937The main thing is if your dudes are having fun at the end of the day and it sounds like they are. For me personally you're just not playing dark heresy, you've taken it and changed it into something else. It's funny to me because dark heresy is system I see being bastardized this way the most. You even see it on /tg/ where people recount epic tales but when you know the system you're like "they either were not following RAW by miles, or they're making it up."
I'm a sucker for romance arcs in games (actual romance not ERP), anyone have any fun stories linked to that?

>>97234923It does, but admittedly just taking infantry weapons and making them big does look slightly silly. But then again if you have a giant metal man, why purposefully reinvent the wheel in terms of the weapons? Ultimately I think aesthetics edge it out for me in this regard. The giant SPAS-12 in AC6 looks weird to me.
>>97228530I have a soft spot for it. Stuff like MechWarrior and Earthsiege were my first taste of mecha. Even if 'mechs are more mobile than they are depicted in MechWarrior. >>97262919half of all mecha content is pve video games, whats your point?
>>97283697Most of all mecha content is a boy and his robot type anime from the 70's-80's. Videogames would barely cover 10% of it, pve or otherwise, and they mostly stopped making them entirely about 10 years ago.

>>97258179Okay, how about this:>The dark lord is a shortstack fetishfag that is preparing a foul sorcerous ritual that will permanently polymorph every dwarf into a female, bimbofied version of themselves.>His actions will at best replace an entire species with lobotomized, half-breed sex objects> At worst, this will straight-up result in extinction of the dwarves with the replacements eventually dying out too due to lack of general fitness/competence.Is that sufficient motivation?
>>97258165Too low level
Tell me about your Dark Sun campaigns. You do play in the most brutal D&D setting ever, don't you, anon?
>>97272515Tyr's decennial rains were late and the dragon was spotted. Kalak proclaimed games w/ 5,000 participants. The dragon would get his pick of 1k of the victors and the rest would be set free. The players started at level 1 as purchases by a noble on a plantation outside the city. The rains came in a deluge and they escaped, fleeing into the city as it poured for days and days. Recruited by what was left of a nearly-purged veiled alliance, they were in the warrens in the leaking basement of an inn, trying to find a way through undertyr to reach the noble district. They freed one of the last surviving members of the veiled alliance through a daring raid on a villa in the templar district. Explored the undercity and fought some dwarf banshees and accidentally killed a cistern fiend not realizing that you generally don't wanna do that. They stole the plans for the ziggurat from a different noble's house and almost burned down market at Shadow Gate trying to get away. Then the campaign fell apart because scheduling fuckery. The premise had been "what if Freedom, but the Veiled Alliance had failed and everyone was dead, and had to start over from scratch?" Didn't get very far.
Can they release Dark Sun now or is it too problematic atm?

>>97285399I'd have more respect for all the WAACfags infesting HH if they were at least honest about it. Instead they bitch and whine about the rules being wrong when it doesn't support their "narrative"
So, the most resilient Astartes are Salamanders because of their trait, Iron Hands because of their trait and units, and Death Guard because of their units. Is that right?Every Iron Hand is hard to kill, and their special terminators even more so. But for the Death Guard, it's just a specific unit and their characters, innit? They are great, but I sometimes wonder how it relates back at to the spirit of the fluff and rules we were presented since HH1.The Death Guard is a great legion, to be sure. But they seem better at jogging that at being hardy idk. Like, Phraetus also are EW and Gal Vorbak are 3W but we don't call the Word Bearers a resilience legion
>>97285451The death guard reputation wasn't for being extraordinarily tough in the HH, it was for being enduring, IE, they were the better iron warriors not the better iron hands. Grinding assaults and all that.
>>97285459Hmm. They used to resist Pinning's and Crew Stunned's immobilizing effect before. Unstoppable u.u

>>97285559If yummy isnt dead this month because konami wants to keep it around, expect everything around it to die for it. Arc light already went from 3 to 1 because of it.
>>97285651Arc Light going from 3 to 1 is not a bad thing. It does not do good things when it hits the field, and miraculously it took until Yummy's release to get an archetype that puts out multiple consistently. Konami could just print another extra deck monster with a functionally identical dump effect (search ritual stuff) and nothing would be lost.
I fucking love Dueling NexusI'm sad Master Duel doesn't support Edison since I like the polish more
>>97285651The blame realistically falls harder on Habakiri than Yummy or Arclight, but Arclight is likely going to be the sacrificial banlist offering until Konami gets tired of Habakiri.
What is the gameplay benefit to having monsters that can't be destroyed by attacks? What problem does this solve?
>In the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou (werewolves) were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.>From this morass of hatred and mutual betrayal, there is little hope that the Garou can emerge triumphant against a foe so well armed as the Wyrm. The Wyrm promises money, power, sex, and whatever else the heart desires to its followers while the Garou receive no reward for their striving. >>97283693This is some genuine nu-White Wolf cope. The Get are strength fetishists sure but they aren't so ignorant as to think only physical strength and SMASH THE WYRM NOW is the only thing that matters. The books regularly talk about how they appreciate intellect and mental fortitude as well, and that strength is more than one's ability to throw a rock real well. All the Garou tribes have their ups and downs, CoG for example are much better natured and more likely to resolve things amicably and peacefully, but they lack a strong familial focus and their method of treating kinfolk in a laissez-faire manner without actually treating them like a proper family, because of "muh commune", is directly what led to shit like Samuel Haight.
Why do "modern" and modern people go insane when they see some eldritch blorblo, but Conan could just kill it without going "aaaaaahhh save me niggerman!!!!!"
>>97282469Reading The Challenge from Beyon,d which was a weird tales Round robin story that both Lovecraft and Howard contributed, is a very funny read to compare their styles since REH section comes straight after Lovecraft's, leading to the biggest whiplash in tanystory i can't think of
>>97283170Solomon Kane fights a Shoggoth in The Footfalls Within, and I'm pretty sure conan fights a Lovecraft-esque old one in The Slithering Shadow
>>97285734>how fucking dare you reply to my shitpost with a shitpost! you're so precious. also thanks for proving my point.
>>97281870because people in the old times actually believed in the stories about monsters and demons so when they inevitably appear they weren't taken aback by the existence of such creatures.meanwhile, us modern folk have been brought up with the notion that science and logic disallows the supernatural. As a result, when the supernatural happens our very worldview shatters to pieces along with our sanity.
>>97285715People legitimately don't get Lovecraft. It isn't being afraid of a fish or that you don't matter, it's the fear of finding out you're on a ticking time bomb, you don't know how long's left on the timer, and you cannot get away, ever.
Do you include seasonal changes in your campaigns when time goes by?If so, what do you implement int the world to showcase the changing seasons?I personally include sea raiders who begin assaults on the kingdom's shores in spring and through summer, who then return to their homeland in fall to winter it out. So essentially a raiding season for my world's vikings, like in real history.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWc0DvoY6qw
>>97276586I actually had no fucking clue what you were talking about with T2K until I thought about it for five minutes and realized it takes place mostly in the summer after the war. I would kind of like to play that game in the winter of 2001, though you'd have to do a lot of homebrew lore the cover six months of very dense history. Second edition revision sucks by the way
>>97278019>I actually had no fucking clue what you were talking about with T2KI suspect you still don't, there's much more beyond what you've apparently barely read in the time between me mentioning it and you posting that. I'll give you more time to research, my nogames friend.
