They really are wonderful. A bit on the small side, but that was the style at the time. I have another one with a boar's head left but it has to soak in paint remover for a while longer. Overall, I'd declare this very stupid idea I had a success, and the model I'll be using to represent my daemon prince is now complete. I only missed one really terrible looking mold line, but it is what it is.

This box kinda sucks

An ideal box is 30 state troops, 20 handgunners, 8 knights, and a cannon/mortar
>>
>>97336904
That would be too many kits in one box
All the Battalion boxes are just three normal TOW boxes combined into a single one.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:
https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/

They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ

Good question
I'm thinking since HL tends more ranged, you make NA more melee focused, plenty of grenade/club mooks and short ranged Fireteam shooting
The game is simple enough that whatever warbands you bring will most likely give a good demonstration
What I think I'd important is that you go through the post game sequence with both players
That not only gives them a good idea of what a campaign is like but makes them want to try the new stuff they got in another game

Honestly I think that guy's correct.
Time pressure is how the game is actually supposed to be played, so the PCs have to keep pushing on. If there's no time-pressure, it's easy-mode.
In this case, the consequences of "This girl is going to crumble under pressure" makes sense, the same way a guy being tortured is eventually going to break. In a way they're kind of the same thing.
You can't take your time, it's a top priority.

Lets talk about what makes a player or GM truly great? Is it how a player makes their character, roleplay at the table, a GM who is very descriptive, etc.
Or we can share stories about really good players or GMs we met at our own tables.

Yes. We had to cull the weak before our current stable group was formed. One week cancelled quickly turns into multiple, eventually they haven't showed up for months. A lot of people just don't have it.
>>
>>97336361
Sadly, they can be. There's chronic liars who show up before the game starts, make a PC, then show up once or never, and complain about not playing for months after that.
There's people that always comes late, or doesn't read the group chat, or says they're not coming at the last minute "because they're tired" (while they work 20 hours per week and I can touch 60)...they don't have the balls to say they don't care, or they don't even realize it, for them the game night is just something that is there, if there's something else to do they deem better, they do that without a second thought.
>>
>>97336400

Got lucky then with mine. Could imagine there being a lot of newcomers however who lose interest again because it is not their thing. Ofc they then could simply tell it is not their thing instead of simply ghosting the group.

Hm, the ones that somehow still come but do not really engage in the game are a problem. Think a group can tolerate one of these but not more.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs!

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Thanks. I point a webcam at it and stream it to my players. We don't use it for anything other than combat, and it's generally just used to clarify positioning of enemies and terrain. Realistically, it's an excuse for me to show off my miniatures and terrain but my players enjoy it.

Imagine the sex.

Let's say, hypothetically, someone, not me, were to have, allegedly, altered the atomic structure of Warp Stone. Now let's say, HYPOTHETICALLY, it caused a cascade effect that resulted in all Warp Stone in existence being altered the same way.

Now, this Warp Stone might, MIGHT, have a 99.9% chance of altering the behavior of Skaven exposed to it to experience a complete reversal of their usual traits, mannerisms, behaviors, personalities, and such. Now it might, POSSIBLY, make them 100% aware that they are altered and unable to stop their new behaviors no matter how hard their inner thoughts are screaming at them to stop.

In the event this completely hypothetical situation occurs, what kind of repercussions might one expect from being the cause of such an event?

Can anyone help me between these games:

Twilight Imperium 4

Arcs (+ Blighted Reach)

Eclipse 2nd Dawn?

How similar are they? My brother already has Arcs+BR, but his birthday is coming up. I hear TI is the best experience possible IF* you can actually get it to the table - stories told for years-like.
Some people say Blighted Reach is the same, just playable at lower player counts and cut into 3.

Eclipse has the best combat and upgrades I believe, but does it also produce stories and epic moments like the other two?
>>
>>97336838
What do you like about Arcs+BR?
>>
>>97336838
they're quite different, Blighted Reach is similar in game length and complexity but it's got the added twist of your fate (and goals, and abilities) changing between every act.
Eclipse is more eurogame-y for people that like maximizing resources and counting complex odds, TI4 is more for the freestyler and car salesman with it's simpler combat odds, almost unrestricted trading, and Strategy card and Command Tokens systems, and Arcs is more for the gambler who likes adapting to the cards he's given and the situation on the board.
I think they all are good but it is true, getting TI4 to the table is hard since it takes longer than Eclipse or Small Arcs, and unlike Blighted Reach you can't really pack the game away mid-game and resume later since the game was never made for that.
>>
>>97336838
Arcs is wehrletrash, so if you're into his style of game it will by far be the best of the bunch. If not, don't even think about it

Ti4 vs Eclipse comes down to what you like in your space 3/4x. Eclipse has a far bigger focus on the euro-esque elements amd economy. Building your ships is a lot of fun, and no matter what some anons say, combat is far less swingy provided you have a rough understanding of how probabilities work. Ti4 is a much longer but far more "epic" experience. Where eclipse abstracts trade and alliances in a (for me) largely unstatisfying way, Ti4 is all about it. Honestly the best resource exchange system I've seen in any game, especially the small but brilliant addition of promissary notes. Don't confuse Ti4 for space risk or you'll have a bad time, war is VERY costly, movement is slow. I like the idea of an agenda phase far more than it actually is, often it's just a timesink with very little consequence...except the times it massively changes everything. Never played with a curated deck, but I'd like to. Factions vary vastly in power level, but the game by its nature relies on player interaction to keep the balance.

I like both eclipse and Ti, but despite being more of a euro person I would play Ti4 if I had the choice. Thing is, you need at least 5, better 6 people to actually play a good game of it, and said people need to be prepared to play for 6-10 hours. Eclipse hits the table more often and is the better design if I'm honest, but Ti4 captures a certain grandness and 'event game' feeling whilst still being pretty streamlined and clear.
>>
>>97336962
>Arcs is wehrletrash
Arcs is the less werletrash of all wherle games. I think it might be more elegant than pax pamir 2, base game at least

JOTC Gavin and Nosewater shifted all the power from UW to UB sets. And since power in Magic generates shekels, the greed of competitive players moves the money that way. JOTC are literally forcing design to give players no real choice; buy the slop and win, or stick with real Magic and lose.
