>>97294892I'm in an infernals game so obviously the biggest edit so far is making Lillun less of a stupid edgelord thing.
>>97300955Because they're dead and GET killed them
>>97300952Water Fleet is currently by far the most powerful of the fleets, I'm pretty sure, and I think that controlling it would be just about right for a single House. Enough for them to be on par with the other Houses, not enough for them to overwhelm the other Houses.
>>97301086Making some big assumptions there. It could very easily be like Compass: Malfeas, and GET only kills demons, and killing all the demons was how to shortcut around the hassle of killing a Primordial directly. GET only says it was used against the enemies of the gods, after all, and Primordials are meant to be even more abstract and un-interactable in 3e.
>>97301361I think the bigger assumption is making that entire excuse instead of just accepting the Devs are fuckups

What is the ultimate fantasy race? To me, its Orcs.
>>97294187Furries.
>>97295922Yes
I love concepts of Ogre mages and Troll shamans, basically all brute races who also have potential for magic.
>>97294187Its unambiguously Elves. Elves basically *define* the fantasy genre, they are inescapable. You can swap out orcs with any other kind of monster or threat, or choose to exclude dwarves entirely, but you always find yourself back at using some kind of elf even if you change minor details about them or call them something different.

Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: What are some systems or you would like to include or see included in a campaign, but haven't been able to? They don't have to be the main focus of the game, having them only as something on the side is okay.
Can you base an intimidation attempt on another attribute, like strength or dexterity? My willpower is extra low but I've got a good strength.
>>97301240>there is a soft cap of attribute + 10Wouldn't that mean a 40 year carpenter will definitely have carpentry at about 20 or so barring mental or physical degeneration? Old timers are good a lot of the time but they don't seem THAT good. What explains that? Shifting standards, techniques, and tools keeping them at SL 13 - 16?
>>97301240Damn so there's some carpenter out there with over 20 skill in carpentry?>>97301244You can ask the GM to allow you to make a complementary skill check to help, plus you get natural bonuses for being bigger than the dude or something. But no, you can't normally switch the attribute.
>>97301259What about in more complicated situations where your personal willingness to act against the target isn't a factor? For example if I'm a bystander to a street fight between two guys, if I say the other guy is a badass and will leave you fucked up in the gutter, what would that be? Still intimidation surely but not in a way that seems like it has anything to do with my personal willingness one way or the other.
>>97301350In that case you're helping the other guy intimidate. That's probably fast talk.Intimidate is specifically about (you) looking threatening.

>>97292505>>97292824There was a MERP adventure dealing with pirates of Umbar, where the female PCs who are non-ugly blondes/redheads get preferential treatment if they are captured by pirates because of their value as slave girls. It also had an encounter where the pirates go out of their way to kidnap a Gondorian noblewoman NPC, and if they are successful it puts more urgency on the quest and she is later found from the pirate stronghold. And we can't forget Fantasy Trip's Sex Appeal ability, that can be used in combat to prevent a female PC getting actually killed by the final blow of victorious enemy, and she is dragged away as spoils of war instead for possible latter rescue or escape.

>>97300682Oh thank God. Terrific to hear that we are not starting the year with Masquerade violations. As for the captives, bring them to the court on the evening of the sixth of January. The Prince intends to conduct an official judgment, and most likely public executions, on Orthodox Christmas, for the sake of auspiciousness of such a date. Aggrieved parties may be granted the right to do a given person in, so your uncle can look forward to that, as an option. Same as with other such functions, anybody interested in observing justice be made can attend. Hopefully this actually will put an end to the Palatine's fuckery in our city, and she won't show up unannounced to bail out her associates. I've also been informed that the university Toreador coterie intends to decorate the court and overall dress up for a slightly-old-timey, campy Christmas theme, not quite fitting the Orthodox part but what can you do. They've, for their participation in the raid, asked me to try and puts Tats into a remarkably ugly reindeer sweater, so if I suddenly cease communicating, presume that I've been torn limb from limb by her.>>97290835The Prince separately thanks you for your attendance, and extends a free favor of your choosing to you and yours, to be cashed in whenever you'd like.

After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session. Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away. And i prefer physical copies. >>97301065>Pointbuy became standardLOLOf course you're not aware, you'd have to play games.
>>97301157NTA, but it depends on the edition.PB was popular in 3.x, Array was popular in 4e, especially since 4e had multiple different arrays you could choose.5e can functionally work with rolling because the stat spread doesn't quite handicap you as hard (in theory) due to BA.

If your setting doesn't have them you're doing something fundamentally wrong.

>>97296136Ok, off you pop.>>97296310I only really understand MTG, and Pokemon; Yugioh has too many weird alternative summoning means, and side-deck shenanigans, and I haven't read a rulebook since the first base sets came out, and I am told it has changed, also the cards have too many special effects. And I think i saw some duel masters cards once.I will read the documentation; you have attempted to explain it to me before.Likening it to other systems is a better explanation method on one level, but on another, presumes too much foreknowledge.
>>97298455>I only really understand MTGsee >>97282554for the mechanics explained in MTG terminology, presuming MTG basic knowledge.>Yugioh has too many weird alternative summoning means, and side-deck shenanigans, and I haven't read a rulebook since the first base sets came out, and I am told it has changed, also the cards have too many special effects.none of this applies to this game. the only shared aspect is the combat system - ie haste, trample, and picking the target of the attack.>And I think i saw some duel masters cards once.the duel masters land/mana system just means there are no dedicated lands - a land is any card you play upside down from your hand, giving its border color as mana
>>97298501That's neat, because I am spiritually eleven and energy cards are gay.
>>97294063Here are some more card samples. There is a list of changes that need to be implemented (card design (as seen above), additional effect type symbols, and further tuning/calibration of the effect-cost distribution). There is also a list of prospective rule-level changes, which can tested without any changes to the physical cards, that need to be done before the above list can be implemented via a reprint.I will continue to test these on my own, but it would be helpful anyone wants to test these, or just provide feedback on the current iteration of the ruleset. I'm especially looking for tier 1 decks (which I have 2 of atm), inferior/weak cards, and cards/effects that cause disruptive, unbalanced, or unfun gameplay (mostly this is found in energy/land removal gimmicks atm, but I still haven't fully explored the counter plays to this.)The game being sent out is good, with most games lasting 7-10 turns and 20-40 minutes, but it can be a lot better. In my experience with several people ranging from 1/10 to 10/10 TCG experience, the game with its current ruleset can be learned in 1-3 games (this is with me explaining as we play). People with competitive MTG experience can pick it up in less than 1 game, and mostly have to overcome certain MTG habits that are not as advantageous in this game. Also, the underlying game design is completely independent of the card images/names, so there will be an opportunity to change/update them before the reprint, so feel free to submit any memes/characters/images/concepts/structures.Comment too long. >>97288743I tend to keep riddles and logic puzzles straightforward on the "main branch" of a quest, but lock super loot and outlandish player asks behind lateral thinking puzzles.Bear in mind; a riddle doesn't always have to be posed as a literal riddle. It could be making a jaded aristocrat laugh, or solving an in-universe logistical problem with in-universe logic, or yes, deciphering a two steps left substitution cipher or some such thing your probably stoned probably half asleep mates would spend weeks trying to crack.

No dying yet, i still have work to do
Thoughts on this:I have a size category system. It would integrate perfectly into my item system where a +1 size sword does +1 damage and takes +1 more stamina to wield. ButSize scaling is nonlinear, so a size +5 sword might do +15 damage and take the same to wield, which breaks other elements and more importantly, is too autistic to ever function. It would also fuck up material value of items, so id basically end up writing a physics simulator instead of a gameClearly i cant do thatButIt works so well...What would a sane person do here? Abandon the idea? Do a halfhearted implimentation and hope noone looks at it too closely? Or descend into madness and end up writing a videogame?
