There isn't a counter-cultute because there is no broader uniting culture. For the most part, people have broken off into insular communities within communities. 4chan is a great example. You like video games? There's a board for you. Do you prefer mobile games, old games, or RPGs? Those have boards too. Maybe you only like a certain niche genre? There's a general on /vg/ for it.
People choose who they interact with in their own echo chambers. /tg/ is no different.
The internet fractured culture massively. You can find a subreddit for fucking anything. You can block any subs you don't like. Everything is curated, everything is optimized. Love or hate, love to hate, doesn't matter. There is something somewhere for everyone and someone to sell it.

That doesn’t sound like a problem to me. It just reflects a reality that some places are going to be more familiar with the Jedi than others. This can be the result of any number of factors, how close you are to coruscant, how far off the major hyperspace lanes the place is, is the planet host to a force vergence or Jedi monastery? Is that area of space relatively quiet? Or tumultuous? All this can affect how likely or frequently Jedi will visit that area and how many unembellished stories of Jedi exploits will reach the ears of the general populace.

So yeah, I do imagine people on Corellia or Sullust are going to be more familiar with the Jedi than someone on Kal’sebbol, or Nar Shaddah.

Hello SOLO GAMERS.
It's 2026 and I'm still trying to get a single character to get through my sorting gauntlet challenge in an OSR game. I have a pretty thick stack of papers, and only 1 character has gotten through it legitimately (To which he immediately died afterwards because he couldn't persuade NPCs to join him in clearing a goblin nest.)

Still going at it. Hopefully I get another character to break through in the next few days...

It is OSR. If you play it by the rules, you absolutely still have the same chance of instant death and high lethality.

You're a big Conan guy. But anyone that's actually played it substantially knows that you are still likely to get your skull caved in, even in a lesser fight.

I take a species, give it a set of characteristics which can be used to form a sort of baseline culture/identity, and then create different permutations of that culture based on where I drop it in the world.
Nothing wrong with taking traditional formulas and putting a little spin on them either. I'm taking some Scottish influences and mashing it up with some Chinese influences. Confucianism works surprisingly well with dwarves.

In a similar vein (and if setting permits), having distinctions based on nationality could allow for even more differences to exist within a single race, or even among several. Iron Kingdoms does this pretty well; conflict ensues more due to nationality or allegiances than due to race, though that does still exist. Also has beardless dwarves.

EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

Well, there are photographs from the early 20th century. It is a pretty disturbing phenomena. Without a working knowledge of written Hindi/Gujurati/any of the dialects of India for primary sources, getting a grasp on it can really on be done by the observations of British personnel. They characterize it as sort of a suicidal disregard for safety amongst the population, as a demonstration of bravery. If we didn't already get a Neo-Mughal book pounded out in short order, it would've been interesting to see something like this. You could compare it to the phenomenon of تَجَاهُل (tajāhul) (disregard) in the Arab world. Men will deliberately place themselves in positions that men from other cultures would regard as insanely perilous. Saddam's T-72's attacking coalition forces at the battle 73 Easting with their commander leading a flying column into the teeth of wire-guided anti-tank missiles and a group of Abrams comes to mind. Unlike in western cultures where similar acts are motivated by the potential for remaining safe, or to provide a solution to the dangerous problem, these sorts of things were done for personal glory-seeking. Might there be a Lemurian phenomena that's similar? Would be worth exploring in further writing.

Unless you were referencing the Juggernaut directly, its already in the game. The view I had of Lemuria initially was pretty anthetical to this kind of thing, however, I don't think it would be something widely used, or culturally encouraged, since the Cultivation mindset in the warrior caste requires you to pity that the weak cannot be strong opponents to you (which is completely different from taking pity *on* the weak, mind you) rather than outright hate them.
Degens would be free game, however, its obviously their fate not to amount to anything anyways.

Arguably the 4th ed nid codex is the best nid codex, same for marines, same for tau + imperial armour 3 taros.
3.5 guard was the most thematic too with regimental rules.
3.5 orks were the most thematic they will ever be, but a bit underpowered.
3.5 necrons didn't had all the egyptian crap just yet, but they needed a couple more troop profiles for variety.
Imperial armours updated lost and damned list was also great.

I've been trying to bit by bit work on the blight kings. Also got some dirty down moss to fiddle with. It's a neat little effect but I reckon it's gonna be a few more models before I really get it nailed. Until then just gonna keep chugging along!

The problem is they price this shit like collectors kits for gundam or whatever where people are paying prices of good looking one off dispaly models they're not expected to have more than one of. But the way they write the rules they want you paying fucking $15 a 4cm model that you need 40 of. They used to make and price this shit with the expectation that a teenager could reasonably get into warhammer. Now only rich kids and adults with more money than sense can afford it.

I have some questions and a premise for a thread.

Having divergences in the story would obviously be critical, like if Moss had actually killed Anton, for it to be fun, but other than just plain ole' rolling dice how would a game where an individual plays as Anton Chigurh, another plays as Lewellyn Moss, another plays as Carson/The Sheriff, etc etc work?
