To be fair, third world, Middle Eastern and Islamic culture and the religion itself IS actual sexual dominance and rape culture. You are especially allowed to be a sexist rapist woman hater in Islam if it means raping and or converting non Muslim women. Hence why, how come not enough porn games or "dark fantasy" that is Muslim based and Islamic themed? Almost half the shit you see in a hentai or doujin is normalized and permitted by the quran and prophet Muhammad.

It's more of a feeling. I know they are fine with it, they said sorta in terms of how hardcore they wanted to go was like... 4 to a 8 out of ten (10 is death and 1 is knocked out and they wake up on the street) but yeah I'm not particularly hardcore.

I think the issue would be if a DM did the entire arc all at once rather than do a small piece on occasion to mix characters' special moments with what's going on with the campaign.

>How does someone who is into history end up like that?
While what >>97333421 says about cultural marxism is correct, it still leaves the question of "Why do smart people switch over to it so readily?" The answer to that is basically hijacking a person's internal identity or moral system and re-framing it.

Every human has an internal idea of who they are, a mental fingerprint of what their concept of themself is. For example, "I am a person who never steals." When that concept of them is challenged ("Actually you technically stole this") that causes severe emotional damage to them unless they can cope out of it ("Well, okay, but that was an ACCIDENT, AND I returned it. That means I'm still not a person that steals *on purpose and *evilly). ALL of these identities are instilled to us when we are developing, usually between 8-20.

In the past, most people's Identities would be their religion, so they would say "My morality comes from God." In recent times however, thanks to a weakening of religious tradition in the west, their morals were generally inferred from their parents and from stories (TV shows), which basically has one recurring theme that runs over and over again: "Bullying is wrong, and it's right to harm bullies to protect victims." What happens at this point is that then using this frame work, they just reframed who was a "victim" to be things like minorities and women, and the bullies into white guys, and 90% of the work was done. That's why this shit spread so fast and why 2012-2016 was filled with otherwise normally rash and intelligent people suddenly going full woke. People just drew circles around the targets by playing fast-and-loose word games.

Essentially leftest themselves openly say this. They talk about "oppression" and reframed racism as "prejudice + POWER". But when you break down their words into their more childlike equivalents, you see it for what it really is.
>>
>>97328198
>>97340590
It's also basically what happened on X after Kirk. In their minds, Kirk was a bully because he was "powerful" ("He is a straight white man, an oppressor") person who was enacting "violence" ("words are violence. He's spreading hate speech, therefore he is being violent") on "the weak" (Minorities, such as the gays and blacks, and Women cause they are weaker than men). They saw the guy who shot him as the main characters showing up to beat up the bully and save the victim, because violence against bullies is encouraged.

To put it into context, imagine for a second you're watching Back to the Future, and Marty McFly sees Biff beating up on some nerd character and tells Biff to stop it. Marty then punches Biff really hard in the mouth when Biff says "no." But then all of a sudden, there's a somber mood swing as the music tone changes, and all of the people around them come and check in on Biff and give McFly really angry glances, like he did something wrong. It's not even a fake out scene where Biff starts chuckling at McFly when everyone is looking away. Biff is genuinely shown to be a sympathetic character who is shocked that McFly would dare do such a thing, despite the fact that Biff was clearly bullying someone just now. That would be a really surreal moment in the movie, right?

That's why the leftist acolytes got real shocked when they started to lose their jobs for supporting political violence. To them, they were standing up and cheering for McFly, and then everyone turned on them and harshly told them that McFly was actually the villain in this story. "I was supposed to feel sorry for Biff? But Biff was committing violence to a victim!"

Lotta words but i read them all and i agree with you. Unfortunately a lot more of them didn't suffer any consequences or even pushback verbally that they didn't immediately dismiss.

That's what people need to understand. They will not give up. That's why they relentlessly shit on D&D. They are on a jihad against these games as they once were, and that is why they do not relent in turning the hobby into a gay coffee shop simulator.

I have a bit of an inane question for the peanut gallery. Do you have a favorite thing that you'd never actually play/play as?

For example, I just realized that I really fucking love the Samedi/Cappadocian clan/bloodline of Vampire: The Masquerade.

But I don't think I'd ever consider playing one, and I'd likely opt to play a Malkavian instead under virtually all circumstances, or a Tremere. Samedi doesn't even register on the list of characters I'd like to play, even when I do have concepts I'd include if I were the ST/GM.

I like the roleplay focus of the IP in general, I think the lore and setting is very cool, I like the conspiracy stuff, I like occultism, I think the setting lets you be pretty shamelessly cool overall and it's fun for that. I don't actually *mind* leftist ideology, but it's the sort of aggressive envelope pushing that happens mostly over twitter or political discourse that I don't really like. Likewise, I don't mind settings that are moderately more left leaning like WoD. WoD itself is kind of based though, ecoterrorism is based, telling wagies to off themselves is based, etc.
Chronicles is just neato I suppose, it's cool. I appreciate how agnostic it is in regards to setting and plot.

Magi, sin-eaters, and werewolves would be relegated to books akin to Second Sight and Skinchangers.
I'm not much into Vampire, but Requiem seemed fine to me, though I could be persuaded to slot it into Immortals.
I would consolidate the Book of the Dead, Ghost Stories, and maybe Book of Spirits for a ghost game that could run the gamut from Ghost (the one with Patrick Swayze) to an Underworld-focused chronicle like Wraith: the Oblivion.
As for Changeling, I'd fuse my favorite parts of Lost and Dreaming.
Like most others here, I agree that Hunter: the Vigil is great. Maybe I'd add the Imbued as a conspiracy.
As for Demon, I'd drop the God-Machine. I'd mix Inferno with Demon: the Fallen.
I love both Mummy games and I'd be tempted to fuse them, but I'd have no idea how to do it well.
I'd probably keep Promethean: the Created as it is, only possibly tweaking it for better cross-over games.
I'd probably fuse Beast: the Primordial and Deviant: the Renegades into one "mix-and-match" monster that synergizes well with the other lines.

The one thing I did get from reading Bahari lore is that I feel like most non-vampire non-Bahari supernatural Lilith worshippers would consider the Bahari’s version of things a corrupted version of Lilith worship. The Kingdom of Krieslend
Religion: Apostolic
Culture: Crownlander
Ruling Dynasty: von Lohengrin
Demographics:
>7% Imperial
>13% Outremer*
>75% Guntharran
>5% various nonhumans
A brief background: the Holy Grail Empire, famed for its many knights and a strict code of chivalry, leaped at the chance to join the First Crusade. Why? The Knights of the White Stallion have a rite of passage not necessarily far off from the Hajj of the desert raiders in which they search for the Holy Grail. While the knights failed to find the artifact, they did manage to set up a foothold that only grew with succeeding crusades in the following centuries. Proselytization of the natives succeeded but only due to the presence of the Guntharran Gregorian Church which was more approachable for the Zaranites.

Tension has risen with the Guntharrans who are increasingly indifferent or even resentful towards their 'saviors' as the Zaranim are now a bunch of sweaty desert nomads and the non-humans safely deposited within their ghettos. Non-humans are often kept as slaves with the sole exception of the Gnomish Banking Clans which essentially run these ghettos as personal fiefdoms with debt peonage becoming an increasingly valid form of servitude. Gnomish peonage is a better lot than getting worked to death by humans after all... Davidians, as always, are blamed for most of the kingdom's problems. Imperials do view them poorly after all.

I fucked up with the cultures.
>Crownlander
>Imperial
Then again, Krieslanders do mostly descend from the Reichslands which were carved out from numerous Pagan tribes. This resulted in an extremely militaristic aristocracy that was on constant alert from random attacks, and it took decades to break the pagans to the yoke. So when the time came for a new generation of young knights to seize a new territory, these hardened nobles of the march were jumping up and down at the opportunity. For two reasons:
>1.) To get rid of excess young men who were causing trouble with native serfs and Imperial settlers. Chivalry is a high-born concept after all.
>2.) To gain favor with the Apostolic Church which was using the many sins of these violent knights to gain undue influence through confession.
That's why Kriesland is the way it is, that's why there's so much ethnic tension and bloodshed centuries after the Angels brought their light to Guntharra. Their old homeland, the Reichsland, is now home to the Grail Emperor who could not care less about what his dipshit relatives are up to this time. But Kriesland also reaps the benefits from having a strong martial class. Their knights are the best of the best, smashing lines with the lance.

Backed up by Yeoman warriors who aim to attain lesser titles, and a massive line of footsoldiers, the Knights of Kriesland will find the grail. And high-born women swoon over the tales of the dashing knight making them popular with the women of the holy land. The Gnomish Banking Guilds hate 'em, but they can't do anything.

>You can't present a place that likely contains major power and riches without immediate security, ala a locked door. Otherwise it's not believable, and reads like your pandering to the party.

>But you don't want this to become a hump to play, so you set the locked door up, but you anticipate your party will search and find a hidden key nearby, as locked doors are want to have.

>Your party then proceed to all roll a statistically improbably low result, but you don't want to waste your one 4 hour slot a fortnight to watching your table suddenly have to switch their brains on to figure out a simple problem of 'get through the locked door', so you just give it to them, to get them through to the actually fun bit inside.

even if you play 5E, read either Holmes Basic or B/X. D&D suddenly makes more sense.

>well uh, i try again!
>fail forward!
>take 10/20/whatever.

NONE of these matter. searching takes a turn, you search a 10-foot area, that's it. that's the abstraction. you either find the thing or you don't. but CRUCIALLY it takes a TURN. the game has TURNS the same way combat has rounds.

if you make a dungeon that relies on 'passing a check' to continue, that's just absolutely stupid (looking at you, Hoard of the Dragon Queen).

It's called railroading.
It's when the DM has decided what happens beforehand and pretends the player has agency apart from the tactical combat decisions, and also the DM isn't allowing his players to be creative enough to come up with other ways to get to the story beat.
In my old party, this type of shit would happen a lot. And I'd come up with a solution and my DM would shoot me down. Luckily my new group will actually make lists like follows:
>Is there a window we can climb into
>Can we wait for someone or some thing to come out/go in and ambush them
>Lets go hire a thief
>Lets go find a spell scroll to unlock
>Use stone shape on the wall
>Lets dig under the tower and break into it from underneath
>I set fire to the door
>The fighter chops down the door with an axe
>Heat metal to weaken the hinges so we can pull it out
>I knock on the door, pretending to deliver a message or package from a rival wizard. What package and message? Eeem, I'll put my immovable rod in and tell the wizard his rival says to stick it up his ass and then beg for mercy throughout the interaction.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online:

Rebellions in 40k usually happen on a single world, or within a very limited region, and are often isolated before they can spread.

In Star Wars, the rebels are far weaker than the Empire, but because hyperdrives are easy to obtain and relatively safe, they can carry out guerrilla tactics. By contrast, the Imperium in 40k doesn’t have a rebel problem as severe as the Galactic Empire did, because warp travel is terrible and can't really do it without a Navigator

so if the Imperium ever figures out a truly safe form of faster-than-light travel, it would face horrific rebel problems all across the galaxy.

I think, but can't confirm, that it was hinted at the DAOT having a way better form of FTL travel. Warp travel seems to be the Emperor jury rigging a bunch of left over crap to jump-start the Great Crusade, like how Titans are essentially repurposed Pesticide spray bottles.

I don't think so since part of the fall of humanity was the warp chaos created by slaanesh's imminent birth, which fucked up connections and space travel. At the very least it was still vulnerable to warp fuckery.
Not discounting the men of iron, of course.

I just remember really old lore suggesting it, back in the days when the Emperor was implied to be a disgusting mutant who crawled out of a DAOT lab.

...Why? I don't see the connection between the two.
>da emperor
99% of all humans in the imperium will never do any kind of FTL travel. Short of the FTL travel being zero cost teleportation, any kind of FTL would still be monopolized and controlled by the imperium, becauase they have all the money, resources and military might. Worship of the emperor wouldn't stop either, he would remain a god, he just wouldn't actually be doing anything.

Do the words "Horus Heresy" mean nothing to you?

Rebellion in the Imperium is already common, Life on many Imperial worlds is brutal, but because civilians lack access to FTL travel, they have nowhere to run. Most uprisings are forced to rely on the resources of a single world when Imperial reinforcements arrive, which makes them relatively easy to contain and crush.

If safe, reliable, and widely available FTL travel existed, rebels wouldn’t just be able to escape but be able to link up with resistance movements on other worlds. That turns isolated revolts into coordinated, multi-system rebellions.

I mean Imperium in 40k

New year new me edition

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

>Everything that you have said regarding it so far has affirmed my concerns that players will bitch and moan about "optional" mechanics at the expense of players who want to actually use these systems.

NTA, but maybe the answer is to cut down on these optional systems if they're causing friction? Red has a problem where it doesn't know if it wants to be a hard, crunch focused game or a loose narrative game and those two design principles often butt heads.

I don't think putting invention in a separate splat is necessary, but it is odd that the Tech has an ability that basically gives the Player carte blanche to break the game when Red is typically very anal about combat balance and all the Tech's other abilities are pretty balanced.

I am not confident you are doing this on purpose so I'm trying not to chew out your entrails, but the answer to the problem of 'people keep wanting to cut systems' being 'you should cut systems' is textbook begging the question and I'm about a minute away from actually fucking tweaking over it.

Without the ability to make new stuff, Tech is just a slow Fixer with a bunch of extra skill points and the ability to fix their armor for a fight and no social skills.

This has a really simple solution: Don't put Tech in core. Only introduce it alongside its complex subsystem.
