Also to be clear the Primordials, Yozis and Neverborn do come off as massive, petty cunts. It is just that they are cunts with a sense of grandeur, wonder and genuine passion (their love for music and dance) that through the magic of White Wolf writing, is somehow completely absent from the Exalted.

Like, if you ask me who’s COOLER between the fallen titans and the Twilight who cursed an entire kingdom because Low Key stole his ho, or Raksi, I’m going to vote for the Yozi 9 times out of 10. And on the 10th time, I will at least acknowledge the Ebon Dragon is more upfront about being a villain than Desus.

NTA I agree with you in regards to 3e but 1e is full of kino exalted characters that mog the Yozi imo.

>Such abomination don't form unless someone tries very hard to force something against very intrinsic natures. Or worse, takes the gifts of the Loups through violence.
Venus is busy calling her contacts, she said that when she is done "prying the wolf out of Boy Toy's brain" it will be Blue Fairy's turn, that she doesn't believe there was "much of an exchange of information between those three fools", and that she'd bet some Black Hand is involved.
An anon mentioned the NY abomination first here, I can guess why they wanted to stay anonymous.

The lupines are trespassing my land again
>>
>>97359079
If it's really the Black Hand we're dealing with - and not a random freak accident where one unfortunate lupine becomes the embodiment of everything he opposes - we're going to need an army.
Not one or three coteries dressed in SWAT gear. An army.

Even if the boogeymen of the Camarilla is involved they aren't the instigating element and they wouldn't be involved in creating something like this. I've met with exiles from western provinces where the Sabb made gains. They don't fuck around with science experiments or beat their chests, they go for the kill. Cut the head off local establishments and scatter the subordinates. If there is a threat it is beyond individuals, and you do best prepare.

Beyond words and intelligence, I can't offer much. I'm on the opposite side of the continent right now. Nor do I care to endanger mine.

>>97359109
Then the sky remains blue and the moon pale. To be fair though, depending on the Loups they might well have been there first.

>They don't fuck around with science experiments or beat their chests, they go for the kill.
I hope you're right, because something like an abomination on the loose makes for a very conspicuous diversion.

After playing both the original Shandalar and the 2016 update version I've come to the conclusion that magic was just more fun in 1995 when it was more loose and relaxed. The kinds of decks you go up against in the 2016 version are so much more ruthless about shutting down every play you make that the only way to compete is to be an even more obnoxious dickhead and make sure they never get a chance to do anything. Every victory was bitter and spiteful in a way that I never felt with the older simpler Magic cards.

>causal play is still best
That's probably the problem I had with Shandalar 2016. It felt very much designed around optimal play where every mistake is punished with immediate failure. I hated crafting a deck that was laser focused on discards and land destruction but it was the only strategy that actually worked for me.

It's infuriating that we'll never have a proper client. MTGO codebase is from the 90s and the UI looks absolutely terrible while Arena is on par with gacha slop mobile games.
Was it that hard to invest in a mtgo amd rework it to make it look more appealing to a newer audience? I don't see why wotc wanted to make a new client from scatch when one already had every card in it.
>>
>>97354269
Who are you quoting?
>>
Same applies to a lot of TCGs. This is why games like YuGiOh were best before a certain set, even outside of card balance. Your deck was the best with what you had, and you made it work. But it's ok because the people you are playing against are also (usually) playing the same way.

Now they print cards that arent just stronger, but clearly being made for a specific meta purpose.

Oh I see, you appear to have confused games with some other medium.

Encounters don't have themes. The players are encountering those creatures because those creatures happened to be there.

Zombies, ghosts, and mimics can move. They can travel to locations where creatures of the other types are present.

Anyone with access to a familiar can get a Greensting scorpion to scout for them. +8 size to stealth, +4 racial to both per/stealth, before your skill ranks and per/stealth being class skills for it. If you add the Figment archetype it can take the Skilled evolution twice by level 7 and get another +8 in both per/stealth (but must be within 100 ft).
At lv 7 with maxed ranks and before any magic items it can have +33 to stealth and +22 to perception. If you take Skill Focus with the feat it gains from losing the mindless trait you land att +25 perception. And if it gets discovered and killed it will reappear after some sleep.

If a player detects a trap, whether non-magical or magical, do they learn how to disable it and how it triggers as well? Or is it just they learn of its presence? How would they determine its affects and how to disable it?
>>
>>97358933
They know enough to make a Disable a Device check at least, although how much more than that kind of depends on the hazard. The relevant rules here are (as listed here https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2846):

Detecting a Hazard:
>"Every hazard has a trigger of some kind that sets its dangers in motion. For traps, this could be a mechanism like a trip wire or a pressure plate, while for an environmental hazard or haunt, the trigger may simply be proximity. When characters approach a hazard, they have a chance of finding the trigger area or mechanism before triggering the hazard. "

Later in that same block of text:
>"Anyone who succeeds [a secret Perception check against the hazard's Stealth DC] becomes aware of the hazard, and you can describe what they notice."

The first quote specifies that they're rolling to detect the trigger area or mechanism, and the second clarifies that a successful perception check makes them aware of the hazard, with the GM describing what the character actually notices in the world. Nowhere does it say that they learn what the hazard *is*, although it's often obvious (e.g. the mechanics of a hidden spike pit are pretty clear once you've noticed it), and when it's not I imagine a relevant Recall Knowledge would probably tell them more about it.

What's clear, however, is that they've definitely found it, and they can make a roll to disable it. The rules for disabling hazards are a little further down:

Disabling a Hazard:
>"A character must first detect a hazard (or have it pointed out to them) to try to deactivate it."

What were GW writers thinking of when they came up with the idea of hive cities? Are they walkable for most of the inhabitants or are people supposed to have cars, bikes, scooters, etc. to move around on? Most of the videogames I've played seem to show sections of the hive where you would walk around on foot or ride some form of public transit.

Healthy balance, yeah. Like every time, the inquisitor (Heinrix you are my brother, I love you) is right when it comes to chaos and daemons, mostly. You cannot fuck around with chaos worshippers and cults who already destroyed one world, or not exterminate genestealer cultists, that is just making logical choices and keeping safe. The inquisition does at least 75% of what it does for a good reason, when they're not at war with each other or trying to kill every single person who saw a daemon instead of conscripting them into inquisitorial warbands.
But the little things, like saying you don't see a point in mass bloodshed for faith, or saying that you want to understand xenotech, those are little things that do feel like they're realistic without trying to veer out of what 40k truly is, but still show that not everyone is a foaming mouth zealot. Or even the simplest ones like "Yes I know our people are enemies, but the REAL enemy is Chaos" when speaking to the Eldar which is just like, logial.

They were thinking of the hot new topic in architectural circles in the 1980's - the arcology, and what would happen if you stuck a bunch of stuffy brits into one. They then mixed it with dark dystopian environments like 1982's Blade Runner. They satirized it by making the Imperium's cities hives the dark end result of the idea. The satire was then lost when the Saudis started building them 30 years later and they were more horrifying than one could possibly have predicted.
>>
>>97359203
The reality is even worse than the dystopian concept, huh? Sounds about right for a british satire piece written in the 80/90s

>The reality is even worse than the dystopian concept
A lot of modernity is also reflecting back into 30k/40k, because what is being done today is way more intense than a bunch of 80's nerds once hypothesized. If you read closely, the Dark Mechanicum 'Silica Mutus' descriptions read eerily similar to current LLM training methods, for example. Modern technology is moving faster than 40k's 'mysterious supertech.'

Classic Supers game from the 80s, still has a lot of fans and various retro-clones. Uses a d100 with an universal resolution table to decide the degree of success, has random character generation and abstract rules for powers and combat.

It's all about the key squares. The key squares of a pawn where it's the only (relevant) pawn on the board are if it's on the enemy side of the board all six squares directly in front of the pawn, and if it's on its own half of the board it has only 3 such key squares - you skip the row in between.

What the hell is a key square? A key square means if the attacking king can occupy it, the pawn queens, if not it's a draw.

So here the pawn is on d7, the key squares will be c5, d5 and e5 - skip a rank due to it being on your own side of the board remember? So these concepts are kind of clunky at first and can take time to get to know but they're well worth it if you want to be good at such endings.

If white moves first: Kd2 Kc7 Kd3 Kd6 Kd4 - and the black king can never reach one of the key squares because the white key can gaurd them. Obviously if for example Ke6 instead white will just go Ke4, still stopping him from getting to the key square. The key squares are only different for a rook pawn, where the defending king only has to get to the last rank on the third file across c1/c8/f1/f8 for it to be a draw.

It's more interesting if the king has to go to the side. For example if the position is a white pawn on b4 and the white king is on c1, and the black king is on f8 the key squares become a5, b5 and c5 and the attacker must get to one. But if he goes Kc2 Ke7 Kc3 Kd6 Kc4 Kc6 he again can't get to a key square. But if he goes for the a5 square instead: Kc2 Ke7 Kb3 Kd6 Ka4 Kc5 Ka5 and he's made it and he queens.
>>
2/2
>>97357011
Also if you're the defending king always put your king in one of the two squares in front of his pawn when you can, when that's not possible, move it to the side to match his king's movement. You can do things different but when you've seconds on the clock you want simple rules. It's very painful to lose a clearly drawn k vs p ending.

Space marines in Necromunda isn't an issue, original Necromunda has rules for using any 40k units you want in it (though intended as opponents and not as players).

I hate that resources are random drops, yeah I get that its for balance and monster hunter did it like this as well but, you supposedly keep the entire monster after a hunt, even in the prologue fight it shows that you drag the entire corpse of the white lion to the new settlement after you win.

My head canon is that the drops you get are what's salvageable after you fucking wrecked it.

I'm not sure if you're supposed to have x2 of each Perfect Resource in your deck with GCE, but I do it anyways because I basically treat them as normal resources for the first 10 Lantern Years.
>>
>>97358364
No, you're only supposed to have 1x. The GCE instructions mention this, it includes the extra set in case you didn't already have the card pack.

Eh, I didn't see it when I read it the first time. I really think they just have too many systems repeated too many times across too many different products. Someone else is definitely going to do what I did and miss that if it's now in 1.6, the upgrade pack, and now in GCE repeating all this content.

Once, again: Wrong!

"Unscrupulous players may be tempted to use blast weapons to pick off leaders and heavy weapons in an unrealistic fashion. To prevent this the following rule applies. The owner of the target unit can move an incoming Blast marker onto a different part of the target unit providing that:
a) The Blast marker covers the same number of models (or more) in the same unit.
b) The new target is within the firer's range and line of sight.
pg.56
(The page about Blast Weapons)

Why must I be cursed to be the only one in these threads to ever actually read the rules?

At least the art these days is just "mediocre compared to the great works of the past" instead of offensively bad like in the dark times that started in the mid/late 2010s.
