2eAny non-shit summoning options yet? The actual summoner is not really my jam since I'd like variety in creatures. Also there's barely any feat support (eidolon gets Grab at lvl 12 while fighter gets combat grab at 2, wtf?)
2e, mate is starting up a campaign, and I'm a complete noob to this system, but I'm eyeing Oracle (specifically Flames mystery) and just sort of confused about my role, I think I'm "meant" to be a pseudo frontline hitting enemies / causing disruption with my flame aura thing, but I don't see how I don't just get press ganged in melee. Basically just asking for any tips or information that might help my thinking and understanding of the mechanics and character, I love the "tap into cursed power at personal cost" concept and the flames is just a sick representation of that.
>>97188694Most of the Incarnate spells are good. The new spell in Draconic Codex is probably the best thing we'll ever get (Summon Underlings or something). They're basically force barrages that you can move around and sustain since they automatically hit. Anything with a weakness to physical gets fucked by them since the damage doesn't combine. And if you can get a weakness on them, it adds up since you get 2 underlings per spell level. The main thing is it actually feels like summoning since you get to move them all individually and attack with one sustain action. Look into Necrologist too. It's not the best mechanically, but is pretty fun at higher levels once you have enough of the feats to customize it.
>>97188865Oracle is sort of halfway between Cloistered Cleric and a Divine Sorcerer. You're still a squishy caster with the Divine spell list, and you're going to play like one. You get more spells per level than a Cleric does, but you don't get Cleric's free Heal slots. You're a spontaneous caster with a repertoire of spells known instead of a prepared caster that knows the entire Divine spell list. You'll still be taking the same core spells you would as a Cleric, but what sets you apart from one are the spells your Oracle Mystery gives you and the Cursebound feats you have access to. As Flames, your early levels will be similar to a standard Cleric's but with the option to smack anything that decides to get too close to you with Ignition or Breathe Fire. You aren't a frontliner, you're a backliner with a backup plan. As you level up you'll get more blasting options to blow people up with when you aren't buffing or healing. Unfortunately Incendiary Aura just isn't very good. You'd be better off taking Domain Acumen at level 2 to get Fire Ray and using your focus points on it instead. Your later Flames focus spells are fine though. Cursebound feats are also really good, so you might want to pick up another option than your starting one early on. Just be careful when using them since they'll set you on fire.
>>97189039Personally, I would say Incendiary Aura is actually good IF your party is willing to scale up with you. Since ANY fire damage triggers the persistent damage, you can tack on plenty of additional damage and tackle early-game Regeneration foes much easier. If you are the only one tossing flames, you are SUBSTANTIALLY less of a threat. But even some like an Alchemist Fire or Ignition can help pump up the DPS. You also come with Fortell Harm, so you can always trigger it after a commitment.

>>97188384Conan seems decent, but it also seems like they put a lot of effort into molding the system to really fit Conan. A lot of the mor recent output seems really bad.
>>97187838I'm surprised New Vegas didn't got any official ttrpg book considering how much of wanking this game gets

>>97188931>I'm surprised that the game the owners of the IP are constantly trying to bury doesn't get any attention.
>>97188931There is a New Vegas campaign for it, though. It’s called Royal Flush. >>97188384I like Dune a lot. Also it’s a shame Dishonored only got the core book.
Besides Middle Earth, are there setting with a monotheistic God but has powerful deity like entities who may or not be worshiped?
>>97183250Yeah, mine. After I finished reading the Silmarillion I stole that idea for my world, having plenty of standard fantasy gods, & one secret God of gods. I'd describe it to my players as "gods are always depicted shrouded in light, know now that it isn't them that produce that light, it is Him standing behind & over the,, the true Lord of lords watching over the gods themselves that frames them in their purpose". Because I'm conceited I also gave him my own initials, it fits fine enough.
>>97188730Post your whole campaign primer.
>>97188331The cult of Sol Invictus had already done a lot of streamlining in Roman paganism by the time Christianity was adopted as state religion, and Sol Invictus was still seen as a relevant competitor for the Christian God until the fifth century. It feels like it is pretty natural for formalized religions to move towards monotheism.
>>97188749I don't really have one. Most of my world lives in my own mind or on multiple scattered documents on my computer. I do this because I'm stupid & retarded. Also I do all of this writing about cultures & religion, but I know it's more for me than it is my really dumb players. I only have one guy in the group who I actually talk about "lore" with. But because I know the writing is a self-indulgence most of the actual "campaign", if I bothered to write one out, would describe their region, which is based roughly on the kingdom of Soissons, dying Roman Empire in the south, migrating barbarian tribes, but the core kingdom they're within is an ex-empire breakaway that only just recently established itself. When my players form a coherent goal I'll decide more on how much I write for whichever side they help more.
>>97183858Probably because of the Christian values and all anyone really knows is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, if that. I doubt they're putting it on the 4th grade English reading list anymore - it's probably replaced by something written by a diverse author that speaks to a "modern audience."
Are there any mech games where the mechs are a sideshow to other vehicles? I like the idea of blowing up mechs with superior conventional vehicles but basically every mech setting ever made exists to justify the opposite of that happening.
>>97188996We're already halfway to doing this ourselves. You can control prosthetic arms with brain signals alone. It's probably one of the more well aged elements of the setting.
>>97189107And you know what's really stupid? There's been an effort to downplay what neurohelmets can do, there's a subset of fans and writers who want the neurohelmet to basically just be a portable MRI machine and that's it. The oldest lore had a bunch more described uses and feedback where it transmits information both in and out of the pilot's brain. There was even a derivative civilian version used in universities that beamed cliff notes and the direct text of citations into your head as they came up while you read scholastic literature.
>>97189130>there's a subset of fans and writers who want the neurohelmet to basically just be a portable MRI machine and that's itOh man I hate those types, you could do some real shit with that kind of Mind-Machine interface, but since that's too transhuman, they'd have neurohelmets be really expensive haptic feedback devices...
>>97189107Controlling stuff with neurohelmets is fineWhere battletech gets silly is all the restrictions it places on its tech to nerf every other vehicle and weapon. They think they sound scientific but they really just sound like a 5 year old shouting abut how "their mech can't be blown up cause it has the anti-everything forcefield and only mechs can have it and it has the anti-everything laser that penetrates lesser forcefields"
>>97189149I think they just come up with the rules first and bullshit the lore as they go along. I don't know what the creative process is like, but it would make sense.

>>97188250>>97188463To expand more on my suggestion, imagine if nobody on the planet had forbidden lore (horus heresy) and instead relied upon common lore (imperial creed) or scholastic lore (legend) and all the books got rewritten a few times and whoever was in charge of remembering everything to the letter got a few blows to the head in a fight spanned over thousands of years.
Intending on bringing in the Kabal of Crimson Woes from DH1e’s Purge the Unclean. Given how weak they are in that book and how they get no respect in the Expanse I imagine they’re kind of a joke. How can I make them “weak” without making them too comedic? So far I have their Archon wield two Venomblades but with no venom because he just puts his own blood in instead. Came up with it cos I saw someone’s megaedgy DEldar OC have a vampire theme and so I wanted to take the piss out of it.
>>97185928I did in DH 1st ed, twice my players did so, once was with a psyker, which ended up having them attack the psyker as he rolled a 9.Seocnd was when a new PC joined in, an Arbitrator, so I had them get the inter-departmental team (or something). It mostly ended up with them having access to talents and skills they would have never gotten normally.
>>97185928My DW party is practically glued to Tactical Spacing squad mode. The ability to share reactions is insanely useful for staying alive, especially if you have sneaky boys who can serve as reaction batteries for the rest of the team. The amount of work I have to do to get a Fate burn out of these guys is absurd.

>>97185567I like the living plant outfit idea. Does it drink small quantities of the wearer's blood for nourishment and go into hibernation when you put it in the closet? Different plants bloom at different times of the day or night, so they could do neat stuff with the timing like have an outfit that starts off as kind of casual in the morning and gradually grows fancier the longer you wear it until it finally blooms right around the time an evening party would be expected to start.

>>97142844The scouting phase was cool and unique, the game is worse without it. People who complained are the ones who complain about the game not having lists or not being like the older versions of the game. That people don't play the game and are unable to understand why the game is nice now.
If a man were to play Wrecka Krew what would be a good loadout and stuff to keep in mind with them?I definitely will play the Demolisha, Krusha, and Rokkiteer, but what else should I have? >>97188778My last interaction with Mythic was them contacting me about a third time I NEEDED to pay shipping ransom, or my second wave of DDungeon wouldn't leave China. They sent me a link to a new website, some barebones thing with nothing else but a UI on it. They had made an account for me already, and they set the password themselves. In the email I was instructed to change the password and to pay my ransom, I mean increased shipping fees. The entire time I did this, I felt dirty. Like I knew I wasn't going to actually ever see my half order. I did it anyways, because I had known it was finished from the several months of emails they sent me on its development. The product was done, they just got it locked up in some warehouse, waiting to ship. But they never did ship my stuff was the thing, and then a few months later the news broke that Mythic Games was no more.

>>97188306They really did need to let WMH just sit in it's mkIII state with backstock and push 5E material out instead. The RPG kickstarter did solid, after their RQ kickstarter failed they needed to realize that they were F'ing up their approach with minis. Partnering with Wizkids or Reaper would have been a better/more feasible move than all the nonsense they did. Wilson probably burnt those bridges in his years long attempt to sell the IP to any major player though.

>>97185689>Avatar has huge cultural impact both online and offline (if you need proof there are tons of avatar fans on /tv/)lol fucking no. Retard. A couple obsessed artists over the years isn't """cultural impact"""
>>97181741It worked as a pretty fucking fun video game on the 360.As a wargame in the style of 40k? Probably not. You'd never be able to balance it without being ridiculous. Hell it was ridiculous in the first film where the humans only lost because they were retarded. But as a skirmish game? More like your Mordheims or your Shatterpoints? It could work. Theres enough variance in tactics between the two broad factions (humans vs smurfs), things like burning the terrain vietnam style vs using it for traps and ambushes or calling for air strikes vs luring local predators into the battle. Small squad scale combat lets you really emphasize the differences in physicality and technology (Navi have high physical strength in close quarters. Humans have guns and tanks. But in exchange Humans also have to worry about oxygen supplies, ammo etc), and there's enough factions in the smurfs these days you could have sky smurfs, sea smurfs, fire smurfs, underground smurfs, all sorts of smurfs. The humans are a bit tricker, the game would need to come up with lore for why they're fighting. Something like competing corporate and government factions. But yeah, I could see an Avatar wargame working.
