>If Shahua was a successful medicine seller in the area, he'd probably know better than to say she doesn't look like she knows anything about pills, right?
Fair, I just considered that ignorance on the merchant's part. Sometimes I unerestimate how much information can travel in a world without the internet.
>Probably because I changed the name to people didn't get confused with Xun Wen.
I did notice that, I just forgot that I copied the character list from an early thread. The new name does stick out a bit more, but it will take a but to get used to it.
>In character misunderstandings are in good fun.
Good to know. It also opens up the chance for the realization later that she does not, in fact, sell medicine, and her sales mean a lot of people died.

>They don't fold to the first interaction, or the second, or the third, and if you aren't applying pressure they will draw and combo out over the top of whatever interaction you're running
Ah yes. Just put pre... Oh is that one of their several cards that negate any of your pressure?
>The Enchantress and Replenish win rates would go down
I doubt it. Replenish tends to run 3-4 swords and 3-4 mana leaks in addition to the four waves. It can delay quite well. Even a delay for one turn can win them the game. Replenish actually loses a lot to psychatog of all decks because tog runs 8-12 counterspells and 4 duress. The "fair aggro" decks are also outpaced already by goblins and stiflenought. Nought just beats through them and goblins can often get turn 4 wins with turn 2 siege gangs. Four swords in the deck on draw is a better chance to stop goblins from snowballing than goblins have to snow ball. All the deck then has to do is fish out the combo and win. It will turn out the same way against other "fair aggro" decks.

Enchantress likewise does well against goblins because it can just pop enchantments that say "you can't attack" into play and then leverage the swords and waves they put into the deck to delay until now they have the combo. Have to draw the naturalizes to stop them from stopping you from doing anything.

The only hard aggro match up here is elves since they can run naturalize and tranquil domain.

Those are already two of the strongest aggro decks in the format. If they can have a hard time against replenish and enchantress how do you think the weaker fair creature decks will do? They'll have a much harder time. If your solution is to put more pressure on their combos that can be gotten out as early as turn four and then suggest that the fair creature decks which often can't put as much pressure as goblins or elves do, you're out of your mind.
>>
>>97206246
You're losing to Swords because you aren't flooding the board with early attackers. 4 Swords in the deck they still are less likely to draw 1 single Swords than not. If they remove early creatures they're asking to get rolled by larger creatures, and if they save the Swords you continue to pressure them
You're losing to 4 mana Parallax enchantments and Replenish because you aren't running mana denial. Rishadan Port and Wasteland have 0 mentions in this thread but are the format defining cards for aggressive decks. These cards are insanely good and they only take land slots. Aggro decks win their matches against Replenish and Enchantress by playing out creatures followed by attacking the mana base to delay them from resolving critical spells.
Elves is not advantage over Goblins in the match up because of Tranquil Domain, which Goblins can and does run (so does literally every green deck). The difference is Tangle Wire, which denies mana and plays while allowing the Elves player more time to set up their board and get damage in. Some builds of Replenish try to play around this with Frantic Search.
Fair creature decks do quite well against Enchantress and Replenish because they put a clock on the other deck in order to prove the win or lock out, and are able to run mana disruption or removal to slow them down enough. This is what Terrageddon does after sideboarding, it takes out Oath and instead tries to flood the board with Treetop Villages, Meddling Mage, and elephant tokens while also disrupting mana.

If your game is about tactical combat, then sure.
Is your game about tactical combat? Because something tells me, you don't even have one in the first place and are desperate to push this frogshitting format back into catalog.
Because clearly, actual regulars are blind and have memory loss to not notice your low effort to saturate the board with this shitty format.

These rat ogre sculpts are really awesome. Heads and left arms are interchangeable with bodies.
Looks like they had a rather short shelf life (?) since GW introduced the multipart plastic kit quite soon after these. I'm in a minority but I don't dislike those 6th edition plastics either. I prefer them over newer plastics, as well as the bald 4th edition metal ones.

As a ST would you allow your changeling player (technically me) to pick some merit(s) from Mage the Ascension?

I’m considering Immunity at 4: A major threat (disease, hunger, supernatural evil gook) or a moderately rare threat (poisons, extreme heat or cold, raw magic Levin bolts, death spells.).

In this case it would be banality. Or the effects the Mists has on the changeling. I would also consider the two points version to grant an immunity to Bedlam.

Also Long-Lived/Unaging.

>>
>>97213500
>It would be Banality or the Mists
I think this is probably too much for the Merit. It would be like making a Mage completely immune to Paradox as a setting equivalent. No ST would allow that because when you're just playing a superhero with no downside and no story threats to prevent you from going something like

I've been on a space kick recently and want to run a sci-fi space campaign as the GM. What are the best systems for a flexible gaming experience without the autistic complexity of something like Shadowrun? I'm looking for a system that can run "magic" (Psionics, occultists, dark gods, etc) and high-tech weaponry and ships and stuff as well as madness mechanics mutations, cybernetics, horror elements, etc. Visiting weird planets, dealing with intergalactic politics, smuggling goods, assassinations, dealing with alien cultures, learning dangerous magic and technology, etc. I also want the players help make the setting so I'd prefer a flexible system that can handle a multitude of scenarios with cool aliens and stuff.

I've heard of Traveler, Starfinder, etc, I just wanna know what system(s) I should focus on learning about first. I'd rather not run it in a Star Wars DnD conversion or Feelings and Lasers. This crowd usually plays DnD or very simple games but are open to other games too. Again I've tried Shadowrun and I'd rather a system that isn't over-complicated and just has the hacking take up 90% of the screentime.

One fun thing they could have done would be to roll out some rules themed on the "Everdusk" season. Maybe some special battleplan or terrain rules, maybe some thematic spells, prayers or artefacts like those found in the Path to Glory books. They used to do this in 3e with the Gallet & Andtor content. It could have been a fun little thing that wouldn't necessarily require much effort on their part.

I don't care that Xandire was killed killed. Like, sure she was a named stormcaster that was in Underworlds and Warcry but to be truth: I didn't care about her and I don't think she needed more reprints of her unit.

There are so many cool underworlds bands that need reprint and new rules, like for exemple: Magore's Fiends, The Chosen Axes, Morgwaeth's Blade-coven, Godsworn Hunt, Grashrak's Despoilers, Hedkrakka's Madmob...

Most of the mass collateral damage will be from the wizard side. Their powers are naturally more destructive and it'll be much easier to paint them as the enemies of humanity. What can Telekinesis psychics do? Throw cars. Crush buildings. That's pretty damn strong but it can be passed off as terrorism with planted explosives from Conjuration wizards. Using telekinesis is less "showy" than an Elemental wizard spamming fireballs, lightning bolts, or firestorms to completely level a city in a casual battle. In comparison the psychics can easily be passed off as mutants or a natural evolution to humanity. Insert propaganda about how the psychics are human test subjects who are fighting for humanity against the wizard invaders who are siding with alien species like orcs, goblins, etc. while the wizardfags are burning down schools and hospitals.

My point is that the optics will always favor psychics while the wizardfags will always look like terrorists. The worst you get from Telekinesis psychics is crushing a building but all you need to do is mind control the media and reporters into saying the Conjuration wizards summoned C4 and blew up the building from the inside out. If we compare fuck-ups, for every 4 or 5 fuck-ups the psychics have with mass collateral damage, there'll be basically 10000+ fuck-ups from the wizard side who are walking disasters and PR nightmares. They're totally fucked and it'll be child's play to manipulate this information. Basic statistics and common sense will prove psychics are less destructive to human society and infrastructure.

WMDs are more likely to be used by psychics because the wizards have no real way to use their IQ to utilize them, and the psychics will be controlling most governments with the mind control and precognition combo. So wizardfags nuking entire countries would just hasten their own downfall even assuming they could build it (they can't, as they'll still be retards). There's also no need for psychics to be gathered in a single location unlike wizardfags so what target is there to nuke? Washington DC? The capitol of France? By the way, I didn't even mention this, but the language barrier is a real issue and PsyCHADs can effortlessly learn languages to unify themselves while the Divination wizards have no real way to easily transcend the language barrier. Hahaha, it keeps getting worse and worse for the wizardfags.

Either way, the psychics would prefer precision so it's unnecessary to use WMDs. The only case I can see the psychics using WMDs would be nuking a nation-state that the wizardfags would have to conquer and take over (i.e. the pajeet wizards taking over and 'liberating' india in my earlier example), and the rest of the world would worship the psychics for taking out the jeets if they did. But in reality they'll use strike squads and human fodder to assault and drone strike the wizardfags to death while a battle or probability psychic with a coffee in one hand casually snipes the wizardfag. They're fucked.

>couldnt you also make something to prevent a psychic from brainwashing you
Brainwashing is stated to be difficult on wizards, so it'd only be done after the wizards get captured, in which case any item could be removed. But no, the CYOA as written says conjurationfags can make 'weapons, tools, and everyday household items.' Nothing written here indicates supernatural items. They can summon lemon cleaner, bleach, rifles, rockets, grenades. That's it. With what intelligence will they make psychic resistant gear when they get no INT increases? lol gg

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Not huge on the spells to be honest, I don't like partial casting (or indeed, a general proliferation of caster classes). Laying on hands seems like a wonky af ability for Bilbo too.

Most of the other stuff looks okay but I'm not sure I'd prefer it over the existing Halfling personally.
>>
>>97212767
I would rule it as >>97212834 says or as adult male workers. Generally speaking when the DMG does stuff like calculate taxes based on only some of the peasants it's really just because Gygax wanted to keep players from getting too much money for some reason. Training costs, upkeep, sages costing a small nation to consult, all unnecessary except that Gygax wants to bleed the PCs. I assume this is based on some experience from his home game, but I never had that particular problem, so, shrug.

That said, I may be unduly influenced by the Wilderlands about the peasants, where Bledsaw is consistent that all population figures are productive male workers and they represent some fixed percentage of the actual population (20% IIRC, but I'd have to check).

>Eldar aren't post-scarcity anymore, actually.
Technically they still are, especially the Commorites, but the Exodites actively reject it and Craftworlders practically don't have the means to reproduce their post-scarcity society, without resorting to the same shit Commorites do (which they don't want to do morally/ethically), due to the fact how post-Slaanesh the natural way to procreate for eldar is severely restricted due to the inherent dangers involved, and they are already an extremely slowly reproducing species to begin with, so they lack manpower to actually expand their craftworlds.

I've roleplayed a Dark Iron "anti-Dwarf" in a World of Warcraft private server who had cleanly trimmed stubble, spoke eloquent Common and drank gunpowder tea instead of alcohol.

Impose a height limit

Why do dwarves use axes? Hammers I can get that's a derivative of forging, but why use woodcuts tools underground? Are they truly the best weapons to use in the close confines of a mine?

>wizard invests fortune in spell research
>doesn’t write an article about it
>doesn’t allow peer review, never submits to journal
>nothing is ever published

And don’t get started on how few alumni of the magic academy ever come back to teach instead of going private.

Chinese Turks and Indians for me.
Usually with something totally unrelated with the research topic.

>magic academy
Institutionalizing magic is gayer than a 6 hour musical exploring the unconventional, out of time, romance between Lord Byron and Freddy Mercury in Hogwarts.

I wonder if you think you are?
Pitch an idea, cunt.

Try... what was it called....it was Iron Crown based off Rolemaster but with biotech, cybertech, and the like...can't fucking remember. That would be a place to start for exploring the idea.

Though, I would go Ars Magica. Bonisagus magi always publish, even if they are no good at it. Even have rules for how publishing benefits them.

Look into it.

>wizard invests fortune in spell research
A wizard in what game, and is it a PC or NPC?
How does the investment of said fortune directly impact playing the game?
What kinds of spells is the wizard researching, and how does this research affect how the game is played?
How does the game handle the creation of new spells and innovations on existing spells?

>doesn’t write an article about it
Why would this matter to how players play the game, and to what degree does it matter?

>doesn’t allow peer review, never submits to journal

Not necessarily but there probably be some fag undertones in almost any university setting.
Dragon magazine had some cool optional rules for D&D 1e that let Magic-users start academies and schools for training apprentices.

Always wanted to run such a game.

As an aside, your post made me laugh loud enough for my neighbors to notice. Well played.
