>>97358634I would literally never vote for a Yozi. I see what demons are like and I like my world being better for people since I am a person and not a crab
>>97357334The original sales pitch was that Exalted is WoD's prehistory. Doom and gloom is a part of the package. Sure, the WoD connection was quickly abandoned, but it was still originally there, and Creation was originally presented as a doomed setting.>>97357488I'll give you demons, Fate is debatable, Autochthon is very debatable, but I don't think distant, uncaring gods being deconstruction is even debatable, it's just wrong.
>>97360062Gods are active and care (often negatively) a lot in myth. Most myth heavily involved the gods of that locale
>>97360111A lot of myth do, sure. A lot of the fantasy books listed as inspirations for Exalted don't have thta, though. Distant, uncaring gods weren't a new thing when Exalted did them. Another matter is, of course, that only some of the gods in Exalted are distant and uncaring, while others are very much present and meddling in mortal affairs. In other words, calling gods in Exalted being distant and uncaring an example of deconstruction is wrong in at least two different ways: gods as a whole aren't really distant and uncaring, and if they were, it'd just be playing some of Exalted's inspirations straight rather than an attempt at deconstructing anything.

Necromancy Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long. Thread dedicated to Sci-Fi based discussion. 40k need not apply. [\spoiler]How goes your sci-fi setting, anon? I am currently running a Traveller game in a homebrew setting, and am getting lost in the sauce of stellar physics.
>>97353818>1. FTL travel is only possible with a real sentient person controlling the ship. Don't try brain in a jar, it backfires. How does that work in setting? Fluff-wise I mean? Just interested rather than going to give you shit about it.
>>97358491It only uses d20 for attack rolls, everything else is 2d6. From what I remember (it's been awhile) it could easily be shoved into something like traveller relatively easily. But, traveller (post mongoose) doesn't have the kind of complicated space ship combat you're talking about either. You haven't had to worry about vectors and shit in a sci-fi game since probably the eighties.
>>97358704Admittedly skills are 2d6 but I more meant it's class-and-level, D&D derived mechanics. I really prefer my systems skill-based and with a curve.24XX has a game called Super Bandit which is kind of close to what I'm after, so I'm going to start hacking at that (as well as SWN) and see what I come up with. Just in case future anons see this thread in an archive.
>>97359180I will say, the class and level stuff in SWN isn't as... Hard coded, as some other class and level games? You do gain HP as you level, but you never get to really crazy levels, and the classes are fairly broad. But I understand, I much prefer a classless skill based system for sci-fi, leveling seems weird in non-fantasy system for some reason.
>>97354291Someone already mentioned SWN, so I'll point out that Solo for Cepheus Engine has a fast and abstract ship combat system too.

>>97359701>you have to use mask, gloves, watch for the resin to not get stuck, to not drop resin anywhere, to clean the VATNo, no, no and noresin is also import into slicer and click print, the failures do to improper supports are just as prevalent, with resin it's as simple as using a good slicer like lychee to auto support, with fdm you often have to redesign the file to prevent failures.I use both, both have strengths and weaknesses, the problems with resin usually occur with catastrophic failures, being too cheap and using an FEP sheet too long, having it break and then dealing with a mess as you try to drain it back into the bottle with a hole in it.vat cleaning? a joke, if you have a resin failure you remove the vat, you gently press underneath with your finger to lift an edge and then remove the bit of solid resin.gloves are unnecessary, mask is being a paranoid bitch, even the MSDS states that the only long term risks of resin are to aquatic life if you dispose of liquid resin improperly, but why would you dump out liquid resin? that's your desired material, the only resin you should be disposing of is failures that can't be used and cast off supports, but even failures often get repurposed into things like objective markers, terrain scraps and sources of spare weapon bits, etc...with FDM a failure an result in burning your fucking house down, you can walk away from a resin print, you can't walk away from an FDM, at least not without taking a risk.that's not to say you should print in FDM, it's an incredible tool and I use it for far more than just hobbying, FDM can and does produce useful objects for everyday life and even here on the farm I save thousands of dollars making incidental parts for the tractor and other heavy equipment that the dealer would charge me absurd amounts for.

Have we done anything with John Browning yet? I've been discussing gun designs with a friend, and the subject of Browning came up with him getting started in this exact period. Of course, most of his more famous designs, the 1911, Hi-Power, .50 M2, etc. are from later, but he was still designing and making several firearms before the turn of the century. And we've nudged the development period of certain designs before, with the Maxim I believe.I'm just divided on whether to keep him pretty normal with a blank cheque from the government post-Paraguay, or work in something Hyperborean. He'd basically be a saint up there with everything he's made/going to make. Alternately, I thought about somebody finding a 1911 or something on the battlefields of Paraguay and it makes its way into his hands (2000 Psychic Wars!)
