After playing both the original Shandalar and the 2016 update version I've come to the conclusion that magic was just more fun in 1995 when it was more loose and relaxed. The kinds of decks you go up against in the 2016 version are so much more ruthless about shutting down every play you make that the only way to compete is to be an even more obnoxious dickhead and make sure they never get a chance to do anything. Every victory was bitter and spiteful in a way that I never felt with the older simpler Magic cards.
>>97356397I liked old casual yugioh because it was grindy and full of back and forth. I don't know about the meta at the time cause I never cared about it, but nowadays the game feels very one sided and boring. Cube is the only enjoyable way to play nowadays for me
>>97374781That sounds like the problem isn't modern, but the game developers.
>>97374982I mean same shit right? nostalgia for the casual game with your friends>>97375037nta but it's a bit of both. yes the devs could build all the bots with more casual, fun, themey decks. but the whole game it exists inside of being faster and less forgiving sure doesn't help.
>>97354218I wish there was a version of MtG without words; just animated pictures that did things based on what its image looks like and eventually you figure it out.
>>97375179>I mean same shit right? nostalgia for the casual game with your friendsI don't know, I don't think I would hate a format that forced the game to be slower with modern cards either, so I don't think it's pure nostalgia, I just prefer slower games
He is basically the antichrist.
>>97374483>you wouldn't call Caesar a godHe was literally deified and was the subject of cultic worship for centuries as part of the imperial cult. He was never considered a "deus", but a "divus". That nuance is mostly lost on us now, but it is essentually god vs. deity, with Jupiter and Mars being gods, and Caesar and Augustus being deities.
>>97352456>No, the Emperor was one of Jesus's disciplesOne of the Twelve Disciples or just someone who got his feet washed by the boss while he told off the Pharisees for being assholes? It changes a lot of things if Emps was Peter or Mark or John.
>>97365186Just the Catholics. The other 29,999 of us don't get up to that bullshit. Maybe 29,998 i think the Saints are still A Thing with Lutherans.
>>97368685Vague prophecies can have plenty of sequences of events inside them. You might as well say that the Dragon is China, the Beast is Trump and the fourty-two months are the months between trump's inauguration and the end of the primaries in 2028.
>>97368685>>97368695>>97368712Well yeah, Revelations is a veiled explanation for how Secular tyranny was being laid on the Christians by the Pre-Christian Romans. With a side of oncoming theological appropriation, in the Anti-Christ. Makes sense that it also maps to a ficticious evil empire doing the same thing.
Are there any tabletop RPGs similar in style to the classic video game Baroque?
>>97367769Better in some ways, worse in others. The remake is easier on the player in a lot of ways (lots of QoL improvements, easier controls/perspective), but they also threw in some tougher challenges towards the end while also giving the player a lot more bullshit to do if they're mad enough to try and 100% the game. The remake actually gets a bit cringey at times thanks to its voice acting and how dated its art style and GFX has become, but about 20% of the designs are an improvement over their originals.
>>97364910We need a No Country For Old Men game thread
>>97367976It's all well and good to talk about QOL improvements and controls, but if I wanted to play a dungeon-exploration game based on the merit of its gameplay I wouldn't be playing Baroque in the first place. The remake absolutely butchers the aesthetic and atmosphere of the Saturn game. While those may only constitute the 'some ways' you speak of in which the original is superior, they are factors of such significance as to make the gameplay improvements irrelevant by comparison.
>>97371824iirc the remake is also kinda based on the manga too instead of the original scenario that they drafted up for the original game so elements contradict each other. I know the anon here claims that it's the point but the original Saturn release is pretty consistent in it's story.
>>97364864Troika maybe
>referee makes big 3D dungeon model>players therefore already know the entire layout>completely destroys the fun of exploring and mapping a dungeon
>>97374057Your downside is my upside. Have fun playing a different game than mine.
>>97367918Everybody point at this poorfag and laughs
>>97367918There's different tiers of costDF is the highest probablyMaking your own is the lowestI am quite happy the cost of my Archon Studio stuffAnd painting is fun
>>97375212How many hours would it take to build a setup similar to OPs pic though? You'd have to be pretty dedicated and really take an enjoyment in creating scenery. Its modular but you'd still constantly have to build additions to it if you actually run full on TTRPG campaigns with this level of dungeon building. My only real experience with this kind of stuff is spending a few afternoons making really terrible looking ruins out of cardboard so we could play war hammer.
>>97375291The setting up of OP's terrain would probably take 1-2hThere are no slots or whatever just magnets so it's easy to assembleDF is usually sold painted so there is no time needed for thatArchon Studio also started selling pre painted terrain, but I never used itThe painting time really depends on the terrainSome squares take 30sSome take an hourIt takes a bit longer to assembleI would guess twice as long as DF stuff?

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!Last thread: >>97165346Resources for Newfags: https://sites.google.com/view/wbgeneral/Worldbuilding links: https://pastebin.com/JNnj79S5 (embed) (embed)https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/Eo+fK41FKVR7xDpbNO0a0N4k0YYxrmyrhX3VxnM14Ew/Fantasy map generator: https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator/wbi/: https://discord.gg/6ZjEc7dy4TWorldbuilding Hub: https://discord.com/invite/wGjxK3YThe Writer's Forge: https://discord.com/invite/CUxHxWqTira: https://discord.com/invite/f52W6KgComment too long. >>97375080>>97375131The question isn't whether it's politically feasible, it's whether it works at improving the genetic health of the species. And besides, if the Nazis hadn't ruined its reputation, I'm sure the Bible Belt's objections would be overruled.
>>97375232Thanks. The setting has been my primary creative outlet for a quite while now. Atm my primary goal is to get the infographics depicting the armed forces and weapons of the primary factions done, which I will hopefully manage to do within this year.
Do eugenics even make sense without race theory, 18th century taxomy, 19th century scientific racism, gene theory and that sort of stuff?

Previous thread: >>97295718GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?

>>97370622I don't think SJG deserves money but if you don't think their actions are cringe then I guess ask yourself if avoiding having to read the word gypsy is worth 40 bucks or whatever it is they're charging. Even disregarding my 'bias' against them and moves like this I don't think I would think it worth it, especially if I already owned a basic set.
>>97366018I have often considered collecting all my notes, and houserules, and publishing them. Several anons have even asked for it. I've posted links to a few of the spreadsheets I've made here before. Like the big table of generic TL9 guns. With all the stuff I've written for my cyberpunk game I might have enough for a Monster Hunters, or After the End sized pdf with just that. Might clean that up, and post it. Maybe make a blog. That's what gurps people do right, make blogs?
just seen pic rel.lolhow is this supposed to count as a good revised version? Is this really the best layout design they can come up with in 2026?
>>97374698>somehow made it look worseI prefer outdated thanks. That's just vomit. This confirms my Kromm was never a good editor theory and just piggybacked off of goated authors.
Is it possible?I like scifi as a genre because all the new tech that show us, but in terms of aesthetics, always looks like shit.Do you know any scifi RPG with good aesthetics? Even if it's just concepts, draws or artworks.PD: If someone is going to say 40k, I admit it has cool things, but I don't find it pleasant.
>>97364521Yeah it does actually, not him but the armor has a great aesthetic and everything else is at least instantly recognizable. As to whether it would be good for tabletop, I think no

>>97373970whats the reason for mages not wearing armor in warhammer again?
>>97374926The more naked you are the greater the ability to channel magic. Source being I made this the fuck up
>>97374926Armor interferes with the flow of the winds of magic. You suffer a malus to casting spells and channeling spells in WFRP while wearing armor, based on the most protective armor. However, not for all spheres of magic. You can cast spells of the lore of beasts while wearing leather armor without a malus. And spells of the lore of metal while wearing anything metal. It's a pretty hefty malus. If your character is really good at spellcasting, he may start to just take it and wear armor regardless (and elves are really good mages). However, it shouldn't really be worth it. Unless you are a wizard ascribing to the aforementioned lores.Unfunny fun fact: your wizard is supposed to dress in a way that fits his chosen lore of magic. There is no mechanic for that, it's more flavor. But in general, what your character wears can help or hinder the flow of the winds.High Elves can eventually learn all winds of magic, so they may end up looking just wizard-like.This post will be ignored, but that anon will reply to the shitpost

Oh, ok, I remember those. I think I may have even bought the Genestealer one lmao. I definitely bought the GSC Acolytes one. But as the other anon says they were never really "giving terrain away," they were just trying to make attractive package deals.I'm still baffled by the "trench" though. The Genestealers came with a munitorum container sprue. The GSC came with Sector Fronteris stuff. The grate and rubble was the Sector Sanctoris set. But I can't find a "trench" of any kind lol.
I would love that elevated grate for my Necromunda table (but not the churchy rubble as much). I wonder if this has ever shown up in a MTO yet.
