Why are goblins behind orcs and centaurs in agility, on par with an ogre or slime? At least make them all work out to similar amounts of dice.
Orc, 18d total
Goblin, 13d
Centaur, 17d
Ogre, 19d
Slime, 12d
Armour, 13d
You've got three races that are decent and three that kind of suck.

slimes get the worst of it
even their ability buff for ahving a slave equiped is only 2 dice

given how short goblins are i can see the low agility
they cant navigate a battle so well
but i hardly see ow riding around someone on their hands and knees would help that so what do i know about logic

give the gobs decent agility
maybe say slimes can eqip all the slaves they want or something

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?
>>
>>97215703
I've never run or been invited to a game with a 1st party GURPS setting, although Banestorm looks fine for a vaguely historical-inspired fantasy.
>>
>>97215703
>Thread question: How often do you use an official GURPS setting? Which are your favorites?
I've tried Banestorm and Transhuman Space. Banestorm was fine as a setting, but they hated the default magic system. THS was just overwhelming in terms of how much shit they had to learn.
Hoping to try The Madness Dossier in the future.

Requesting a cute big headed robot mascot for a korean cyberpunk theme park.He has both a cute mode for interacting with the kids, and a 'combat mode' where guns pop out of his arms and head to deal with when cyberpsychos try attacking guests. He's a giant big headed Korean noble with a Gat hat, and a slightly creepy smile.
Inspired by mentions in the original cyberpunk 2020 lore that theme park employees had combat cyberware to protect guests from cyberpsychos.

It's heavily inspired by the ARS suit from vanquish and uses pretty much every magic sphere except for spirit. The armor itself is inspired by the armor of an arthurian knight who stepped through time the day he was awakened, and the sword is influenced by swordsmanship instructor, a samurai he met while falling through dimensions. The scanner is his own invention and his primary tool for interacting with his magical paradigm.

And so on and forth.
But of course those never, ever happens, for everyone who plays already read the rules, right?

I dare you to explain to anyone DnD combat mechanics if they never played the edition you are explaining, in a way they understand it BEYOND "roll d20 and wait for the GM to tell you what happened".
And I mean it - I fucking dare you to do it. You've got 2k letters to pull it off

You can also use anything that's a Reaction when it's not your turn when its requirements are met, once per turn."

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,
Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics...

Here's some you didn't mention I found OK (disregarding more blatant slop, others' recs I haven't personally verified, and non-isekai; still, slop warning implied):
>The Ideal Sponger Life (guy gets title related, but gets increasingly embroiled in politics as prince-consort)
>Karate Survivor in Another World (palate cleanser after bullshit OP protags, but goes the other way into "this is why we can't have nice things" misery porn territory, Berserk-lite vibe)
>No Game No Life ("OK, so here's a pair of kids who beat God of Games in chess. In the prologue. Now that everyone sensitive to bullshit OP protags got filtered, let's enjoy watching people cheat in increasingly bullshit ways")

Also some time-traveler/timeline stuff, these are not slop:
>Jin (modern neurosurgeon in early Meiji Japan)
>Zipang (what if Final Destination actually did something with consequences? modern destroyer+crew in WW2)
Both of the above are complete mangas, but Zipang is not fully translated to English (there's a full French version floating around)
>All You Need is Kill (short; wartime Groundhog Day taken to its logical conclusion)
>Qualia the Purple (big one-shot; this one is hard to describe without spoiling, but great for the stated subject)

If anything can't be found, check for manga versions, I don't know if all have LN.

>That being said, I find kinda funny that we take isekai as a "loving" fantasy when in Shield Hero above we have a fine example of "yeah, I'll love the slave I bought and groomed since she was a child!" like.. thrice?

Shield Hero is actually one of the early "deconstructions" of the genre. In most, isekai slavery tends to be more like "why can't getting a wife/girlfriend be more like getting a cat or dog?" with slave traders acting more as really creepy pet store managers trying to pair you with the perfect pet.
>>
>>97215689
That... doesn't help it much, does it?

Honestly at this point it might even worse
>>
>>97215689
To be fair, that was mainly because the web novel took place entirely from the shield hero’s pov, which was admittedly extremely vindictive, petty, self-pitying and outright delusional. So the wholesome heckin slave lord narrative wasn’t there initially, since we got to see the shield hero’s rather ruthless and practical viewpoint behind all his seemingly benevolent actions.

It also makes the whole “slave grows up into a hot young adult in a couple weeks” thing far less of a problem by showing he genuinely didn’t notice a difference at first due to obsessing over his own problems and not registering his slave as a person for a while. In fact, all the people saying how beautiful his raccoon girl slave was and how he was a lucky man just made him think the world was full of pedophiles trying to hook him up with a ten year old.

Here's the secret to chess. The previous move is the biggest clue to find the best move. Chess positions don't change that much move to move. Focus on the changes the last move made, which new squares are now under attack and which squares are no longer attacked. Remembering and keeping track of what has already happened, will give you foresight into the future.

Anyone planning to play any Christmas Specials? One-shots or variations on your regular game? Our group often has a Christmas special of some kind, either some unique silly monsters, or the current party portalled to the North Pole, or some villain stole all their magic items for presents, that kind of thing. What does your group do for the holidays?
>>
>>97215516
I have only taken part in one christmas themed game and it was not a good game at all. It seems like it was roughly ripped off from some podcast christmas game the gm sent everyone ahead of time, ended up being a railroad with obviously no mechanical inputs based on dice at the end, didn't really feel like a game. A bit of silly fun being joke animal characters and everyone played along to not hurt his feelings but it was not a thing I would have done if I could have avoided it and holyshit did it take too long.

Seems like there were quite a number of them, and I'm interested in them mainly from a flavor perspective, as it seems to be the consensus that 3e was the sweet spot of coherency before it became a bit too self-serious for its own good.

The villainess, Regina, was low in the Cult's hierarchy, so she had yet to understand that she joined an organization that was way more than the Illuminati with the serial numbers filed off. As for the serpentfolk... well, they fucking hate humanity more than everything (because ancient humans drove them to the brink of extinction and replaced serpentfolk as the top dog of Earth before Atlantis was even a thing). The Cult had sent Regina and her henchmen to guard the lost underground serpentfolk city that was discovered relatively near her area of operation (Oregon) and catalogue any artifact inside. She didn't realize that half her staff had been killed and replaced by serpentfolk infiltrators in the span of three days, including her head scientist (the sorceror). So, the scaly bastards had everything set up to recover all their valuable artifacts, murder her, and disappear back into the shadows to plot mankind's downfall as they usually do, with said mankind remaining none the wiser. Obviously, they only managed to accomplish the second objective.

For me it's polygyny and default female bisexuality. In most settings this is trivially justifiable by a huge portion of young men getting themselves killed adventuring, soldiering, by marauding monsters, etc.

>Reactivating a space hulk and bapping a loyalist ship with a Tau ship's railgun
>The part where they infiltrate the space port using an agent and sow confusion by declaring the governor a traitor
>The guns of freedom getting a long overdue (you)
>The dude who was hypnoconditioned into a deep cover loyalist and manchurian candidated back with a song from his homeworld
