Honestly, it kind of failed as a lore dump episode, as the werewolf stuff was just dry recital of stuff written in a book with D offering occasional comments, interspersed with a much more interesting story about a Stolen Moon in which the actual Garou was of tertiary significance. No one came away from that episode excited about the Garou, they came away from that episode excited about the Stolen Moons.
>>
>>97235517
I feel like the Stolen Moon plot will come back, if only because it seemingly comes out of nowhere.
>>

>drunk dudebro poets.
Anon, that would make most Toreador obsessed.
>>
>>97235478
>but I also think a werewolf pack is very much not a 2nd arc hunt without significant powerups to the cast.

That's why even D is waiting for the coalition boys, he says as much in the episode. They're not going to be running 1v1s with the werewolves, they're going to be relying on a small army of backup hunters, not to mention I imagine at least some of the Arcanum cast is going to be helping. Depending on how many people get sent, we're talking having the werewolves outnumbered 5 to 1. That's actually favored if the hunters have silver. honestly, they kinda undersold how quickly you can drop a werewolf with a silver bullet unless they have one of the very specific gifts that lets them soak it outside of breed form.

Also, and I really don't wanna have to rewatch that episode but I'm pretty sure that the Nails were just ambivalent towards local supernaturals (because they're hypocrites), rather than explicitly in league with them. They certainly didn't do much to save the green-clawed one. Also is Matilda actually popular or is it just horny from furries and musclegirl fetishists? Because we don't really know her the way we know Kevin, Guy, etc. And god, don't get me started on M*ge. I'm hoping that NWG would be enough to keep it out of HtP, as a major force at least.

>>97235496
What are you talking about? 1.1 is 45 minutes speculating about local legends. 1.2 is a little over 30 with limited Tremere lore. 3.1 is mostly character work and setting up the kevin B plot with a bit of basic info about ghouls, 3.2 is character work and a prophecy, 3.3 is a character intro, 3.4 and .5 is more B plot, and 3.6 was a shitpost with some character work.

It does play well but it's also impossibly inscrutable to someone approaching it for the first time. The new player experience is horrid for people who don't understand TCGs at a functional level from the company, and looking online gets you faced with decades worth of dense stuff that it feels like I'm looking at an alien planet

>>97234518
Everyone is getting a piece of the pie asap while the going is good before the house of cards gets collapsing because yeah it shows from that bad video how little effort went in

>>97234723
Factually dumb. Prepurge you could definitely say it was sloppy, overburdened, incoherent, etc, but it was impossibly dense to be called boring considering how much it covered. Skill issue if you couldn't find a story you enjoyed whether it was scifi, fantasy, political, romance, action, etc

>>97234711
Is this just about the distribution of the foils or did something else happen. The game pumps out generic shit every set as the majority of the cards and is still being gobbled up

Haha who would ever do such a thing, yeah, right, totally. I hope I don't get any rare Purity / Neige / Riri cards.
>if you came from the /a/ thread where it was announced im the anon who was shilling wixoss the entire time
Only saw it in the PriOrche thread and can't remember much shilling there (but maybe I'm just bad at remembering); were you in buyfag at the time or was it elsewhere too?
>You could stop by your local game store
I am planning to when I get the chance, maybe to pick up something else too. It's a nice place. Maybe I'll grab some 30MM while I'm there. I'll see if I do go with DS or with something cheaper though. And I'm eyeing a Teto figure right now so depending on what the shop has I might toss some sleeves in there too.
>generally better off getting singles then boxes just because of rarity distribution
Figured that's the case, but besides wanting some merch of it there's also an element of directly supporting the show with this since it deserves it. Especially with how shit Kimi to Idol was in comparison. If there's some particularly pretty card I might get a single of it down the line but I'm content with the boxes for now.
>>

I'm gonna be annoying and say if asking to get in gets you in 100% then it is open; closed would be invite only with odds of not getting in. And as annoying as Discord is, almost any game in 'open beta' will require you make an account somewhere to get in in my experience.

>You can't fix yugiohs problem without just banning entire mechanics or starting over and making a new game
I don't see that happening. Especially not a new game. There's not enough support in the West for two games (even if they brought it over Rush Duel would die on the vine), and they'd never outright jettison or restart the original game. And, again, resets alone do not guarantee a good game even when they're regular; they just help mitigate mistakes and can aid in preventing things from spiraling out of control while still encourzging players to buy new cards (which is what matters). I haven't played Rush Duel and know little about it, but Konami will still be Konami and I'm guessing Rush Duel reflects it.
>>
There is no point to using MtG as a measuring stick or reference when Duel Masters exists and is objectively better in every single way anyway
>>
>>97235530
Personally I think another issue is the minimum deck size is 40 it makes combo decks ultra consistent
>>
>>97235615
No, Konami printing redundant quantities of archetypal starters makes combo decks ultra consistent and combo piles that need to play several bricks or garnets like Branded or Earth Machine end up being more consistent at higher deck sizes because they're less likely to open with a dead card in their opening 5 while still having 22+ potential live play starters to draw. This obviously isn't the case with every archetype as not all of them are printed with the same quantity or quality of combo starter, but there's a lot of once-meta or forever rogue decks that are gasping for more consistent starters. Rescue Ace would probably best be played at 50 cards if it had 1-2 more archetypal names that lead to full combo without a normal summon due to the 4 soft garnets it plays for Turbulence's quad set.
If anything, I think cards like Pot of Prosperity proportionally gave more value to decks not personally blessed by John Konami than the decks that already have ample starter/extender density and better things to do with their ED.

Guys, I want to talk about HELLPIERCERS. I bought this game a bit ago because I thought it looked cool, and I've read it, and I don't know enough people weird enough to play it with me, and I can't stop thinking about it, and I just have to talk about it with someone.

>First up: what the fuck is Hellpiercers? And why do you spell it in all-caps? Do you have autism?
HELLPIERCERS is a tactical tabletop RPG developed by SandyPug Games alongside a few people who did some dev work on some of the Lancer supplements. It casts the PCs as gnostic demigod heroes and veterans of the War in Heaven, who aided the forces of humanity in regaining their stolen gnosis and slaying the Demiurge, his Archons, and angelic generals. Having conquered Heaven and liberated the mortal plane from the tyranny of false divinity, they now cast their eyes downward, into Hell, where countless human souls remain enslaved by the demon lords below. Hellpiercers, armed with their god-slaying weapons, clad in armor forged from the corpses of angels, lead a war of liberation against the forces of Hell, to free the enslaved souls of every human who has ever lived.

I spell it in all-caps because it's title is rendered in all-caps. I'm pretty sure I'm not autistic, but I've never been tested, so who even fucking knows?

A lot more stuff gets called shill here than deserves it, but this couldn't be more obviously an ad. I would have more interest if you frankly admitted this is your game that you are selling. Sure. The way characters work in TACCOM is that their abilities are defined by their weapons (your attacks), armor (your movement rules), and class (your special abilities), at least initially; there's an unlock system. Because you can swap shit out at your leisure during RECON, you can just completely reconfigure your team to whatever you think will be most useful before heading out. It encourages a system of plays and counter-plays as you feel out what your enemy is good at and bad at and specialize towards hitting them where they're weak.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Can give advice how to fuse together Fomalhaut and Yoon Suin? I will run Fomalhaut and want add Yooun Suin on far east. There are two reasons for this. First i like both setting, and second I want to add a really big city and Yun Suin with its Indian vibes seems like a great addition to the Mediterranean Greek/Arabic vibes of the main region.

>solo gamer wants to talk about anxiety
It'll be okay. Don't prep the end, just set up the world a bit and let people explore. Explain those concepts at the beginning. They're going to have very different ideas about what's going on or the point of the activity than you, that's not a problem.
No advice for that game, doubtful you'll get much traction with it here.
>>
>>97235494
I've used Yoon-Suin quite a bit. What about it were you thinking of using specifically?
>Indianess
The Hundred Kingdoms part is very India inspired, but wasn't a part I used at all. Its on the map but wasn't as interesting to anyone so we haven't gone there.
Starting in the Yellow City worked well enough, generating an outsider's quarter with the tables gave me enough to work with and do an intro adventure.
The hex content generation for Lahag was I think, in retrospecct compared to other hexcrawling I've run and read about, too crowded. There's basically an encounter every hex which themes with the jam packed jungle but felt like too much in play.
>fomalhaut
I've only used the Nocturnal Table and liked it quite a bit.

What about it were you thinking of using specifically? Whole setting will be cool, but at least Yelow city. Use it as a class I city, a journey to which is a separate adventure, a place where you can take a caravan with great profit and where there is the greatest chance of buying/selling a magic item. But the problem is that Fomalhaut as a planet was a lifeless glacier 4,000 years ago until an interstellar Greek civilization arrived there. 3,200-3,800 years ago, it fell in war, after which the inhabitants of Fomalhaut slid into the age of iron and bronze. Meanwhile, Yoon-Suin is simply a fantasy setting, just set not in the Western Middle Ages, but in the Indian/Far Eastern.

The Nemean Lion. I like the fact its a huge ass lion with nigh invulnerable skin and is intelligent. Moreso that Grappler Baki has become the baseline of what I consider "mundane" strength in a fantasy setting so pic related would be how I'd imagine the Nemean Lion to be.
>>
>>97228517
The more rooted in folklore or myth the better.
I like Fomorians and hosts of ghostly riders, and evil child-stealing fairies that aren't quite elves and aren't quite goblins.
I like the vengeful dead, and tremendous animals that can speak, because they are touched by ancient powers.
Manifestations of untamed nature and the malice of the ancient dead.

More map campaign system thoughts: I might ditch the entire thing of controlling hexes with nothing in them to gain territory and money. It adds a lot of bookkeeping for relatively little value, and doesn't make all that much sense. Better to just track the ownership of territories that actually grant bonuses.

>but import fees are due with every parcel service (obviously)
And yet for every other crowdfunder Ive experienced, the use of a distribution company avoids these last minute/surplus charges.
I pay the up front shipping fee, and thats that. Received things from Europe, states, straight from Asia, and never paid import charges as its already been handled company side. While this was an expensive order, having gone all in on Flick Fleet deluxe, shipping from Britsin, and not paid a dime above the initial shipping charged, it makes me nettled. Of course, that was literally two dudes in their garage that avoided large parcel carrier services in fulfillment, but any time you opt for Fedex/UPS/ DHL, it feels like a big fuck you to the buyer.

Anyway as >>97235046 pointed out, this is all self inflicted. And I am not dealing with incompetence leading to surprise VAT shit as thats not a thing here.

It's an important life lesson you probably should learn sooner or later than transporting goods across international borders isn't simple and that the default is that it will cost you. Better to learn it buying a boardgame vs importing something that's 5 grand from a nontrade partner and seeing what happens to you
Crowdfunding is not your friend, and you live in bongland, were you not paying attention to what your government did with brexit? Be fortunate you're not out a whole lot of money

>>97235091
flip7 is in a weird spot for me. It is almost too complex to teach to where if I can teach it to someone i could probably get them to figure out something much better. It doesn't really fill the need for games I can play with adults who read and function at 6 year old level very well

>why bother with 1000 cannons if you can just field 1000 wizards?
If the logistics happened in a vacuum this would be a functional question but we don't really have that at the same time as not having an actual setting, its just everyone's likely different ideas about how common wizards are.
Yes, in a perfect world the army I like would have all the things I want when I want them. Doesn't seem like an interesting game though.
I've considered trying to take the perry brother's napoleonic battle in a box and add a few fantastical elements, I think more towards the idea of magic as subterfuge and support oriented warfare. Keeps it involved but mangeable and from being overwhelming or turning into herohammer except everyone has tall hats.
A system of cards with battlefield altering abilities that are interesting but don't make things too swingy or radically undermine the interesting aspects of early manoeuvre warffare.

Have you played the brawl challenge, and if so, which commander?

Is the only way to play this game casually with friends? I don't want to have to read and understand thousands of cards to put together the most broken combos so that I can play the game. Like is there a common/uncommon only mode? I want to be able to play with cards I think are cool even if they aren't the best (most broken)

Oh makes sense.
I still think mail B is the most recent one because the oldest news in Inbox in mail A is dated 2022 while the oldest one in B is 2025 so I guess Mail B is the one I used to get into this seriously.

This has always been the intended way to enjoy magic
However game already (sort of) pairs stronger meta decks against each other and stupid jank against other stupid jank, you can just mess around in brawl and other unranked constructed formats

yes, aggro decks have to play 1drops and 2drops. that's how MTG works. you cannot play aggro decks and just pass early turns because your opponent might have a 3 mana wrath. i have no idea why you're implying this would be the case (other than the presumption that you are a stone retard)
game is designed to make board based decks flood the board and then reward brainlet control players with automatic wins to make them feel like they're "punishing an overextension", a camp you clearly fall into. go queue up with your faggot jace avatar and your "the brilliant" title, so smart because you figured out that removing creatures from the board is what you're supposed to do when you load your deck up with removal spells

Anyone planning to play any Christmas Specials? One-shots or variations on your regular game? Our group often has a Christmas special of some kind, either some unique silly monsters, or the current party portalled to the North Pole, or some villain stole all their magic items for presents, that kind of thing. What does your group do for the holidays?

Brilliant, I think I'll copy this idea.

I did a christmas Jawa one shot for my star wars campaign once. They had to sneak into Mos Eisley and steal a bunch of stuff for Jawa Life Day. Ended up getting caught and had to kill a couple New Republic troopers to get out of there

Last year the players had a great time at the Whomstville Christmas Festival meeting a cast lf kooky characters and stopping the Binch from sabotaging all the eventa like sled races, figure skating, and cookie decorating. It ended with the party ambushing The Binch as he tried to blight the big christmas tree in front of everyone in Whomstville only to realize that his mischevious scheme was actually the equivalent of a magival nuke and accidentally killed everyone in Whomstville.

This year the party had to go back to the Whomstville Memorial Site after reports that the Binch was seen cavorting with some unknown figures during his house arrest. The Binch explained it was his bitch of an ex-wife Gryla and their thirteen ugly fucked up kids called the Yule Lads ttying to ruin Christmas and made it very clear he wasn't involved because he was on parole.

The party went down the back of The Binch's mountain where they had to fight the 13 Yule Lads, each equipped with one very unique power(Stekkjastaur made you want to fuck animals, Spoon-Licker would summon dancing spoons to fuck you up, door-sniffer would stab you with his proboscis nose if you didn't spend your move action giving him bread, ect) and Jolakastur, the giant Yule Cat that fucks you up if you dont have new clothes on christmas. The battle devolved into a mad panic to get across the map giving eachother gifts to keep Jola off of them while slowly whittling through the Yule Lads. It was a ton of fun.
