Any problems you have with Warhammer 40k/Games Workshop over the past few years, anon? Do you see it getting better or worse?
>>97222984I just do not have the time/desire to paint a whole army anymore becaus I usually take my time with assembly and painting this is why I switched to Kill Team which is awsomethis is also the reason why I do not get people complaining about GW prices all the time, when i buy a Kill Team combo box for like 80€ I am good for like a month, the guys who coplain about prices must have a pile of shame the size of everest

>>97222984>the "diversification" of the art and stories>femstodes>primarshits>votan>price increases>price increases again>scale creep>absolutely everything that has happened since they decided to move the lore forward>Do you see it getting better or worse?Depends on your point of view. The lore won't get any better, primaris garbage is here to stay and it's unlikely that prices will ever go down in a meaningful way. GW has figured out that manufactured scarcity drives FOMO sales and there are too many whales and scalpers for the practice to not make sense. I don't see them ever changing the rules to get rid of IGYG and the game will always be steered by tournament fags. Scale creep isn't going to be rolled back so the abundance of high model count armies are still going to be cumbersome to play. I don't have any issue with CAD made sculpts in principal, but the chunky cartoonish style we have now isn't going anywhere which is sad. The "diversification" may halt as the zeitgeist changes, but it wont be rolled back.On the bright side, they did bring back the old world and it's cheaper than 40k. 30k being converted to plastic is cool. A lot of old sculpts being redone is hit and miss, but the new eldar and necrons look great; I love that necrons got an expanded model range.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>97225715https://paeantosmac.wordpress.com/2016/03/25/secret-project-the-voice-of-planet/An excerpt. “Now just take a moment to imagine what it must be like to be in his position. Here he stands at the end of time. He’s an immortal cyborg superhuman. He possesses all the secrets of the universe. He’s created at least one universe to help bend this one to his own ends. He may as well be a god himself. And after everything he has accomplished, after learning every last secret Reynolds has hidden on the technology tree, he still has to humble himself before an alien god and beg to be spared.” “We’ve already seen how he values the acquisition of knowledge above all else. It’s literally baked into the game as his favorite Social Engineering choice. It is thus perfectly fitting that when he is finally forced to make his prostrations, his offering is the sum total of the datalinks themselves. This is a beautiful image; it works on every literary level.”
>>97228179Last time I used the setting with GURPS, it was spring '19 and we played a campaign set in late early game, basically making bunch of recon missions and light skirmishes (Morganites and Miriam). We played as Gaians, we rolled a copter as the content of the very first pod we were tasked to examine and retreive, so a fuckload of Captain Planet jokes followed now that we had a flying recon vehicle. GM meanwhile simply generated random world and used that for our campaign map.We moved to using Ubiquity for SMAC right before covid, the crunch fits much better and allows to acknowledge equipment and its quality/advancement, while being far more aimed toward auto-resolution rather than high probability of success (plus no need to re-calculate 3e source book to 4e mechanics)

>>97226308It would be fucking hilarious if so, but yeah if it does go EoS I think it all just goes down the drain. Although given how profitable it is I think they'll at minimum keep it running for as long as they make tons of money off it, even if just from rotating banners or something.
>>97226308I think full EoS is unlikely. The game's too lucrative, and they'd probably be more transparent if that was the case. If I had to guess, we'll either have:>smaller Singularities and sidestories until actual EoS>Foreigner Ordeal Call is actually Arc 3>completely new story arc >Servantverse
>>97226308When gacha games are shuttered usually that's it. You get nothing and the app is gone. The better ones keep an offline mode and turn it into a f2p thing, but that's not to be expected. This is the nature of live service games. Putting money in is always a temporary purchase.

Any refunds no questions askedWith things like this out there, how do you justify GW prices? You're literally burning money.
I like that your argument isn't that GW is making money they shouldn't be, but consuming are giving them money the wrong way and they should be purchasing OP's GW product of choice.Instead of a different game.
>>97227322GW cucks are like that.

>>97227293Customer service might be a point, but I don't buy from GW directly. But I would not buy from Joytoy directly either. So it comes down to each individual store I buy from, but yes, support from AliExpress sellers is usually extremely good.Everything else is a negative to me. I would love if Joytoy would sell unpainted kits of their models tho. Why would I want propainted action figures if I want to wargame?

>>97215105It’s the opposite. I don’t care that much about the lore but i likewise don’t want to play against some ballaching metafag which is the majority of people i’ve met in KT so far. To claim that you just want to “throw some dice” is absurd when metafags are the least casual players you can go against. My last game had my opponent go over the entire meta leaderboard status of the top teams and how the newest dataslate could impact the upcoming this and that other fuckin tournament. Who gives a shit. >>97216044I’ve never met the latter in my life in any game. I would find a /yourdudes/ autist pretty annoying i’m sure but i’ve yet to even meet one to make this observation. The most fun games are somewhere in the middle where it’s a good clean fun game where the rules are observed but both sides remember that we are trying to simulate dudes fighting eachother and not merely moving spreadsheets around
>>97222716>both sides remember that we are trying to simulate dudes fighting eachother and not merely moving spreadsheets aroundNot instigating anything, but what would this look like to you? And how would it impact the game or enhance the enjoyment of the battle? I ask because used to live in a place where our local spot tried to implement a sort of narrative campaign but it ended up just being limply implemented and mostly limited to a whiteboard map that got colored in depending on what faction (Chaos, Xenos, Imperium) won the most games in any given week. For me, KT has fun rules and good game design so just the act of playing is enjoyable; you could strip out the flavor of the teams and it still would be enjoyable on a mechanical level. Obviously the flavor is what adds the special spice to the game, getting to interact with the factions/setting you like and all that comes with that, but at its heart KT is still a warGAME to me.
Anyone played the new raveners ?How do they play ? are they more of a aggro team or do they just hide in their tunnel and do missions mostly ?

It's not under psychology.Special rules for flame weapons in the armory book>In 2ed you can't fire through other models in the same unit, right? I couldn't find the exception.nope, no exception, although large targets can be sighted over smaller models. In practice it rarely matters because of the severe firing arc restrictions, and because sighting any model in an opposing squad is enough. You also wind up splitting fire a LOT more in 2e than you'd think. Losing split fire entirely was actually one of the bigger complaints when the edition change rolled out. Letting you fire through models in the same squad was partly a quick-fix for that. A whole bunch of the tweaks in 4e were trying to get around people using precise unit placement and range fuckery to "snipe" exactly the models they wanted out of an enemy unit, as well as prevent the defender from playing shell games with wounds to avoid losing specific models.

Littlewars TV is running a campaign of Unternehmen Wintergewitter, the abortive attempt of Von Manstein to relieve the Stalingrad pocket in late 1942. This seems to be a pretty popular topic recently, Donnerschlag from VUCA sims is a hex 'n chit version of this battle. In any case they have produced a stripped down version of Fistful of TOWs and also this fantastic document with linked scenarios. This is really what I'm looking for in any wargaming ruleset. I fucking hate rulebooks with dozens upon dozens of pages of army lists and special rules but NO scenarios, or just a few generic ones without force compositions. Any recommendations for similar campaign / scenario booklets? Ideally with an overarching goal and decision tree of scenarios like this one?
