>>96486740>Oh no tactical and strategic complexity in my strategy boardgame.First off, planning a river crossing is a fun tactical challenge, secondly, practically all river maps in the game are either 1 tile wide or have 1 tile wide *fords*. So they really only take 2 turns to cross at most and lastly Mechs slower than 5/8 can really only reliably get 1 TMM anyway, so with the guaranteed partial it's not even that crippling defensively. Also muh multiple PSRs really? They're at -1 so even at 5 pilotting you're looking at an 11/12 chance of success.
I'm making a pirate crew but I'm not sure if I should use a zeus, or the zeus from hell that is the rampage. Because even for pirates who are well known collectors of unicorns, I feel it may be a little too much of a unicorn
What kinds of ‘Mechs are typical Dark Caste? Era is 3015, I assume low-grade stuff not far off of Inner Sphere ‘Mechs like Griffins and such.

>>96489147>but one of my players has been asking to be allowed to play a mage.No. Hard no. Shut that shit down immediately. Cross-splat is a horrible, unbalanced, barely functional mess even if you know what you're doing. You would have to learn an entirely different game with different lore and mechanics just to facilitate one player who can and will demand do to solo scenes while everyone else is daysleeping. Tell him to play a Tremere or stfu.
I'm trying to start a game for Hunter: the Vigil but I can only find a pdf for 1e. Anyone know a place where I could find 2e? For free, that is. Otherwise, is 1e good enough to start with?

has there ever been some sort of giga-torrent for TT PDFs out there? I remember there being a place called the Trove or something which is gone now. At the time it was around 1TB iirc, but since RPG releases have swelled and there's so many now, I imagine that's no longer so viable. I'm just trying to figure out how to collect these since I love reading them and looking at the pretty pictures more than playing.
/tg/, I'm designing a campaign for my group. The campaign consists from three acts. As a whole, they cover levels from 1 to 20.What happens in the first act is immaterial for this thread. In the very beginning of the second act, however, they will meet the big villain of the campaign, who decides that they're going to be a threat to his master plan and immediately kills them all right at the end of a gruelling dungeon. The player characters then go to Valhalla, meet not!Odin and then return to life with a divine quest. Half of the second act will involve fulfilling this quest to pay not!Odin back for their resurrection. The other half involves revenge against the villain. Now, obviously if they just reveal themselves, they'd just be killed again. So they'll be gently suggested to assume false identities and infiltrate the villain's massive army of mercenaries in order to foil his plan from the inside. By the end of the act, the villain's army will be gone, his personal power extinguished, and then he'll die as the final boss of the act. That's the idea. However, I keep thinking about how it'll actually go. I have 7-9 dungeons in mind for the second act. That is a lot of sessions spent under secret identities, while everyone believes that they're dead. While the undercover arc could potentially be interesting, I'm also seeing the potential for it to be very exhausting to actually go through.Should I just pre-emptively cut the "undercover" part to just 1 or 2 dungeons? It's going to be pretty difficult to change them on the fly, if I see that this story is not working.

>>96483949>Should I just pre-emptively cut the "undercover" part to just 1 or 2 dungeons?Yeah. In the worst case scenario, it's much easier to extend an idea than it is to cut it short without fucking up your pacing, and the most common mistake accomplished writers make is having arcs and story beats stick around for longer than they're welcome.Ignore the retards ITT, this is a hobby not managing a nuclear fucking reactor, you can afford screw ups, and it's good to not be afraid of potential failure while you're chasing after success. Who knows, maybe you'll accomplish things no jaded faggot ever could.
Have you ever betrayed the party?Who were you and why did you do it?
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! >>96478378>how often do you guys subassemble your models? I'd like to try it once but it looks rather time consumingIf I don't need to do it I don't. If I have to I try to pin them from the side that attaches to the model, if it's too thin to pin I just glue it to a sprue stick. Shields usually get this treatment since gluing a shield to the model means you can't paint any of the model under it. Heads too if half the face is covered by armor or fur/cloth and attached after. One trick if you are subassembling and batch painting is to match-mark the parts to each model. For example, if you are painting mounted units and need to paint the riders and shields separate from the mount, use a marker to dot each part reletive to the mount mark, •, ••, •••, ect. Makes assembly go smoothly.
Are you ready for it, /tg/?

>>96488828It’s an upcoming game by Awaken Realms. From the looks of it, it’s kind of RPG-ish. To quote the GameFound page: "Lands of Evershade is a new hybrid RPG / Board Game experience for 1-5 players that merges the acclaimed Awaken Realms storytelling and quality components with a dice-based RPG system and fast tactical combat."There’s a PDF of the Player’s Handbook out already (the link for which I posted earlier), but since the game is not released and still in development, it’s still a WIP so it may or may not reflect the final product.

The spicier the better. I'll start to get the ball rolling: MTG, DnD and Warhammer are actually good for the hobby. They get new people started in this hobby and they keep the trend chasers contained and away from the rest of the hobby.Appealing to the normie masses is a necessary evil in order to keep what you love afloat. Even if it comes with the negative baggage of doing so.Generals are good for /tg/.
>>96488817do you actually believe that?Do you sincerely think that you could start doing something with your bro and eventually women will come desperate for your attention?
>>96487291D&D is kind of a terrible starter game but I guess so
>>96487291While monetizing everything can go and often does go too far, it's not wrong for people making these niche games to want to make a buck by doing something they enjoy. There's no one-size-fits-all way to play or run RPGs, and trying to find one is folly. Narrative.heavy storygames and lethal dungein crawls are both obviously real and tre RPGs, they're both fine as long as they fit a given group's tastes, and spending time and energy arguing about what real RPGs are about is silly. Not literally everything is political even in the current year. If you're the first one that starts talking about politics in a given discussion, then the problem isn't the other side making you think about politics, it's you.
>>96488817If your point of posting that pic was to show you are retarded nogames you succeeded.
