on a whim i bought a pot of armypainter quickshade that had been sitting on lgs shelf for a better part of 15 years, clerk said it was there when he started working there and that was 10 years ago and i remember seeing that banged up can even before that

liquid was completely clear and when i dug deep all the particles were solified to the bottom, there was this 15mm layer of mudlike pigment cement that i mixed to the best of my abilities
after an hour of shaking i tried it again and this is what i came up with
beautiful innit

Definitely. Hell a 1000 years is a long time let alone eternity. It's healthy to keep picking up new things. Or things that are taken on a immortal time scale. Like some immensely complicated board game.

Indeed, proponents of the system say it's worth it for the fact it speeds up the game.
It seems to be a trend lately.
>>
>>96473501
You've identified why it's unpopular
>>
>>96473488
That sounds extremely gay, you don’t even cut out the step of adding your to-hit rolls together (it’s just pilot die + d6 instead of 2d6) but you make your rolls into an all-or-nothing affair. Why would anybody want that?
>>
>>96473608
Because Alpha Strike players are extremely lazy.
>>
>>96473523
Until both players keep rolling 1s and 2s for their pilot dice. You don't even get chip damage with this system.

The changes in play are largely subtle most of the time. Tanky melee classes tank better and don't have to worry about spells, but 99% of monsters don't wear armor and largely focus on melee anyway.
It makes Martial BBEGs an actually terrifying threat rather than a joke though.
>>96473226
>but still woefully inadequate to make any real difference at high levels
Not if you go deep into the crafting autism. It's pretty easy(if expensive) to get a +20-30 total bonus to saves off armor alone. Monsters rarely have the DCs to overcome that unless I optimize them for high spell DCs specifically.
>>
>>96473437
Exactly. Which is why it's weird fot anon to get bent out of shape over it existing.
>>
>>96471389
people use a lot of the higher level stuff (though not epic) in e6
>>
>>96473437
>There are way cheaper ways of getting sure you can get your attack off. Hell, attack bonus is one of your least problems if you are a full-BAB class.
It's not just about hitting, it's about hitting while trading as much of your BAB for power attack as possible. The two primary ways I know of are wraithstrike (target touch AC which is usually much lower) and heedless charge (power attack gives -AC rather than -to hit)
>>96473437
>>96473486
I'd price it at 16,000,000 gp, 8kk pricing for weapon enhancement bonus, doubled for unusual bonus type. In other words, I don't want that item in my game.

>Second Edition
"second season" is the GW branding, this is more like 13th edition?
And no, people are only playing 2020 (and will only play 2025) because it's the current gw product, and it will live only so long as that status is maintained.
the 6th community edition (Living Rule Book 6) is the latest edition of the game that survived on it's own merit of being a good game that people wanted to play.
It is also the last version of the game to be designed with the involvement of the man who invented the game, as well as the last vrsion of the game to be released as a complete game all at once AND is the last version of the game to be playtested with a goal of making th game balanced and fun to play.
You say you are getting your friends into the game, so you aren't relying on the existence of an already established group, which means you can buy whatever team miniatures you want and play with whatever rules you want, so the free and complete LRB6 is a valid option here, you can play that and still buy whatever minis GW makes as they come out.
>>
>>96472652
That's a good point
>>96472669
Sorry, I'm talking about the 2020 Second Season Edition box and the 2025 Third Season Edition box
I will most likely mainly play at my LGS. I'm not sure whether or not yet I can get my friends to come along
>>
Anyone have any recent additions to your warcry / mordheim terrain you'd like to share? I have all of the branded Warcry terrain I could care for but I was wondering do you think the Fortified Manor the Empire could be converted into something playable or would I be better off buying some generic scatter terrain like hills and rock formations?
>>
>>96472855
>I will most likely mainly play at my LGS.
Shouldn't matter if you can get friends in on it then, you'll find interested players.
HGell I would take a couple teams and a small pitch to cafes, set up and then just read a book until some random expressed interest in the miniatures, I've got a few people into playing that way.
>>
>>96473152
manor was nice sight blocking terrain, and you can have some model garrison on top of the watch tower, but it's kinda small for AoS-scale, it's also completely flat with no detail inside.

Yeah like I said it's the easiest route to go down, and it does seem like in the past few years aos has focused on updating whfb leftover races, and (slightly) tweaking them to avoid overlap. Aggradon lancers instead of saurus knights, barrow guard instead of grave guard, that sort of thing. (Though tbf in some cases like skaven and chaos they were more 1 to 1 straight updates). It's very much the expected route for the game to go, which is why it's strange that the rumourmongers haven't really said anything of the sort.
>>96473240

Dragons are one of the archetypal things you expect to see in fantasy, arguably even more than other mainstays of the genre like Elves, Dwarves, Gandalf-style wizards, etc. Be they monsters, incarnations of pure Good, Evil, or some other force or being, actual gods or other divine beings, shapeshifters who can take on human form as needed, or what, Dragons seem to capture our imaginations like no other, with cultures all over the world having legends of dragons and similar creatures. So, I figure it couldn’t hurt to talk about how you handle dragons on your own settings, and what your favorite depictions are. Art of dragons is fine too!

the only problem is the lack of writer restraint
every setting has gobs of leveled adventurers/heroes with at least semi-optimized builds and party compositions, most of the time they have really high ability scores, and of course plot armor

I don't think you should be limited to E6, but I try to stay in that mindset.

I've run a mix of voice and text oneshots, and currently running a text campaign. I'm enjoying it way more than being stuck in eternal 5e hell, and it's going to be a handy tool to get people to step outside of 5e because if they weren't going to do it of their own accord they're highly likely the type that, even if they're not CR fans, they know the name and would try it because of it. It's not as big a shake up to the expected D&D as they tried to make it seem like before release and whatever, fine.

The books consistently harps on about players having to be awake and proactive and contribute to the game instead of having the DM do 99% of it. The physical cards are nice for when I run tables for teens and kid in OOSH, I already make my own cards for them but the core set came with one already. The main hurdle I'm coming across is people always trying to find a mechanical outcome for a thing instead of playing for the story, this also happens when I take an action as a monster and only make narrative/environmental changes instead of rolling to attack a PC, it's been fun working on that and seeing things click into place for new players.

tl;dr more flexible than 5e and faster to run, shame CR shot it in the head and went back to 5e lol
>>
>>96469800
Critical Role won't even play it. They're playing DND instead. Isn't that embarrassing?
>>
For context, I have played Dungeon World, GMed Homebrew World (with the follower rules from Infinite Dungeons), played and GMed Fellowship 1e, played and GMed Fellowship 2e, and GMed Chasing Adventure.

I GMed the Daggerheart quickstart for three players (and went a little further with a bonus encounter against the colossus Ikeri, a spellblade leader, and an Abandoned Grove environment, during which Ikeri was one-turn-killed: https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/95975566/#95994135 ).

I wrote up an actual play report, during which I concluded that Daggerheart just is not for me, even relative to other PbtA games.

I am still fairly invested in the game. I like the playtest material that they have available:
https://www.daggerheart.com/thevoid/

And I am eager to see what Keith Baker will be writing for Daggerheart:
https://darringtonpress.com/gencon2025-announcements/
>New Daggerheart World by Creators of Eberron and More: Finally, we have Keith Baker and Jenn Ellis’s new world in Daggerheart! From the minds of fan-favorite RPG worlds like Eberron and innovative tabletop games like Phoenix Dawn Command, Illimat, and the Adventure Zone Storytelling Game, Twogether Studio’s Keith Baker and Jenn Ellis are partnering with us to make their next grand world using Daggerheart. Expect thrilling worldbuilding and brilliant new player option designs from this powerhouse team.

Oh, and I also homebrewed this modern-day demigod campaign frame:

>There are rules in the RT Rulebook for stat-fiddling infantry, and making your own vehicles, so it's certainly possible to make rules for later factions
true at minimum would just need to create baseline stat lines for Tau and Necrons(Dark Eldar one could probably get away with just using the existing RT Eldar statlines, much like if you were to do Votann you'd probably just use Squat stats)

>though they may lack the special faction rules that later editions loved to hand out
also true though I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to backport some of those as needed

>You'd have to decide if you wanted your Necrons to act like robots/vehicles or conventional units though.
yet another thing to sort out, though I could see them being a mix of both(much like how core RT Tyranids make use of the regular equipment and vehicle rules just fluffed to fit their biotech niche)

>core RT Tyranids make use of the regular equipment and vehicle rules just fluffed to fit their biotech niche

This varies, depending on whether you use the Vehicle Manual rules or not (and the only Nid 'Vehicle' they ever released a datafax for was the Screamer Killer Carnifex). The Tryanids list (In White Dwarf 145) actually had a monster stat-line for them instead, so you can happily live without the vehicle layout plans and Perspex targeting matrix, if you want to.

The only lists really stuck with the Vehicle Manual rules are the later Ork ones, the Space Wolves list and... the Knornate Ravagers (because of the Wheelchair of doom). And, even then, I don't think robots ever got a targeting card (weird, considering that a Nid unit did).

It wouldn't be hard to make statlines for anything with RT's core book.

One of these days I'd like to tackle a RT Battle Bible, so all the scattered rules are in one spot. Though you end up with oddities like the original vehicle rules being superseded with stuff released in WD. Honestly you almost have two different games with RT, corebook only RT which is fairly self contained and RT+ where all the WD material gets added in.

I play in a large campaign and it really doesn't seem to matter, a lot of people use modern minis on bigger circles, some 25mm circles and some squares. I personally use my WHFB army so i use 20mm and 25mm squares for normal stuff and 40mm for monster.

Has anybody here read the books? I feel like I'm the only one on the internet. There are some things I want to talk about if anybody else knows them. I'm not even going to bother trying on /lit/.
