>>96461999Personally I just find it odd that there hasn't been any major adaptions of the Sith Empire, outside of TOR and some visions shorts to my knowledge (by which I mean- stuff that's not comics or books that only the super-dedicated fans would be aware of).
>>96461999>It didn't make the Jedi bad guys.Yes, it did. This might not be your understanding of the show (as far as I'm concerned, for example, everything the jedi did was 100% justified), but that was certainly the intention of the author. The jedi (and more specifically Sol) were supposed to be wrong at every step of the way, both during the coven crisis and during the actual events of the series. Sol couldn't even die in a good manner, because by allowing himself to be killed he stole agency from Osha again and infantilized her. You are right to compare the situation to Waco, but it's written to be Waco in its most uncharitable, "ATF is Satan" version.
>>96461999>What they did was a massive fuck-up, a sort of Waco Texas.Did the Waco guys put a girl on a pyre and give the impression to any reasonable observer directly in front of the cops that they were going to light it on fire and kill her? Because those witch-bitches absolutely had it coming, the lead one turned into a fucking darkside smoke monster.Don't pretend any of the retardation in that show was in any way intentional and clever, they absolutely intended the viewer should take the Jedi as the villains they're just so ideologically vapid and functionally incompetent that they couldn't pull it off.
>>96462075I have no idea what you're talking about. That wasn't at all my reading. What happened was the Jedi landed on the planet on a routine mission, possibly overstepped their bounds in asking for the kids to possibly enter Jedi training- but they didn't force the issue, only extending the offer. They only went in because they (rightfully) suspected there was foul play involved with the kids, but this caused such a massive retaliation by the witches that it led to all the civilians except the twins dying, which was the result of their intervention. To me it seemed that pretty much everything they did, while arguably perhaps not up to the strictest standards of the Jedi, were justifiable deviations that spiralled out of their control. And that the real crime was not owning up to the massive fuck up and agreeing to cover it up. Something that two of the Jedi involved also seemed to have agreed on, given they were willing to die at the twins hands in exchange for some kind of forgiveness. I mean that last part is just text. And all this in my mind is perfectly in line with what we see with the Jedi's fuckups in the Prequels where they are portrayed as much worse, in different ways. The Prequel Jedi's issues are that they are dogmatic, inflexible, and arrogant that they blind themselves to massive issues. The stuff in Acolyte felt to me a perfect sort of compromise where we can see the faults in the Jedi order, without villainizing them to an extent that one couldn't still argue that they were a valuable institution of the Jedi- essentially turning them into Strawman Jedi. While I agree with some people the critique could have come with more bite, I think a bigger issue would have been portraying the Jedi, even at their height, as worse than they were in the Prequels. Wheras with the version they did, you can sensibly draw the line to where they ended up in the Prequels.
>>96462098You're arguing against yourself- saying that it's clear that the Jedi were in the right to go in, yet your takeaway is that they are meant to be the villains. When that clearly wasn't your takeaway.I think all of this is just being viewed through the chudslop filter. Like it or hate it, just like it or hate it for what it said.

>>96453503>made more airbenders out of nothingUhm, that's a good change though. They only made like like 20-200 of them, which is a pittance.Having all remaining Air Benders come from Aang wasn't satisfactory for me desu. Also people were born benders before. I can remember anyone from water tribe bending fire for instance.
>>96455274In addition to this, take note that the new airbenders who didn't give up their previous lives will probably have their bending dwindle away.Airbending requires a level of detachment from worldly things as a part of its spiritual nature. This is why being truly detached from all worldly things allows for flight. On the flipside of this, Kyoshi's mother Jesa was a master airbender who left the Air Nomad lifestyle and became a criminal, and fell in love with a man that she carried on a relationship with. Her life became so material that despite her level of skill, her airbending became weak. She had to rely on the use of a pair of metal fans (which Kyoshi would eventually acquire at some point in her life) in order to amplify her weakened airbending. The former Air Nomad culture was basically all benders. It's speculated that this is because they lived such spiritual and impermanent lives. They lived away from the other cultures and only come to them as travelers, they would migrate from temple to temple rather than have any one temple act as a permanent home, they engaged in simple pleasures, and they sought introspection and spiritual growth rather than physical strength and material development. This is a perfect recipe for being in touch with one's own airbending, and people who live vastly different lives will not be able to maintain their connection with the element.Hell, if Kai had not been picked up by the crew to join the "new Air Nation" and changed his ways, then he probably would have had his bending weaken eventually.
I tried Avatar Legends about a year back. It was miserable.>Combat was unfun, to the point our GM had to constantly write outs to cut it short.>Playbooks are more restricting to character concepts than not and really don't account for as many scenarios are you think. Same deal with the generic moves.>Mechanics that dictate what you're feeling and how you're allowed to express it are absolute cancer to the roleplay experience. Balance is interesting on paper, poorly implemented in practice.Having played this and DungeonWorld immediately after, I'm firmly in the "PBTA is shit" camp. What really insults me about it is that for ALL of its pretensions that you can "figure something out" if the given freeform mechanics don't cover a situation, its somehow both very limiting in its flavor and frustratingly limp in practicalities like "how long does [x] last" or "if there's no listed roll-failure effect, does nothing happen or are we obligated to make up our own?". I'd rather have no rules at all than pretend that you have rules but then shirking any responsibility of giving them definition or guidance for leeway on effects.
>>96460985>"how long does [x] last"It depends, and most things will tell you. Otherwise, you do what makes sense.>"if there's no listed roll-failure effect, does nothing happen or are we obligated to make up our own?"The GM's job is to respond to actions you do. If you fail the roll for something, even if a move doesn't dictate the consequences, it's their responsibility to determine what's happening next. They are suppose to be responsive to what you do as you interact with the world. If you didn't like PbtA style games that's fine. Not everyone likes mechanics that give direction to how their characters feel, or they don't like how open-ended things can be, or whatever. But don't conflate your bad experiences with the idea that games can't be run effectively or enjoyed. People do actually get how this kind of game works, and they can have fun with it.

It's kinda funny to me that an integral function of the setting and something the builds will most certainly interact with is mentioned exactly once under one option in JITE with basically zero elaboration, namely the fact that you boost your Idolon with materials you ger. I guess it's self-explanatory enough...?
>>96460856>Yuuichi NakamuraI dig it.For how they might interact, they're in similar positions and I imagine their parents move around some the same circles, dragging them along for the ride. There's a good chance their of their families being close in a business sense since her father's firm could have hands in construction pushed by Kurobane, which could make him even more wary of her than he'd already be. Could create a situation where they're pushed to get along for the mutual benefit of their family's, and possibly even because they see it benefiting Sumi since Kurobane group could probably pull some strings to help with her career. On a more personal level, they could end interacting through a mutual dislike of the Census Club. It's not something she's too concerned about, but if/when she's harassed in a way she actually cares about, her anger make her eager to het back.
Not many know this but all of my builds sound like Peter Griffin for their VA. Even the cute girls.

Do melee weapons require a clear sight too for autohits or once you're in combat, people are aware of the assassin?I do know ambushes count but I'm thinking of:>enter combat by ambush>ally assassin throws smoke grenade to cover main assassin>fight starts>opponent lacks the cyberware to see through smoke or something, misses attack>main assassin moves to behind opponent to further confuse opponent and strikes againNormal hit or autohit? asking for red
>>96457928Smoke applies a penalty on attacks and shots through it, which by definition means you can attack or shoot people in smoke, which also by definition means you can see them even if they're "obscured".They're normal hit beyond the initial ambush, but the target in smoke is going to take a -4 penalty to their evasion because you are obscured by the smoke. As a Ref I would probably allow an automatic hit from your initial attack so long as its being made during the ambush. If you want to hit and run to get another automatic hit I would require you to break line of sight in such a way that there is uncertainty where you are. Ducking behind a wall and then running back the way you came wouldn't be enough.
When doing an FBC, will you become scarier or cuter? Will you swap between bodies like Smasher?
>>96459153> GMAt your discretion, NPCs have what you give em and if it makes sense for the character to have a “on job” and “off job” body then they’d customize it> PlayerGood fucking luck getting even 1 with the economy as it is and the cost to go from meat to metal in time, eddies, and humanity. After that point you’ll probably not have another body but just build out your current one to be amazing. If your frame is too big to hide then just rep it as style. No one will question your machine god chassis, but if by some miracle you manage to scrape enough eddies for another body it would probably be better to use that money elsewhere. If you were given a FBC by a corp or something MAYBE you can get a swap body, but that’s just dressing on your gilded cage
I'm on a weird spot. One player character stole a corpo exec's item, and the exec wants it back.Thing is, I've already established him as making others kill for him. He will order the party to deliver back the item after killing the thief. The thing? Exec knows of the thief, but not his group. So Exec sent the thief's own group to kill him.I dont know if player characters killing other player characters are taken well, other than accidental friendly fire, so how can I make this fair while still keeping the tension and stakes?
