I've really been enjoying reading through Runequest, so I don't understand why it seems so underrated in modern gaming.
There doesn't really seem to be much interest in the current edition compared to early ones.
I was hoping that there could be more excitement over its potential.
Especially with the changes coming.

>I see nothing desirable whatsoever in keeping up with a setting where nothing you do in game could ever matter at all because the mary sue is already destined to ruin the setting in short order.
So just decide that he doesn't? If you're the GM then you could have Argrath die off screen in session one and continue however you want.
>>
>>96639329
I already do. I'm saying i'm getting pissed with their focus on it and I feel actively disinclined to buy their stuff due to it.
>>
>>96640268
Really, what focus on it? Outside of King of Satar they don't really have any official writing on the future of the game after the game start. Just up to about a year after 1625 with the death of Kallyr and the uncertain future of Dragon Pass it brings.

Barely any of their RQ:G stuff even alludes to it. Just that Argrath is an up and coming major power player after the Prax rebellion.
>>
>>96642878
We saved Kallyr in our game. There’s an official adventure where you go kill cursed ZZ revenant and take a piece of Ernalda’s mirror which grants one use divine intervention, no roll, no POW loss, no question asked.

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop minature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: [YouTube] Kingdom Death: Monster - Prologue (https://youtu.be/FNLc8dHv0Ac)

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

the problem is that when I pitched that to my old group, the DM went "umm no we do it my old fashioned way where everyone sits there bored as we go turn by turn"
and then when I DM'd, that same person went "umm no this is too much for me to understand please do it the lame way instead"

I don't run with that group anymore.

Plastic kits are good, especially the later ones. But I'm going to disagree with the other anon about photoresin. While the details are magnificent, it's absurdly fragile. You might think well that's just the trade off for the convenience of resin printing at such high levels of details. Resins have come a long way and there exists far more flexible materials. But no matter how careful you are something is likely to snap like a thin piece of hair or a sword either in your hands or in transit which happened to my first run Sci-fi Pervical. My Lantern Armor Aya broke in 5 places and 1 of them was from the rest was during the painting. I've had better luck with deathgrey stuff, but at 39usd I better get my moneys worth of miniature tits and ass. If the resin kit comes with a "beta" card, you can just wait for it to come into the plastic eventually. The detail won't be as crisp and you might end up buying a more expensive kit because it might come with a painters scale model, but it'll save you from all the breakage issues.

Maybe it's just my bad luck. And even despite all the bullshit with Aya, that model is still my fav in my painted collection enough to also buy the plastic kit to paint at some point

tl;dr excellent details. fragile material

His Primarch book
>>
>>96616460
The problem with Angron is that Khorne is too one note. Have him act with some actual honor or respect. Maybe have Khorne be the least ‘chaotic’ chaos god, their faction honest in its dealings. Have Angron empower weak humans or their worlds, or aid in starting rebellions against the Imperium. Let him ‘save’ vulnerable worlds only for the inquisition to wipe them out anyway.
>>
>>96616460
Instead of just yoinking him away from his buddies to die, have the Emperor and co arrive above Nuceria too late to save anyone worth saving other than Angron, and judge the planet itself to be beyond hope of redemption. Angron just wants to die with the rest of his brothers and sisters in a final blaze of glory; the Emperor wants to save his son and rescues him via teleporter (he does not deploy Custodes or Marines to the surface because it'd just be a waste of life- or at least ammunition- just to kill a few scumbags in person when Angron can be rescued "cleanly" much more easily for literally no downside).
I'd also make Big E much less cold towards Angron, actively trying to reach out to his son. Perhaps he eventually decides he is a lost cause, but not out of callousness; the realization he cannot save Angron causes him unimaginable grief and pain, the kind that would destroy a lesser man- the fact he has to try and keep going makes him appear heartless to others, when the truth is he cannot afford to be seen as weak when in private, he weeps for his mutilated son..
On Angron's part, there is a rational part of him that understands the Emperor's decision to save him was the right one (or at least done out of good intent), that loves him as a father and wants to keep living so his comrades' deaths were not in vain. Unfortunately the Nails are slowly destroying his brain, and the literal permanent neurological damage combined with the trauma of his life on Nuceria and the grief of his fellow rebels' deaths mean he gradually loses the rational side of himself, until eventually it just doesn't exist anymore; not that he's just a snarling animal, but rather that the part of him that loved his father has been convinced by the Nails it never existed, and his heart has become a vessel for bottomless hatred- of the Emperor, of mankind, and of himself.
TLDR: Keep the self loathing and brain damage but with actual tragedy instead of Big E being rarted and evil.

The Great Hunger Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

I'd go all-in on 1920s decadence (suits, tommy guns, barely-disguised alcohol trade under the guise of giving out red wine) given that the first US Megachurch was born in 1923; you can also go further back and go on the Spiritual Revival in the 1800s that brought about the Mormons

Why did Dungeons and Dragons styled tabletop roleplaying take until the 1970s to invent? I know they had tabletop wargames before that as far back as the 17th century, but what was so hard about making the next step to personalized characters going on adventures with stats?

Die, paper, pens/pencils, figures, etc are all cheap to manufacture. Minor nobility or even knights would have access to all they needed, they could even store stats on a chiseled piece of rock, stack counters as a record, or use an abacus if they were really broke. They had wargaming with figurines way back stretching centuries, but they lacked the imagination to take it a step further with a full adventure?

Is it really an egg of Columbus situation where it's so intuitively obvious when discovered, but hard to actually discover? Or was it just sheer bad luck in that it remained undiscovered for so long?

We've had board games, and parlour games, and improv storytelling, and theater of varying complexity. Kids playing games of pretend and having certain characters they wanted to act as is a somewhat old concept too. However, I don't think there's ever been anything recorded that feels like a definitive, concrete example of a sort of proto-roleplaying game. Murder Mystery dinner games come close, but it still feels like the actual structure and concept of a group of people gathering regularly to collectively play or be guided through an adventure or a narrative premise, or something like that, didn't truly exist until wargames became a thing, and then got closer once Braunstein hit a very small scene.

We've had roleplaying for ages. Medieval tournaments were hosted with Arthurian themes, with entrants costuming themselves and taking on the character of various Arthurian knights, as one example.

Welcome back, revered clerk of the Administratum.
Your efforts in compiling the information on [Vokaris Sector] and its eight subsectors have been received with satisfaction, and thus you are encouraged to continue your holy assignment to collect information about this sector in our grand Imperium.
A brief reminder that as data comes in via the servitors around you, you will have to compile it and make this sector whole again.
May the God Emperor continue to guide you clerk Anon.

Hello there, Anons of /tg/. If anyone is still interested in this fun project, here is the whole sector - updated with the discovered planets so far - where we can continue to create together, using the planet generator found on 1d6chan.

We didn't get any of the funnier results, but it did help add some nuance.

We should do these rolls for the other planets, and also do the defense and adeptus rolls we skipped on certain planets.

Also maybe redo some of the population rolls like >>96642468 suggested.
>>
>>96647951
Did you add the -6 to the d100 rolls due to the planet being at a low imperial tech level?

Chroma run locally with a prompt like: 'a still from a video of a mass of rotting flesh and limbs and organs crawling in front of a dark gas station at night. Motion blur' and the use image to video with klingai with the same prompt minus the part about it being a still. Pretty simple. Other good tricks are 'cctv footage', 'ring doorbell footage', 'camera flash' or 'illuminated by a flashlight'.

You could probably do the video part locally with WAN, but personally my PC shits the bed when it tries to load the text encoder on the CPU. I'm sure there's a better way of doing that.

I can paint white, this is an unfinished WE project I did like 2 years ago or something where I was practicing airbrushing. Never did weather the models, but the paintjob is quite clean.

>bench 350
>play WB, SoH, WE and UM
guess those can combine

anon, airbrushing removed the skill wall to paint white long long ago.

All of these should be Drain (X) where (X) is the number of Game Turns they take to recharge after being fired, during which they may not be used as part of a Shooting Attack including as part of a Reaction.

no thanks, I think it's pretty settled plasma has safe and dangerous, and moreover I despise bookkeeping on weapons in games over like a dozen models
even if I can handle my army and keeping tabs, there's no guarantee my opponent can on his, and games where you have to constantly remind your opponent what they can/can't do- and worst of all, if they misremember something of your army and suddenly feel cheated over it

I like one use gear and abilities, but big games with lots going on is a nightmare to track with reloads
unless it's like a historical and that coordination is a core mechanic of the game, then it's really fun

Well, what's really fucked, is that guy can't take his helmet off, because the planet has a virus that rots you so fast as if you fell into a vat of acid. So, he's dead either way from a painful death, but I suppose being cooked to death from your power armor reactor is slightly faster.

and not just some rules-lite onepage systems

Piracy is retarded when there are so many free games that are just better than everything you can pay for.

Mazes & Minotaurs is great and there is a lot of material beyond the core books in the Minotaur Quarterly.

piracy is extra steps compared to just clicking a download button on drivethrou/itch/official website
but there is more to that though
commercial games often are a victim of business decisions that interfere with design decisions
