Pigheaded Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/They used to be split between the website and the discord, but no more. For posterity's sake, the old mega will still be kept active even if it's unlikely to need updating: https://mega.nz/folder/70QH0BBa#Eg-blxYQKkY_C02wErnFTQ>third party sources for making trenchers:Comment too long. every alive game needs a schizo, glad we have ours already
>>97822207Hard disagree.I dont need to explain this, but you need a playerbase to play a game, not 5 people from different corners of the world saying "this game is cool" and then not playing it and going back to Warhammer because noone is even playing the game. You have lots of games that just come out and then the creator moves on, noone plays those games. This thread belongs on /awg/ with the rest of the games noone plays but simply acknowledge exists, yet dont play. I thought the thing that made TC stand out was that it was actually trying to do things that clawed out of that mire, now youre arguing that it should be there.

>>97822191Sometimes I think about being Cyber-Legolas but I love guns way too much.
>>97822200how did I know I was talking to someone who would bring up linear frames? yeah if you spend a chunk of euro and humanity you get better. combat cyberware makes you good at combat in the cyberpunk game, news at 9. it's hardly minmaxing lol. is this the part where you bring up martial arts + linear frame?
>>97822191>VirginYou need a x2 MA skill and x1 archery to reliably deal 7d6 with specialised ammoVS>ChadGunmart Engage costs 100ebI'm joking anon, dont bite
>>97822215Sure but 2000 eddies and like 28 Humanity is nothing on CC. Keep in mind the corp deal gives you 1500 to spend on Cyberware. It's the single best piece of gear in the game. Lets you DUMP your Body while also maxing it out, massively increasing your survivability and opens the gateway to the strongest combat options in the game. It's the same issue as LAJ and Bullet Dodging, it feels like a mandatory thing you have to pick for your build with little alternative.
>>97821908Oh yeah. It's been so long, I forgot the corebook's layout. That's certainly the first problem anyone will encounter. And even if the core rulebook was actually well edited, because we've had dozens of DLCs, the rules, the bits, it's all scattered without rhyme or reason. Pathfinder's bloat is manageable thanks to the online databases, but R.Tal would never provide anything as handy as Archives of Nethys.>>97822024My problem with the balance is that char-gen characters are impervious to street level enemies unless the PCs have horrendous luck over multiple combat rounds. Sure, you CAN escalate, but then you're no longer at street level. My personal quick-and-dirty fix is LAJ to give -1 penalties, so the bullet dodgers are at Kevlar's 7 SP.Another balance problem is that opportunity cost of NOT making an attack are high enough that other Actions aren't really used unless they're absolutely necessary.I don't have any quick fix for that. I was toying with letting people attack once with a ROF2 weapon and do a minor action like opening doors, but I never got anything concrete.

Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! That said it's more fun to all be on the same page when it comes to setting and tone, so using a game system that is explicitly written to play as vampires for a vampire game just makes the most sense. There are very low odds I would find a group playing a system built for dungeon crawling to convert the whole system to fit everyone being vampires in a modern urban environment.

Welcome to /2eg/, a thread dedicated to all things 2nd Edition D&D related - including settings, lore, modules, and derived systems (Alternity, Buck Rogers XXVc, For Gold and Glory, Hackmaster, Myth and Magic, and more).Since 2e draws heavily from earlier editions, older modules are welcome too. Other media derived from AD&D (such as Infinity Engine video games) also has a home here. It's what you play, not how you play it. RAW or homebrew, as long as your table is having fun, there's no wrong way to play. There's a surprisingly complete 2e fan wiki for rules stuff, it's excellent for quick reference:https://adnd2e.fandom.com/wiki/Advanced_Dungeons_%26_Dragons_2nd_Edition_Wikiad&d 2e archiveaHR0cHM6Ly93ZWIuYXJjaGl2ZS5vcmcvd2ViLzIwMjUwMjA0MTczNzUwL2h0dHBzOi8vdGhlLWV5ZS5ldS9wdWJsaWMvQm9va3MvcnBnLnJlbS51ei9EdW5nZW9ucyUyMCYlMjBEcmFnb25zL0FEJkQlMjAybmQlMjBFZGl0aW9uLw==Remember to keep things civil.Thread Question - why the 2e hate?

>>97821594Not the OP, but I come at this from the other side. I started with 2e and see zero reason to ever use 1e. They are close enough but 2e seems to have cleaned 1e up a bit IMO. I just don't see the 1e appeal

>>97821816> I posted here >>97819768 # about gold for XP and how 2e changed it.Not particularly convincingly, though. >>97821456The earliest visual depicted of the Old Republic era, in the Tales of the Jedi comics, did a good job making it visually distinct from the films and having aesthetics that successfully evoked a kind of "sci-fi ancient history" look. The KOTOR games fucked up the visuals by making everything a copy of the film designs with minor changes (Republic soldiers look like either rebel troopers or clone troopers, Sith have grey triangle warships and not!TIEs, and so on). It also doesn't make much sense chronologically, since the latest period covered by Tales of the Jedi takes place just a few decades before KOTOR 1, so apparently in that time there was a massive change in technology and fashion and then nothing changed for the next several thousand years.

Was there anything at all genuine and fun that you experienced from game companies for April Fools this year? Or was it all just shitty corpo cringe by out of touch boomers trying too hard?I'll admit, 5 years ago I would have loved to watch an Inside the Chieftains Hatch video on the Chimera, but I watched this whole thing and only even lightly chuckled once ("Chimera track durability is perfect because no Chimera has ever outlived its tracks"). I don't think anything about gaming genuinely brings me any happiness anymore. It's all just tiresome and clocked in layers of redundant irony and mostly just conjures up regrets about how much more fun games used to be, instead of imagination or anticipation of games to come.Anyway, I'll share the video.
