If the Salamanders are the nicest Loyal chapter who is the nicest Traitor chapter? Who causes the least problems when they invade?
>>97834347An invasion is a pretty big problem. Also note that Traitors don't have chapters, they have warbands, which are almost infinitely less organized and usually consist of whoever the hell the man in charge can bludgeon into following him.If I had to make a guess, though, I'd say a very particular type of Word Bearer, one which lands on-planet, conveniently fails to mention his treasonous behavior or attitude toward the Emperor, and basks in the adulation of the local populace that one of the Emperor's Angels has arrived. They will then slowly convert the populace and undermine authorities, or convert the authorities and sacrifice the populace, or whatever the hell they decide to do with a planet. Probably try to fortify it against Imperial forces, likely as a staging point for future actions. All of these possibilities do still count as problems, though. That kind of comes with being invaded.
>>97834347Maybe Alpha Legion? Their usual tactics involve a single squad to infiltrate a planet and then begin a cult. This is only nice in the sense that it's on a much longer scale and starts out much smaller. By the time the cults in full swing though, all hell is breaking loose and all manner of sacrifice and debauchery is being carried out in the name of Chaos.

Been thinking a lot about this>So the warp, as the realm of souls, originally was a creation of the old ones as a weapon against the necrontyr in the war of heaven. It allowed not only a means for the Aeldari and Krorks to use psychic powers, but also cheat death and allow them to respawn infinitely. >But after the war in heaven the warp is destabilized due to the negative emotions, death, and general usage. There's no more old ones to fix it either.>Now the "warp" sends those same negative emotions at the Aeldari who in turn start going crazy. They start doing their murder orgies, but it's not really fair to blame them as they are influenced by the warp. The same thing is known to happen to human psykers as well. The warp make psykers, especially untrained ones, crazy and emotional. In long terms it uses them to gain more power and access to realspace. REMEMBER THIS.>This creates a feedback loop where the the negative emotions make the mortals crazy and in turn have the negative emotions to fuel the warp. Ultimately resulting in slaanesh. khorne nurgle and tzeentch are likely started in the war in heaven, but finished during humanity's early era when human psykers start showing up.Con
I bring all of this up because when you factor in the Emperor's ultimate plan of "unlocking humanity's psychic potential" Holy fuck no! Being a psyker has obvious strengths, but apparently not so obvious weaknesses. Making all of humanity psykers is going to stir the warp up and drive the populace insane. It doesn't help that this same guy is also>culling his own kind for not agreeing with him.>making bargains with the same force he's supposed to be against.>giving radio silence to anyone about the warp. The ONE thing that might at least stave back the side effects of warp usage. Craftworlders have mental training and disciplined lifestyles and they're some of the best psykers (though it's not a foolproof strategy) Bare minimum start killing anyone caught using the warp (Ironically the inquisition that everyone hates is better at ruling the imperium than the fucking emperor.)NO!Instead of doing anything to actually fight chaos, he kills a bunch of humans for calling him a faggot, kills a bunch of aliens, and then fucks off to work on a webway portal. Y'know that thing that was broken and contaminated by deamons when the Aeldari fell? To avoid the deamons encountered in warptravel? When does this make sense? When does his actions actually benefit humanity that's not himself? People chalk this up to "Daddy issues", but there wasn't a need for primarchs in the first place! You didn't need super-generals for what the great crusade accomplished. There was no need to go that fast besides the obvious advantage of your enemies have it hard strategizing against you.Even without Erebus, Horus, Lorgar or any of the other characters that supposedly """"ruined everything""""" His idea was doomed to fail. Why? Because like EVERY chaos worshiper>He saw the immaterium>He failed to understand it.>He tries to use it anyway because it's just a weapon to him.>It blows up in his face.Comment too long. >>97832172Chaos and the heresy weren't even a part of the game when the emperor's goal was to guide human evolution, there were just the enslavers. At any rate I think you're trying to overly analyze a setting that doesn't make sense and also you should delete this post and post it in /40kg/.

Recently I found some Humanity Fuck Yeah YouTube videos that use AI voice narration on my feed. After using them as background noise while cleaning my apartment I found that that most of them are more or less the same. Humans are the only ones who know how to fight/love sex/survive/etc. How can we save the genre or reinvent it so it isn't so stale?
>>97834230>>97834231>>97834236For most of human history there was an understanding that it was better to die for a just cause than it is to live in obedience to an unjust one. Avatar is meant to be one of those stories... kind of like that movie about the American Indians that's oddly similar to Avatar. I think the existential angle they added about human extinction undermines the narrative because you have people hyper fixating on that one specific aspect of the worldbuilding and flattening their engagement with the rest of the story. We are also only told that humanity needs the resources on Pandora by the company invested in harvesting those resources. Apply your critical thinking faculties to that.
>>97834214that entire post in turn is repeated "Why didn't he do X?", which is still not criticism of the actions he actually took, but rather armchair strategizingit is ironic you should decry his character, considering you sound impatient and emotional yourself
>>97834251>We are also only told that humanity needs the resources on Pandora by the company invested in harvesting those resources.I am pretty sure there is a lot of extra material that confirm that it wasn't just a giant psyop. Let me try to check on the wikiHoly fucking fuck. >The article starts saying that Unobtanium is a rare earth compound that has the position 120 on the periodic table>Everything only goes more retarded beyond thatOok, I can't fault you for ignoring extra material
>>97834282You expect a person who's an experienced hand in their field, to know basic things about their field. One of which for anything combat-related, is that recon and intelligence is really fucking important if you want to win.Tough shit if you don't like it, but given what we know of Qualrich and his actions, he was deliberately taking the dumbest and most mission-destructive actions he could, fucking himself over in the process, so he could RP as a 'Nam GI.Cry about it as much as you want. Write a gay fanfic of him if you want to. But he consistently makes and takes the worst possible choices he could, as a commander, for almost all the first movie.

Right. They could GM themselves if they gave a fuck, but they don't, so they have no right to complain. That's what happens when you willingly give up your agency.
>>97833549So you failed as a GM?
>>97834419That would imply an attempt. Also, I think OP was being in-character with his pic-related.

>>97821093retard.
>>97801119Maybe not the craziest take, but Night Floors is one of the most overhyped, dogshit scenarios I've ever read. It's just a bunch of fucking cut scenes with zero stakes and no way for your player agents to effect anything or really do anything in the scenario at all. Denis Detwiler is a decent horror writer but he's one of the worst scenario writers in the field today, which is something impressive. If writing shitty scenarios was a piano, he would be a bold and uncompromising talent.
>>97833615Meh. Good in theory, in practice most players will get frustrated if you don't give them a specific course of action. You can and should let them deviate, but it does require an intended method to exist, at least, which requires writing from your part.

Gearhead thread but for /tg/Part of why I like to play ttrpg's is the analog aspect. I prefer to keep all digital things out of the experience. No laptops, ipads, phones at the table. Well, an exception can be made for googling something quick, but other than that, keep that shit in your pocket.I like to do my gm prep, world building, drawing maps, in notebooks. npc and character sheets etc.on paper.I really like MUJI stationery. Their notebooks are really nice, and their pens and pencils are amazing.I recently found some hex paper notebooks on amazon. That was really nice to use to draw some hex maps.Do you have any neat stationery or other analog "gear" that you really like? Could you share some of your cool items or showcase your note taking system or maps or whatever?

My precious is this ghetto laminated hex sheet, held together with tape, that one of my players made during work hours. Can't run megadungeons on it but for the vast majority of GURPS melee combat it's sufficient
>>97812648I'm in America. When it comes to stationary, Japanese products are infinitely better than anything that can be acquired in the states. German products are also quite good.
>>97834713It's France and Italy too, but yeah. Continental Europe and Japan are the two famous regions for fine pens, inks and paper. The Clairefontaine mill produces Rhodia and Clairefontaine. The Tomoegawa mill used to produce Tomoe River but they got bought a few years ago and everyone lost their minds. Pelikan, Montblanc and Lamy are German. Visconti and Pineider are Italian. Pilot, Platinum and Sailor are all Japan. And then for ink brands Jacques Herbin has been in business since 1670.

>>97797528As anon said, great britain society only works if you go for dark fantasyHuman rights wise it was the worst place in Europe and often very backwards(very ironic because politic system wise they actually did pretty well and reformed system for it to work, but maybe because they were first to have something like Hanover-Stuart Wars). Only feudal japan can really compete with them in being a shithole
>>97816048just straight up steal them from 3.5 whole sale.Check out the wizard/sorcerer alternative class features (acf) as well as reserve feats
>>97830897Two things you have to understand is that social conformity is a form of survival instinct and that all the beliefs you describe are fundamentally reactionary. The more a society struggles with it's survival, the less material they have, the more conformist their views are.Look at how tribes in the amazon or deep in Africa work for example. The social cohesion is immense despite rigid social hierarchies and organisations. Obviously this reverberated in the ancient world as well. The direct greek democracies were exactly a product of this social cohesion and possible precisely because of it for example.Coming back to the post 15th century world, the origin of the middle class is with the city dwellers. It was the people between the peasantry and the elite/nobility. Obviously in the post renaissance world of western europe this class started to grow and eventually outgrew it's previous constraints. At the same time they outgrew their strict survival needs. So you have a class of people that along with their very conservative, uneducated worldviews tries in an extremely reactionary way to maintain that social unity and cohesion lost but the ample quantity of resources available to them.Nothing sped this process as much as industrialization in modern human history and no place was it more prevalent than Britain. Interestingly the elite/nobility adapted much better than the purported middle class to such changes. Both in changing their worldview and by creating and socially enforcing a strict regiment of living and forced proximity through boarding schools, social clubs, social centers like courts. The most famous one being Versailles of course but the same was true for London just in a less extravagant french way. This eventually led to the creation of a very closed circle and complete lack of proximity to the actual people of the country led to the elite being incredibly unaware of the true conditions of the low classes with all it's consequences
>>97832523one pet peeve about country roads with grass in the middle. This is entirely anachronistic and a product of modernity. The center of the road was always the most well tread part of the road both by beasts of burden, horses pulling carriages and by people walking there. The nature would always encroach on the world from the sides and slowly diminish it if it was under less use than what it was originally constructed for.If you have ever walked a mountain path you will know what i am talking about.Btw mediterranean fantasy is pure kino and much superior to the generic northern european fantasy
>>97834348>great britain society only works if you go for dark fantasyThousands of books in dozens of other genera begs to differ.
