What’s your local like /ktg/? This is reminding me why I just play at home with my wife or alone. I genuinely cannot enter the mindspace of people who want to play this game like it’s a sport. It feels like an e-sport rather than a game this way. The same emptiness I get when I see starcraft or aoe4 played competitively.

The only store near me is full of obnoxious insufferable autists so I've only played there once. I could tell early on I was gonna despise them so I made sure to lie about not living anywhere near there and when I'm getting something at the store it's just because I'm "in the area visiting my family"

The scouting phase was cool and unique, the game is worse without it. People who complained are the ones who complain about the game not having lists or not being like the older versions of the game.
That people don't play the game and are unable to understand why the game is nice now.

Welcome to /wbg/, the thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art. Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have, cunt!

The issue is less in them getting strong and more in the fact they're already strong. Chattel slavery works when they're all roughly the same size as you and can be coerced into obedience with whips, guns, etc. However I'd imagine it gets a little more difficult when the slaves in question are all around 8 feet tall and 600 pounds of muscle. Unless you have equally big overseers, I'm not sure how long you could keep something like a group of minotaurs obedient before they decide to snap their owner/overseer in half like a twig.

Working on a bronze age setting. Mythological and ahistorical, but grounded-ish around 1200bce. Here's my map so far. Naming the campaign "The Wine Dark Sea" and yes, because of Eric Cline. Roughly based on Anaximander's and Hecataeus' maps (yes from 500bce so way later). So no: it's not important that the geography is wildly incorrect. It's supposed to be.

Any feedback?

I suppose that's fair, but what else could they do, it being set in V5 and all? Hamfist you helping the Thinbloods even harder, which I had to go well out of my way not to do and still got catastrophically blueballed until the SI killed the lot of them?
>>
>>97187064
Can't you just not include the SI as a plot hook, or is there evidence forces everyone making a vampire game to include them?
>>
>>97187064
You bring up a great point but when they have the setting to make a great Noir story and don't, I can only call it like it is. Avallone's pitch is some gay shit but it beats what we got
>Tremere antitribu surprise villain
>Best girl mind raped and dead
>Fat bastard cucking us from behind the grave
>>
>>97187097
>Paradox mandates you must use V5 for a Vampire game or base your game around V5 if unreleased
It would take some extreme corporate politics bullshit to not include the SI under Paradox's oversight

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Yes, the general being infested by this retarded 2efag has unfortunately drawn down the quality desperately.
>>
>>97187042
A /2eg/ has been tried several times and simply cannot get traction because literally nobody cares about 2e. Including the guy continuously shitposting it in our general.
>>
>>97187058
No, this would be a "Is 2e OSR" general, not a 2eG. What you don't realize is you are part of the problem. You, the guy you're talking about, and everyone else that insists on ruining this thread will be segregated there so you can argue to your hearts content.
>>
>>97187042
There's no debate on whether or not it's osr, the problem is that the people who want to post it here don't respect the fact that the thread has decided it's off topic, and they refuse to either make a new thread, or actually just discuss the game in this one.
They would rather create a war over how they aren't being catered to.
>>
>>97187042
They never really go anywhere. Not even because of the trolling, although all 2nd ed fags will claim this. There's just not that much to run with besides art vibes from settings no one uses anymore. Certainly not enough to sustain a general.
>>97186989
The ratio has been steadily worse since 2017. Really took a nosedive around 2020-2022 and not being able to post pdfs sure doesn't help.
Some of it is the passing of a fad, which is fine, the OSR was hip for longer than the era it focuses on at this point. You can only get so much out of a trend. This isn't to say its dead or whatever, but that to continue it, games must be played and discussed rather than the subculture(s) itself.

>if that is true /wip/ is singlehandedly driving up eBay prices
That's *mostly* true.

Johnny is unusual in that he was only available in blisters or individually via mail order - so he's not "limited edition" or "unreleased" - but because he's absent from the Blue Catalogue circa 1990, completionist collectors might not have ever known they were missing him until he was no longer available from Citadel. I suspect this rarity is also at least partly responsible for the prices.

By contrast, Brother Sheer also only appears in mail order inserts and White Dwarf adverts. However, he was one of the models you got duplicates of if you bought a Rogue Trader-era Tactical Squad. Consequently, while he's not in the Blue Catalogue either, he is nonetheless fairly ubiquitous.

/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :

>All Attacks during the charge turn get +1str
The Charge Attack itself has +1str, that's all.
>First, it has to charge
Only if it has 1AP. It could Move then Attack (although this is rarely worth doing).
>don't get Charge bonus if already adjacent
Rather, you can't Charge. "Charge" is an "Action".
>Disengage
Again, an "Action", rather than just a term for something you do. I'd put it like

"To move away from an Engaging model, an Engaged model take the Disengage Action(, which stipulates...)"

A model can not Move away from a model you are Engaged with, so in order for the Reclaimer to reach a hex out of the Privet's Melee Range, it must preform the Disengage Action: A model preforming a Disengage ignores Engagement, and must move up to it's movement in hexes away from a model that was Engaging it. Think of the Actions like coupons that you buy using AP, that are then automatically redeemed, which results in a certain effect. "Disengage (Reclaimer 1) [3 in the direction of 6]" costs 2 AP (Reclaimer 1) which can only be accessed if he is the active model. That Disengage is then immediately automatically redeemed, resulting in Reclaimer 1 moving 3 in the direction of 6-on-a-scatter.

A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
