New picture of the Starcraft Miniatures Game from Archon Studios. These miniatures look sick, and I'm definitely feeling the hype for the game. They're attending Essen Spiel this month, the first day is tomorrow and it continues onto the 8th. I'm hoping we'll see some more miniatures and hopefully some gameplay so that we can get a better grasp on what we're looking at.
>>96679418>Blizzard made official Starcraft minis before you remembered you wanted to make that Starcraft Marine meganob conversion.Shit!
>>96685950I wouldn't mind owning a couple just to have or to use as proxies. I'd love some high quality Warcraft models
>>96679289>These miniatures look sick, and I'm definitely feeling the hype for the game. You sound like a shameless shill. They clearly went with the cartoony colorful warcraftish aesthetic of SC2 which sucks, because SC1 aesthetic was far superior, especially in the case of the Zerg. They were creepy killer locusts from space, not a bunch of goofy fart bugs. SC2 got marvelslopped and completely lost the horror vibes. And don't even get me started on the noble savage good boy dino world Primal Zerg, that was pure cringe.
>>96679289Looks cool,Can't wait to use pirated stl's as proxies for my Tyranids.Hope this game doesn't die
>>96686435>Hope this game doesn't dieI fully expect they'll seize whatever opportunity GW's green gives them by brutally killing themselves.
Share your fav artwork of them, talk about how they've been used in your settings, and just post your overall views on them and what you like to see out of them.Personally, I always love when they're like a home away from home for Adventurers. Grab a bite, warm up by the fireplace with some mead, swap tales with a fellow daredevil risking their life for coin, etc. Like not merely a building to manage quest paperwork, but a cozy place with it's own culture and ceremony.
>>96675752Yeah I remember somebody a few years ago saying something similar to that. Their adventure guilds were secretly just a method of population control, like the super dangerous dungeons with alleged treasure at the bottom were actually created by the guild themselves.
>>96649239Plus lots of guilds tend to also sell food, weapons, a room for the night, etc.
>>96654942That sounds like a DCC character funnel with free ID cards, and I love it.
>>96645468The more I look at SWN the more I get the sort of D&D feel and want to do it with the sci-fi curtains on.
>>96645468I think it would be cool for regional adventurer guilds to be a thing, instead of just one big ass adventurer guild connected for every place you'd have different regional guilds situated within regions, cities and territories with their own traditions, laws, and how they'd actually work etc. Some are actual "peace" guilds like in real life, Urban militia types, i forgot which city but in Germany you'd have crossbowman guilds etc. Some are like the Pinkerton Detective Agency (actually i was writing something about this) descended from an even older iteration, with a charter signed by the realm's emperor itself before the empire fell, fell into ruin before being properly re-kindled by the new state that runs the place. Others are like drinking clubs actually and random meeting places where you can find a lot of mercenary captains and shitm idk.

Having a hard time deciding between starting Tomb Kings and Orcs
So we all know we are supposed to hate DnD and its derivates here but it's the game people are familiar with and therefore the one you can actually find someone to play with you. So my question goes: what edition or game is the best (or least shit if that suits you best) among DnD and its derivates? 3.5e? AD&D? Pathfinder?
>>96683844>and therefore the one you can actually find someone to play withWrong. People will play whatever the GM wants to play.If the GM wants to play vampire, star wars or even gurps, that's what the players will play. The only people who think they can only play what is popular are people too lazy to GM.

>>96684780>avoided the context that WotC built the 4e rules system for an actual MMO that got shitcanned in developmentIn all the years I've played and talked about 4e from release, I have never heard this. Are you confusing the custom-built tie-in VTT they were working on and which got shitcanned because of the murder suicide and poor documentation for a supposed MMO?Because this is some weird ass new evolution in anti-4e arguments. You people are so desperate to somehow tie 4e to MMOs with an implicit badness that I really don't understand. 4e is quite literally the only edition that has never had an actual game tied to its rules.

I think Trazyn's irreverent, Deadpool-esque personality works perfectly in the context of what he is. People hate him for being immersion-breaking and fucking up the tone of the setting, but given that as one of the few high-level Necrons who's still more or less in complete possession of all his faculties, he's so powerful he can actually afford not to take things seriously. Him and the Orks both work as comic relief from different angles. The orks because they're so absurdly violent that they're perfectly adapted to a hostile universe, Trazyn because he's so absurdly powerful that the universe is profoundly inadequate to him.
>>96683565The Severed Worlds, Dynasties, and Severed Empire are also a great threat to the crons that GW is to retarded to leverage. As the eons pass the chances of each sleeping tomb getting fucked up in some fashion and either never waking or waking up severed grow towards absolute certainty. And in the case of the Empire they actively *sever more necrons* when ever they get the chance. It all plays well into the self-destructive and self-sabotaging tendencies of the Necrons. They hold themselves back but not in a cute or contrived way. Much like the eldar it's in a poetic, 'cautionary tale' sort of way.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! >>96681793Sure. As it is, with their poor industrial base and economy, Carlist Spain would struggle mightily to control an agarthan territory. I can see them depending on France for the building of the infrastructure needed to connect the two layers, as well as for the general infrastructure (especially railways, since french companies built most of the Spanish railways during the 19th century in the original timeline anyway). And at the same time, if France ever has enough resouces and interests to expand through that area, the Spanish can't just say no to using the entrance. It would be something akin to the actual Franco-Spanish intervention in Vietnam, where both nations went to Vietnam, but the french's political manouvers made it so that they kept Vietnam for themselves and gave Spain a pittance in finantial compensation for the effort.TL,DR: France would get Spain to pay for the brunt of the effort, while also guaranteeing their access to the entrance if they ever want to.

How would your character feel if they hadn't been able to use the wheel this morning?
>>96685189I mean, you still could, maybe. Turns out, those wheels were so obnoxiously tedious to transport (which was the original reason they were even used as currency) that at some point they just stopped physically moving the objects and instead began keeping track of who supposedly owned each one. There's been some that have been overgrown by corals where they fell into the sea and they haven't been moved in ages but they were keeping score of who owned the theoretical object in a chain of transactions.Yes.
