Post actual gamesI hadn't had a game in a while, hoping to get one in next weekend, but this was the latest game I had.Beastmen vs Khrone warriors of Chaos in the mountain pass mission. It kinda sucked since my ambush was limited, in the end I lost the game not like that was problem, it was a fun match with a great little narrative being made as well for our dudes.

Kobold thread. Discuss all kobold-related things here. Bonus points for game stories!Pic related: the kobold thieves' guild boss my players have been carefully negotiating with (and might have to fight)
say something nice about her
>>96686807it's okay to be flat.
>>96686789Add dragon blood to elemental infusion process if you don't wanna narratively make them golems. For inspiration for other elemental kobolds I recommend German folktales about them. You can even use Kalfater, a ginger water kobold with green teeth that smokes and appears to sailors before tragedy. Just add fish scales or mollusk mucus and you have a fleshed out monster.
>>96681791Of course, hiveminds are pretty much bullshit anyway.
I love furbolds.
How would you give each of these magic foci a unique trait like the differences between a sword, axe, and club?
>>96669652Not OP, but why 4e specifically? I mean, it’s better than 5e, obviously lol, but still.
>>96683547I'd like to know as well please.
>>96669621What about other focus items like rings, talismans, gauntlets, or circlets, etc.? For instance maybe with rings they might be weaker/specialized but you can more easily use multiple rings at once and it’s harder to disarm you? Or maybe they can link wearers together.
>>96669621The length of the foci acts as a range multiplier for the caster. Think it being equivalent to an antenna, or the barrel of a gun: the further away you are trying to project your power, the bigger you needA handheld thing like an orb or a crystal is fine if you are casting a spell that only affects yourself, or something you can physically touch. Healing magic, various kinds of charms and buffs, that sort of thing. Such a simple foci has the advantage of being small and easy to carry, so there's rarely an excuse not to have one of them on hand just because it fits in a pocket easy even if it can't do everything. nobody wants to have to go all the way back upstairs to fetch their staff just to cast a cantripWands are lightweight, short range spell tools. They usually top out at 10 or 15 feet, which is enough to handle most situations but if you need to do long range stuff it won't do the trickRods are, essentially, heavier wands and thus get a lot of different purposes lumped together under one general category. Some rods are actually designed for slightly longer range work than normal, some rods are literally just wands that have been reinforced so that you can smack people with them without breaking it. If you are trying to customize or supe-up your wand, it probably counts as a rod. As a result while basic wands are largely interchangeable in effect even if they look different to each other, rods have a lot of mechanical varianceStaffs are the heavy duty magic caster tools, able to swing magic for a long ways away. They are the high end real deal, and as a result wizards with a staff are treated with the same caution or mistrust as you would have for someone who is walking around town carrying a rifle. Even if its legal, you probably think that guy is a dangerous loon. Staffs have the downsides of being obvious, cumbersome, and more difficult to aim at short distances where precision matters, though if you are doing AoE magic that doesn't matter
>>96669621Wait, if magic requires a focus item to use, how to people discover magic in the first place?
I don't mean urban fantasy, I mean high fantasy settings that have progressed to a state roughly analogous to modern society.Wizzas dealing scrolls in back alleys, paladins cracking down on black magic users, so on and so forth. I feel like there's a lot of room there to run a fun campaign.
>>96692678no, nobody here wants cyberpunk but with magic in it. otherwise op would have asked for cyberpunk. cyberpunk contains a bunch of tropes that are unrelated to modern fantasy and take the focus away from it's core ideas.
>>96693480That has nothing to do with whether or not Shadowrun is an example of exactly what OP explicitly, specifically asked for. Which it is.
>>96691668I couldn’t tell you why, because I’ve caressed the idea of creating a game with that setting, for a long while.Inspired by this illustration. It was roughly our world (so, no made up kingdoms and such) but magic is real and existed right in the open since forever. But fantasy tropes evolved to blend into modern life, so for example:>Vampires were some sort of mix between AIDS and weird Hollywood rejuvenating techniques>Forbidden and a bit shameful, but there’s a few celebrities which are suspected to have caught vampirism>Magic has mostly been replaced by technology, which is much more scalable, but mages still whispers in the ears of heads of states and powerful CEOs>Fantasy races have nearly disappeared due to intermarriage, but lots of people are proudly claiming a smudge of elvish ancestry.Stuff like that. Then Bright came out and… eh… it wasn’t virgin territory anymore.Still think it could be very fun.
>>96691668Wasn’t there that one cartoon called Mysticons that was basically this?
>>96692017>>96692130Objection:Magic could very well a type of mental ability, channeled through symbols. Therefore you can’t produce magical effects without a trained adept, possibly one with innate abilities. Therefore it’s not something you can mass-produce.So, sure, if you are a powerful magic user you can produce a grenade out of your sheer willpower. But, guess what? I can pack ten of these and use the time I didn’t waste in the magical academy, to learn how to use a gun instead.History is full of technologies which were worse than what they replaced, at least initially, but won just by the virtue of being possible to mass produce and/or be used with much less training.Magic users will still have their use, of course. I mean who doesn’t want a tactical wizard in their squad?
I've decided to decease my internet time and blue light exposure, buy an ebook reader, and get used to finishing the day with some reading, instead of all the other things that give me insomnia. What /tg/-related books have you been reading anon, or what you think what other people should read too? I've read Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit before I knew what the hell ttrpgs even were. Same with the original Dragonlance books. I was thinking of picking up Elric of Melnibone and Original Conan the Barbarian. Already read and enjoyed Eisenhorn, most of the Slayer books with Gotrek, first 1.5 of the Black Company books. And dear god I haven't read books for fun in so long, what have I been doing?
OP you can read my novel when I finosh editing it, the first draft is 130k words so you won't be seeing it for a while.
>>96603000What about writing /tg/ related content yourself, what must one remember when doing so?
>>96603000I’m writing one. I’ve been working on it for just under a year. It’s about a 15th century witch hunter during the 100 Years War.Writing a novel is hard. Like, really hard. I’m in the home stretch, and I’m hoping to publish it. Wish me luck.

>>96693964ISDs with blue paint are reserved for outer rim New Republic loyalists, same way Munificents with skulls on them are for crime syndicates
>>96693964Very few ships in the OT on either side appear to be painted, unless the Imperial ships are painted gray/white. Paint seems limited to stripe markings on Rebel fighters and CR90s. Capital ships are mostly the same color as the Imperial ones, but a little more patched-looking with panels sometimes being darker or lighter rather than a consistent gray.Regarding the New Republic Navy, I thought the old EU material struck a good cord on that. The New Republic is a replacement Empire in denial about its nature. They keep using mostly the same stuff the Rebel Alliance did (along with captured equipment), but more of it and focused on the best parts. This makes sense from both a political and technological perspective. The newer designs are probably good for at least a generation based on inferred setting tech lifecycles (Clone Wars equipment is still useful in the GCW, even if somewhat dated, and that's with the Empire sinking tons of credits into development the whole time). Holding on to Rebel designs emphasizes the NR's need to send the message that they aren't just a competing version of what the Empire was trying to do (even if they kind of are). Also, they're likely to not be in a good financial position to embark on big weapons development and production programs for a long time after taking over, even if they want to.Your image is basically an MC-80 spliced with a Nebulon B, which is fine if you're going for different but not too different. It follows the "engine with fairings" design pattern I mentioned, perhaps with more emphasis on bilateral symmetry than a lot of ships (only one side is pictured, though, so maybe not). The big starbird marking is divergent from anything I remember from any capital ships in the OT movies, regardless of faction. The stripe fits what we see on fighters and CR90s, though.
>>96692341They look more like starfighters than like capital ships. Like the original "Star Destroyers" from the initial designs, which were starfighters.>>96692843Nothing in this designs implies weapon stations in any place than the central line, so at best this is the broadside typical of Star Destroyers and the central ridge.Just like the green bolts are coming from the bottom back on the Republic ship. There is no apparent benefit from Palleaon having the pyramid shape on the superstructure.>>96693440Rebel/New Republic aligned Mon Cal have ship design reminiscent of more surface-level aquatic creatures. Separatist aligned Quarren have ship design that indicates deep-sea creatures, and makes them look far more aggressive than highly modified luxury liners that Mon Cal used in Rebellion.Remember, this isn't 100% human Earth, but a galaxy of many races and their design philosophies would be affected by their natural environment.
>>96691395Third personality for sure. Just keep adding new ones until he becomes a complete schizo, then make all his personalities engage in a battle royale and have the most interesting one take over and suppress the others.
>>96692843You have only described a Star Destroyer, nothing about the pelly-un is unique except looking lamer than usual.
Been thinking of painting up a small force of SoB and didn't see a thread so post your thoughts on them, questions, lore and in particular your battling sisters! Especially if you got some OC minor orders. Bonus points for using colors other than white, black, red, gold and gunmetal.

How is that even slightly retarded? If the Emperor didn't want this dude to die He wouldn't have put him behind the wheel of a tank fighting for the heretic forces.
