Got a sweet deal on characters, got Kharn, Angron, axe praetor, apothecary, chainfist cataphractii dude, cataphractii dude summoning a bloodletter, Evander Garrius, three JP dudes and one on foot. All that plus 10 despoilers converted out of 40k zerkers for $40.
The only problem is that I was planning on going IF. I guess Garrus is there and one dead IF on Angron's base, lol.

We need to bring back old school sword and sorcery, pulp, heavy metal fantasy. I want barbarians with oversized axes, chainmail bikinis, grotesque monsters, and that whole mix of bloody violence and sex appeal. Zoomers would absolutely love that stuff if they were actually exposed to it.

>if you're a Lankhmar fan then you would probably allow small amounts of magic like cantrips and such.
I was going to say this, Lankhmar and other S&S stories admit of the protagonists using minor magical spells or rituals (Kane and Elric are both powerful sorcerers but neither is a central example of the genre), so it should it should be an option for the PCs to have access to minor magic. It's probably best reserved for one character in the group, though, and shouldn't be thought of as a core element of character choice like it is in most fantasy games. Instead it should be weighted so the norm is that nobody has it.
>>
>>96827937
>best reserved for one character in the group
Agreed. I always liked what The Black Company did in regards to magic. Most units in the army have one or two spellcasters, but they have incredibly minor magical abilities.
>Silent: Can manipulate insects, weak cloaking ability.
>One-Eye: illusions, can protect tooth enamel.
>Goblin: advanced age, sleep spell.
It can also be a matter of scale. Like a true villainous sorcerer in S&S isn't just going around casting invisible knickers - they're consorting with otherworldly entities in centuries-long rituals to change the fabric of reality. There isn't a spell entry in the DMG for whatever heinous shit they're doing. But the underlying factor is that, as a man, they're weak to swords, no matter their power.

Natural Sexuality needs to win, otherwise we are doomed. Literally.

Another thing:
One thing that would be cool would be the idea of Black Men -not- as sexual ravagers.
Africanos with a paladins code, or even (LOL) a sexual idea of racial purity would be
so out of left field in 2025 that it would auto-win if done right.

First time I see someone claim that Incal and it's putrid legacy would have any influence on 40k. I always heard of Drew's, Stronium Dog, Nemesis the Warlock and Rogue Trooper (the last one probably the most as the classic Beakie marines were lifted designs of Souther troops from RT). I co-ran one once.
A handful of features.

>Women are genetically altered as part of a standard medical procedure beginning by age 8.
>For brievity, think female Astartes. The sexy kind, not the super-duper roided kind. But with extra organs, stronger bones, muscles, tendons, less need for sleep, trainable neuroplasticity, etc.
>This process can't be replicated in men, because the boarderline mad scientist who made it several generations ago as a magnum opus was a raging misandrist and specifically wanted to depower men. Modern people generally don't know this though.
>Officially, it just doesn't work on men, and R&D is being done to make an equivalent for men, but research is ongoing.
>Unofficially, it's been blocked from high up, because none of the people in power, or most women, wanted men to upset that balance.

>Women naturally outcompeted men due to being able to spend more time studying, and being better able to do so, so boys collages and university courses moved away from academia to a sort of 'finishing/etiquette/home econ' thing.
>A lot actually, around handling women, as the procedure also raised aggression and competitiveness, reduced inhibitions, and of course, put women into positions of physical authority, where they weren't at risk of being physically or sexually assaulted for being too daring.
>Similarly, beauty standards for men changed. Strength and resourcefulness being more female traits, softness, tenderness, emotional openness (to assuage the burning emotional heats a woman might get) and general dependency on their partner, were more socially desirable traits.
>Some cultures even preferred chubby, or even obese men. A mix of more dependent, less personally able, and being padded to better handle a woman's greater strength.
>Similar thing with clothes.

You left out how Critical Role lured in theater kids and normies in 2017-19 as heavily as it did. Or how WizBro shat the bed by trying to turn D&D into a lifestyle brand, then attempting to pull the OGL. The normies didn't care so much about that, but the most entrenched and aware players did - and they're most of the DMs out there. And even before that blunder, WotC had made not of how bad 5E was at on-boarding DMs.

I'd say the biggest problem with 5.5/2024e is its even less of an iteration than 3.5 was, so most players didn't see any reason to purchase it and just kept playing with their 5E PHB + Tasha's.

Why chess is so poorly monetized?
>>
A while ago, I was brainstorming for variant pieces for a chess-themed RPG I wanted to make, called "Caissa's Crusaders". I've only really gotten as far as drawing up the piece graphics and most of the movesets for each piece, but here's what I have so far.

The pieces near the top are the newest ones (everything from the Pig upward), and I haven't quite decided on movesets for them yet. If there's interest, I'll post my spreadsheet with what I have so far.

2.) Player 1 responds by invoking "Information's" effect, to try and Transmute (brick) another Entity in Player 2's Hand.

3.) Player 2 then responds by Projecting the Energy that P1 created in their Hand. Player 1 sees that there are no other Entities in Player 2's Hand to be Transmuted, so they only gain hand knowledge.

picrel the board state after this Thread resolves.
>>
>>96687834

>Like pre-MTG10 rules update, Directly Influencing (attacking) DOES use the Thread (stack)

Update/clarification/revision:

Combat / Direct Influences DO use the Thread, however each Direct Influence must be an independent Thread.

General gameplay will not notice an issue, but for advanced gameplay when adding non-combat effects to combat operations, it makes it so Turn Player can't always get all of their attacks off, no matter the level of disruption or removal from the other player.

This basically just means each attack has an independent Thread, which must fully resolve until the next attack (Direct Influence) can be declared.

I'll show the reason for this in Player 2's combat phase.

I remember playing 1e back in the day and wondered if 2nd edition is worth anything?

I don't get how, in a world sacrificing ten doves to Bophades will help you get good business, Christianity managed to be the top religion in Europe and Colonialism even happened. Because I think in Darkest Africa and North America the tribals would be sacrificing to their gods, who are real and exist and have power to fuck shit up, and I don't think you're going to do shit to even a weak god with a black powder weapon. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit aren't real, as far as I understand, and if they are they aren't the top dogs the Bible makes them out to be. And even before that, why give up Zeus and Bophades or Odin and Thor for the fake news that is Jesus?
>>
>>96806042
Trinity and all the SPU stuff. Not that they're perfect, but at least they have clear rules. Scion's rules are vague and self contradictory in a way that all later storypath games took efforts to avoid, especially the SPU stuff.
>>
>>96749470
How baked is the setting into the game? Would you recommend it for an American Gods type of thing? Specially with the New Gods.
>>
>>96827931
In 1e it was explicitly that the gods left the world to avoid getting bound by fate they existed at different times in history, but when they broke history destroying Atlantis they all retroactively left. 2e is way more handwavey about it, basically asking you to accept it so they can have their pseudo-masquerade. Not sure why they made that choice, when it would have been just as easy to say, "the gods are removed from the world as a whole, but individual incarnations and other supernatural entities pop down now and again."
>>
>>96828156
1e's Fatebinding made a certain kind of sense although it seemed very clearly a load-bearing conceit to explain why the world could look so much like our own but still have its supernatural cake and eat it too. I get that, fair enough: Bophades didn't want to get tied down to your shit so even if you sacrificed ten doves to him in the prescribed manner on all of the correct days he wouldn't give you success in business as promise, breaking the do ut des system.

But like you say, in 2e, it's just handwavey. It's just so fucking inconsistent, and it's annoying that they go with the "all stories are true, especially when they contradict" except when it comes to Big Desert Three (those stories are all fake, chuds).

>>96828037
It could work, although I don't think the gods get much out of being worshipped in Scion, or at least it's not as significant as it is in American Gods. I think 1e dabbled in things like the New Gods (and it was widely panned, if memory serves), but I haven't read enough of 2e to get a handle on it.

I'm all in on the Soldiers table, we didn't get the other two officially christened but I think it's fair to assume it's exactly what the two groups were.

I just can't believe any of the rolls or story moments are organic. Everything feels fake as fuck and it's been that way since late campaign 2 when they stopped livestreaming. At this point I'm just watching for the banter of certain players (mainly Sam).

Hard to give a shit when it's a predetermined outcome with no stakes and none of the rules actually matter.

Trench Crusade General - /trench/Eurofag Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

Plastic has always been the only way to make it. Printing is a fun gimmick, not a scalable business model.

A retarded and spiritually vacuous thought.

>of the two have to be right (Christians, or muslims.
Both of them are 90% wrong. The 10% they have roughly right is material they have in common.

the fact they are called "IS" is pretty on the nose.

It's a miniature, not a statue. Pirinen is just that tiny.
