>>97374984>>97375211>>97375353This anon is right even if UWfags are crying their asses out. Look at how hard they shat on Lorwyn is clear they didn't want to make UB and UW compete that's why they made a low power level set and you are already seeing very good cards at TMNT. They will force everyone to play UB if they wanna compete in the formats.
>WE DON’T WANT UB AND POWERCREEP BULLSHIT>Ok here’s a classic Plane revisited and it’s not full of powercreep>NOOOO THIS ISN’T WHAT WE WANT!!!

..It took many iterations of DnD for the designers to realize they accidentally made Fighters just Wizards without spells.Wizards still weren't too wack cause you could cast one spell a day and the rest of your gimmick was being the only one with Use Magic Item.Rogues could do spooky shit like climb sheer surfaces with no hand holds, hear noises on the wind no one else can via ????, and other spooky ninja crap. Which got turned in to mundane nonmagic skills later har har har you can now only climb and not magically climb anything you want.Clerics the same as wizards, honestly.Everything stems from the original errors.

Do eugenics even make sense without race theory, 18th century taxomy, 19th century scientific racism, gene theory and that sort of stuff?
>Open drawing program to finally begin my map>Draw a coastline>Don't really like it>Move on to a more stylistic design instead, drawing a mountain mesa>Lines look like absolute shit>Close drawing programLooks like I'm not doing any worldbuilding this week!
>>97375298The Spartans (allegedly) practiced it, thousands of years before any of that, so yes.
>>97374829The big issue with eugenics is that humans mature and breed so slowly that by the time you notice the positive traits you were selecting for also has some really nasty side-effect it'll be too late to easily fix it. Though with modern gene-sequencing technology that would be less of an issue, since you could just genetically screen people to ensure the genes that lead to enhanced strength or intellect don't also cause your heart to explode when you turn 20. Though at that point you might as well not rely on random and clumsy natural mutations and just use genetic engineering to create a race of supermen (possibly to conquer the world?).>>97375067IIRC downs syndrome isn't actually a hereditary condition, but something that happens when something randomly goes wrong with early embryonic development and results in a duplicate set of chromosomes which screws up the proper development of the embryo. You could prevent people with it from being born by aborting any fetus with the syndrome, and the odds of it occurring is to some degree tied to things like the mother's age and exposure to mutagenic chemicals, but it's basically always a random chance that it occurs so you can't really remove it from the gene pool.Hereditary diabetes (as opposed to the one caused by improper diet) tends to onset relatively late, so most of the time people already had children by the times the symptoms started to show up, and when the average life-expectancy was lower the difference it made to your lifespan wasn't that great. In modern times it's easily medicated so the effect on your lifespan and ability to reproduce is minimal.
>>97375298>Do eugenics even make sense without race theory, 18th century taxomy, 19th century scientific racism, gene theory and that sort of stuff?Depends on what you mean by eugenics and what you mean by make sense. Selective breeding goes back thousands of fucking years, but without modern science, any breeding program applied to humans isn't really going to be selecting for "good genes".
How does it stack up against Gammaworld and GeneStorm?
>>97370511A weird, post apocalyptic future filled with mutant animals would totally fit in with the original comic.
>>97368569Didn't we just have this thread?
>>97368569In short: It doesn't. Don't know shit about GeneStorm, but GammaWorld has a better setting and a wider collection of different editions, each with their own collections of splats and supplements, for you to enjoy and tailor to your tastes, on top of generally being better games with better settings.Palladium's/TMNT&OS's mutation mechanics seem really cool at a glance, but when you really dig into them, the variety of options isn't that good and generally don't make very interesting characters.

>>97374926Armor interferes with the flow of the winds of magic. You suffer a malus to casting spells and channeling spells in WFRP while wearing armor, based on the most protective armor. However, not for all spheres of magic. You can cast spells of the lore of beasts while wearing leather armor without a malus. And spells of the lore of metal while wearing anything metal. It's a pretty hefty malus. If your character is really good at spellcasting, he may start to just take it and wear armor regardless (and elves are really good mages). However, it shouldn't really be worth it. Unless you are a wizard ascribing to the aforementioned lores.Unfunny fun fact: your wizard is supposed to dress in a way that fits his chosen lore of magic. There is no mechanic for that, it's more flavor. But in general, what your character wears can help or hinder the flow of the winds.High Elves can eventually learn all winds of magic, so they may end up looking just wizard-like.This post will be ignored, but that anon will reply to the shitpost
>>97374972>post will be ignoredNot if I can help it!I can't, but I did try.
>>97374972I did infactnot ignore itbut i did giggle about the shitpostAnd why the fuck is teclis fully armored? he doesnt give a flying fuck about armorAnyway follow up question the pic i postedShould elves and dragons be bffs like in warhammer? or should magical creatures not give a flying fuck about the other races and friendship and just do what they magical creatures doafter all dragons and other magical beings can be quite the trouble I personally like the idea of (elven) druids being the only ones with the bff status maybe
>>97374267It's more like they just see them as subcreations.
>>97375448>And why the fuck is teclis fully armored?Worth noting that he's a wargame character, and these rules apply to the RPG. The wargame doesn't really care about such minutiae. And he doesn't seem "fully armored" either. It's a magical helmet, a breastplate, some greaves. And I really don't remember anything specific about his armor, sorry. Despite having read some of these books. Applying the aforementioned rules, it can be a case of simply taking the malus to spellcasting for the extra protection, and he's a good enough wizard to take this trade-off.>Should elves and dragons be bffs like in warhammer? There is no "should". Both are ancient, magical, power (maybe once) and proud race. Good enough reasons for either being allies or enemies. Depends on the setting, both can be justified.

what's the best tabletop rpg if I want to make a campaign that's basically a shonen anime style tournament?
>>97373930Mutants & Masterminds. It allows for insane builds, so make sure to do a session 0 to make sure everyone buolds characters that operate in the intended setting. You can build a guy at Power Level 1 who can open a dimensional rift, shove someone in there and close it, trapping them forever. To avoid this make sure everyone is on the same page.
>>97375366Combat teleporting is underrated, I wanted to find a system that allows me to open tso adjacent portals, shove a guy into them and have him get bisected.
>>97374143Ok, 5E it is
>>97374341>>97374447In a Star Wars game, my gang of goons and I set up a fight pit next to the bar we used as our base of operations, and the GM found not only a way to balance something like that for the powerlevels FFG put us at, but also to include the whole party in the matches, even when none of us were competing. Everyone could choose to do something to affect the fight: observe one side's weaknesses, sabotage the fighter they didn't want to win, get the audience cheering for their chosen fighter, etc. and it would give bonuses to one side or the other. When it came time for the dice to fall, the party's efforts heavily affected the outcome.
>>97375504The audience cheering is a nice touch, not that appropriate in a samurai duel at court maybe, but I can spin it as someone important to the duelists either looking at them approvingly or glaring at them in disappointment.

I was diving in the archives and discovered this thing that /tg/ made a long time ago. Catgirls + an underwater world. It looks like the project withered away and everyone involved left this board ten or so years ago. So, how was it? Did it ever get off the ground?
>>97373848>just some random thing that popped up out of nowhereBroQuest was stolen from /v/, just like Towergirls. /tg/ has never been very creative.
>>97373285>Catgirls + an underwater worldSounds like a recipe for a lot of hissing, yowling, biting and bloodshed.
>>97373285It didn't wither away, in fact there were a few different systems people made it compatible for, I don't have the slightest clue in remembering which ones though. The copy I have saved is using d20, but if I had to guess, knowing /tg/ there's a GURPS version out there too.
>>97374788Gifs of a particular cat breed that enjoys swimming was a common feature of the threads.
>>97374449>>97375368That was fast, we now have evidence for two separate versions so we may actually find a GURPS one. Also for FATE one, I seem to remember people talking about adding more races, I remember mice was a common one discussed as an addition, but I also remember pigs, probably due to Porco Rosso.
