Calmaramon isn't, she just doesn't get to digivolve from Tamers like normal. And it isn't like Aqua gets any particular value out of digivolving from a Tamer.

Galacticmon directly contradicts itself, right? Half the deck wants shit in the trash, the other half wants shit to bottom deck. The top end wants you to slowly chip shields every turn while the other top end wants you to chip monsters then Ragnarok Cannon the shields away.
Zenith, you're my boy but this is schizophrenic deck design.

Do you prefer to make characters that are built to thrive within society, or characters that are built to be as independent from society as they possibly can be?

Generalists never prosper. Pick a lane and stick to it.
>>
>>97179453
Honestly, I don't think most roleplaying games are served by socialite character (as distinct from a face character). Society is the hapless or helpless thing needing saving, or the weighty hand pressing down on PCs, or something to be mastered and conquered; for standard campaigns, rarely is it ever both monolithic enough to be worth engaging with while also flexible enough to be manipulated. Sure, individuals might be worth your time, but the general corpus of the population is going to be useless neutral entities 90% of the time.

Of course, modern settings tend to make society worth engaging with, but I rarely get to play in a campaign set in those modern settings, so I can't say much there. And even there, your typical PC is usually a cultural outsider or a standout person, not a face in the crowd content to let social tides direct his path.

Honestly, I think it's less about GW deliberately trying to push an anti-white agenda and more that they figured they could get easy diversity grant money and thought the majority of the fanbase would be indifferent to it and that the only ones who would really be bothered are the kind of hard-core racists nobody sensible would want to be associated with anyway.

How many players do your current game(s) have?

How much is too much?

What's the smallest group you've been with? What's the biggest?

For me three players is the comfiest. I've ran games for two, and there was this time the table had 12 players. It was a complete shitshow but it was fun giving the GM a headache.

>>
>>97179894
>How many players do your current game(s) have?
8 (7+dm), but we are seldom ever all present. D&D 3.5e.
>How much is too much?
5
>What's the smallest group you've been with? What's the biggest?
3 and 9 (in a 5e game)
That game with 9 people was a complete shitshow, but it was fun since nobody was really taking things seriously at that point. It was more using D&D as a social medium than actually playing the game.
With my 3.5e group, since most of us have such inconsistent schedules between work, family, and life in general, we have a system where the DM chooses which day we'll play that week, and as long as 3 people are able to make it, we game.
That means that sometimes characters pop in and out of existence, but it's a compromise we al accept.
There have been times where all 8 of us were available on the same day and shit was going down in game.
One of these times where everybody showed up, we were embroiled in the defense of some capital city against an extra-planar incursion, and there were former-PC NPCs in the city too, so some of us got to control 2 characters.
That was a glorious mess. 10 or so PCs vs a hoard of monsters, with some of us protecting the town square, some of us in or airship doing aerial combat, and others fighting their way through a hoard of infernal (and abominable) enemies to reach the origin point of the invasion.
Shit was cash.
>>
>>97181067
horde*
>>
Ran a table for 2, and also ran a table for 6. My preference is 3 if they can show up consistently, 4 if people are gonna miss games. Currently running a two top and playing in a 3 top.
>>
>>97179894
Current game has 2, Scarlet Heroes homebrew Carcossa game, its fun and the HD as HP mode lets us use what would otherwise be an overly deadly setting. Still pretty deadly.
Have ran for 6 people, works as long as I kept everything moving and the rules were light but is a lot of effort. I tend to prefer 3-5.
Smallest has been just me, tried solo games, didn't really like it. Helped figure out a few mechanical interactions but not something I do regularly.

Not sure why sanity would be necessary for a horror RPG.

Anyway, Conan 2d20 has the Resolve mechanic, Conan stories being in no small part horror. You (thankfully) don't become "mad" like in Coc, but you do get Traumas.

You do become "mad" in The One Ring (another pretty scary IP, acually)... kinda, but the Shadow mechanic is a) not only caused by Dread and b) it's more of a thing that the GM calls on the players, making their rolls unfavoured and all.
>>
>>97186165
I primarily play World of Darkness, where sanity and mental or spiritual degradation are central themes. Because of that, I tend to think that sanity—or related concepts—is essential for a compelling horror experience, though I recognize that this is a somewhat narrow perspective.

I know that Robert E. Howard was friends with Lovecraft, and enough elements of the Cthulhu Mythos appear in Howard’s stories that you could argue Conan exists in a sort of cosmic horror setting related to Cthulhu Mythos or Cthulhu Mythos itself. My knowledge of Lord of the Rings is more limited though, but from what I understand, the Shadow can corrupt someone to the point of turning them into a hollow, shallow version of themselves. There are also terrifying creatures, like the giant spiders, that seem descended from otherworldly evil. but this shadow corrupting influence ties back to World of Darkness’s focus on spiritual and mental degradation.

I really recommend CAIN! I hope you get a chance to either play in it or run it!
>>
>>97186268
That's interesting, I've found my players have a more "horror" experience in games that don't have an insanity mechanic. I feel like insanity mechanics end up turning things wacky and goofy. I want players to rp their characters being scared because the situation warrants it, not because of a number going up or down.

I understand I might be in the minority, however.
>>
>>97187504

COC insanity is laughable, I do agree strongly.

because we're at a point in time were retards honestly have such a slim grasp on the divide between fiction and reality that they honestly cannot understand the concept of NOT self inserting and NOT making every player character be it table top or video game and actual extension of themselves

As long as a person is playing a character, that character will ALWAYS be an extension of that player. It's physically impossible for it not to be, because the player controls the characters thoughts and actions. All characters are self inserts by their very nature.
