I think the original problem that killed league was the dev team being waaaay too hands on. A lot of the fun was off-meta shit but in modern league if a champ designed for X role ends up being incidentally good in U role instead it gets nerfed into the ground. You play the game how the devs intend, and how they intend is for the game to be an esport.
