You could potentially have blacks as a villain set, Max Payne needs to shoot gang members or something, but having one that speaks is always going to grate on the nerves. Genuinely what is there even left to do in a single-player FPS? Valve couldn't figure that out during the development of EP3 apart from playing around with an icegun so they canned it. VR was kinda sorta different but they already blew their creative load on that in HL: Alyx. Just look at the state of shooters announced at the Game Awards, it's hard to even tell them apart anymore because the genre is so played out. It honestly would have been embarrassing to have a trailer at the end with Gordon crowbar-ing and shotgunning some Combine grunts, as if there's anything remarkable about it.
