Why is there such a stigma against girls who cosplay for money? As someone who has never had a girlfriend, being able to send money to cute girls who cosplay as the characters that I love is one of the only things in my life that makes me feel like I have a purpose. From patreon to onlyfans, it's on of my biggest joys and motivations in my life. One day I hope I can give money to a cosplayer at a con in real life and not just through the internet.

She is low tier compared to some chineses and japaneses.
But when compared to americans she is pretty good.
Most of the female americans are fat and ugly.

We're once again approaching the time for AWA. Anyone here going? Any interesting cosplays you're working on? Will there be a /cgl/ meetup? Dates are December 18th through December 21st, 2025, located at the Georgia World Congress Center, Building C.

Yeah it seems like “family friendly” has won out with audiences, organizers, and marketers. At least so long as the “family friendly” is also LGBTQ friendly, and that community seems willing to accept the censorship.

So Comikt is less than 6 days from now and still no thread about it on either /a/ or /cgl/. 4chan is truly dying & ober!
Obviously all the early entry tickets are sold out but you can still buy them online or from in person stores like Mellon books or Animate.

For the gulls that have made it the promised land or just here in Japan on vacation. Who's going and what are you cosplaying as?
I know traditionally anons met up outside at the "Red Saw" in Big Site.
There are other events going on and around Ueno & and Akiharaba aswel.
Expect crowds, lots of crowds...

This is my last (You) I have better things to do tonight.
You aren't Japanese
You will never be Japanese
You don't live in Japan if what you say is true not being the person in the photo(not that I believe you)
Your shitty cosplay is not funny or cute or anything people laugh AT you not with you
You are some shitty person who does not realize Japan is for a serious level of cosplay talen and figure. Not a fat white guy.
Stop destroying beloved characters in 'le epic hekkin tiktok brained' cross play in what is shitty at best
Stop being a fucking idiot no one wants to be lifted like in that picture, poor girl is probably scared for her life.

I feel I speak for most all of cgl and CC when I say we don't want the determent you bring to people who try to cosplay as a whole. GOOD. BYE.

“I am not the person in the photo”

Yeah ok bud, because if you were that would be pretty sad. Why would you WANT to be Japanese. Like especially given the dude in the photo is a tall white guy why would you want to be some buck toothed 5’4 Jap whose testosterone is so low he can’t grow a full beard and lives in an overcrowded country with sexual assault, no guns whatsoever and still denies war crimes like Unit 731. Couldn’t be me.

i'm not saying every person needs to have the same accurate body as the character they are cosplaying as, call be fatphobic but seeing ugly ass fat pigs cosplay and expect compliments annoys me.

I don't know how they are not disgusted of being a fat bag, and looking like a pork compared to slim or fit cosplayers.

I was wondering if I ever make a cosplay, I firstly understand what makes it bad. Even if I dress properly, make up, good wig, I feel like it would look bad anyway. I was wondering if it is something else, like face structure or just being ugly. Also not talking about cosplays that don't match body build or those that want to look bad ironically.

Except if you are cosplaying :
CABLE
Old Man Logan
Epic 4 Obi Wan Kenobi
Punisher
Deathstroke
This characters are mature men, a youngster dress like them do not look well, is the same as a 50 year old dude dress up like Robin
Not every anime character is a 15 year old

When you just wear the outfit of a character, but don't do anything with your hair to resemble them. Unless they have the hair and don't need to stylize it or wear a wig, this shit grinds my gears.

This is for the older con goers. How does it feel to go to cons? Do you feel out of place? What is the average age at cons do you feel, and when do you feel like you've aged out of the con scene? I'm early 30s myself and I'm starting to notice the age difference, and have been interacting with people a lot less at cons

So AWA is definitely a better option than something like Holmat?
>>
>>10965997
Nampa is litterally just talking to and picking up women in casual spaces. There are litterally areas in Tokyo like Shibuya or Harajuku were people actually talk like humans crica 2025 where guys and girls go to meet people. Also in Japan a girl is never supposed initiate interest even if she is interested. Its a double standard but it is what it is. The only thing that's werid about from a western perspective is your supposed to come of humble maybe even what we define as "beta". I.e dont be an obvious fuckboy.

How is that barbaric?
>Hi すみません あの.. I like your fashion/style/cosplay sorry if I didnt say anything I felt I would regret it forever
*if she shows interest* if not just let it go
>何に!oh thank-you, *flirt* I like yours too
>we should exchange LINE or instragrams
Thats it. 7/10 times she wont respond back buts that okay.

I do painting and diving as hobby and I've gotten some romatic/sexual and just fun platonic similar intrest relationships from just old-school nampa.
Im sure the same tactic works at cons.
Delete dating apps they are data mines and they make money by keeping you single. But I havent been back to the states in ages I forgot how mentally ill people are there.
>>
>>10966082
Nothing. Just that people browsing 4chan are probably more likely to seethe about things than those who don't.

>>10966084
Dunno, i've only been to AWA, not holmat. AWA was for sure a party-con though. They have little bars IN THE CON CENTER everywhere. It's fantastic. Just an absolute pain for me to get to, as there weren't any direct flights.... and the "crew" i usually go to cons with is more interested in northeastern cons.
>>
>>10966102
Those bars were nice but obviously marked up because of convenience. You get better value if you BYOB and just walk around with a cooler since staff doesn't give a shit which is awesome.
>>
>>10966104
>You get better value if you BYOB and just walk around with a cooler since staff doesn't give a shit which is awesome.

Oh yeah that too. That's what my friends and i do at most cons. We have these can covers to make normal cans look like Coke and Pepsi, but never even considered to use them at AWA since they do not give a single fuck if you drink.
We tend to do this "tradition" of all cracking something (usually a hard mtn dew) at the start of an escalator and finishing it by the end.
Most cons don't really care that much as long as it isn't a glass bottle.

I think i mostly just brought that up to emphisize the atmosphere that AWA is going for. I would post a photo of a "awa bunny sloot" from 2024, but i'm worried that the pasties would still get me banned.

Meet people at cons beforehand and figure out if they're chill. Once you find the right people that aren't creeps and pay properly then try rooming with them again.

I hope the average Jax cosplayer isn't as insufferable as all the Jax fags I've come across. By far the most unlikeable TADC character but also probably the easiest to cosplay (provided you don't go full fursuit). For such a simple design, I'm surprised how difficult it is to pull off a simple Ragatha cosplay.

silly question but if i'm only doing card tier this year, do i need to send proof of shipping my cards?

Oh, I see that's quite unclear from the FAQ!

People are expected to send proof of shipping in the card tier as well as the gift tiers, so please do!
If you don't have a receipt, it's also okay to send a photo of the card, or other things that might serve as proof.

I'll make the FAQ more clear for future years!

What keeps you coming back to cons? Even /cgl/, as small as it is, shows there's a billion possible combinations to explain: "Why?" Some answers, but definitely not all, would be
>Cosplaying
solo, group, admiring, meetups, photography
>What the event itself offers
Guests, shops / artist alley, rave, game room
>The social element
Parties (unofficial), hookups, meet new folks, mutual friends flying in from different areas
>Hanging out
People watch, the weird experiences only cons can provide, that one time in the year "the gang gets back together"
And of course any reasons I forgot to include are always encouraged. The floor is yours, gulls.

I like the vibes and buying art. Any panels I think are neat are a bonus.
Kinda getting the itch to put on a panel myself, and maybe it's the influence of my cosplaying friends but I'm starting to want to give that a shot, too.
>>
>>10964788
I still go for artist alleys. That's also why I liked going to a Japanese con twice and would like to go back a few more times, buying doujinshi and reading them whenever I want makes it worth it. I don't care about other parts of cons anymore because I don't care about the cosplays I see or don't recognize them, guests are random tiktokers who just happen to like DBZ, there aren't anymore concerts by Japanese artists in the cons where I go, and professional sellers just sell bootlegs of anything you can think of.
>>
>>10964788
I am more in my element with a bunch of nerds and weebs. My friends arent really nerds, so cons help me find a community with that side of things, if only for a weekend.
>>
NGL I've only been to two cons this year, a smaller one and Dokomi, and for both I didn't need to pay for tickets because I was helping a friend with her booth or modelling for the J-Fashion show. I still bought regular tickets for Dokomi 2026 because the whole fashion show thing might not work out this year due to a change in how they handle volunteer helpers, as well as the new organisation team that got implemented this year for the fashion stage sucking major balls.
>>
>>10964788
Quite a few things actually:
>partying with the bros
>a reason to travel
>that warm feeling when someone recognizes and complements your cosplay, usually only obtainable when someone enjoys my cooking
>good panels
>the positive energy from seeing my friends also have fun and contributing to that how I can, thus creating a positive energy tide that floats all boats
>the chance to discuss shit I like irl and meet more people into said shit
>the nearly impossible chance that I might meet a woman who clicks with me, which for some reason I haven’t written off as entirely impossible

>>
>>10965814
Having been to bad cons before (the worst one out of the ones I've been to being an actual fire or stampede hazard because there were way too many people in the venue), it's a no from me. The only good part about being at DashCon '14 was being able to tell people afterward that you were at one of the worst cons in history.

>>10965960
>I want pre-2020 cosplay back so much
2010's still had a bit of the old cosplay culture left, but by then the cancer that is influencer-driven cosplay was already taking over. When I finally started regularly going to cons in 2014 (not dashcon but other ones), names like Jessica Nigri and Yaya Han were already established as career cosplayers that did FOTM cosplays instead of using cosplay as an extension of fan art. It's obviously worse now, but it was already bad then.
>>
>>10965814
I was there in 2014 Saturday and Sunday. It was decent if you treated it as a meetup not an actual convention (I ghosted)
>>
>>10966054
from what I heard the organization of #2 was way more serious and competent with strict limits on number of participants
strange/teya has a few videos on it but I have not kept up with her recent ones after the announcement one
