So what do you use then? Even Windows is for servers (Active Directory, Exchange, SMB and DFS) and you also have LTSC IoT Enterprise(tm) and Intel made SoCs marketed as "IoT" that can run windows. Hell a lot of industrial and commercial dogshit you interact with is probably running Windows, even if Linux running some kiosk shit makes 100000x more sense and would be cheaper.

That's what OOM killer services are for. If you're 100% going to run out of memory, swap is a problem enhancer.

I know this general is focused on the unemployed in tech, but the overall unemployment rate, job market and economy across the globe is pretty dire. When will things get to the point where people are simply fed up and start making noise? Gen Z protests are happening lately, when will this become a global phenomenon that makes an actual impact?

Still using this.
I plan to get a modern replacement when a sufficient one comes out but nothing has impressed yet.
The issues so far are simply software related, no OS update and application impose soft-limits / are API version constrained.

Typical 4chan thread. Rage bait, bullshit conspiracy theories, and a lot or retarded takes.

> Firstly, they develop with gcc instead of using msvc. This sets them up to fail right off the bat.

ReactOS can be compiled with MSVC, GCC and Clang. You didn't even get the basics right, so rest is likely not gonna be much better.
Also this has pretty much nothing to do with anything, but again, you don't understand any of that.

> They should have developed each component to 100% before touching the next.

It was already obvious, that you have no idea how software development works. Have you considered, that different people have different areas of interest and expertise? There is no fucking point in having a kernel developer work on some user mode DLL. Also the more developers work on one thing, the more they step on each others toes. Software development just doesn't work like that!

> Each component should work 100% when dropped into windows.

Yeah, sure, good luck developing a kernel or hal, that you can just drop into Windows. Preferably Windows 10, lol. Again, you have no fucking idea how any of that works.

https://github.com/bhftbootcamp/LightweightCharts.jl/issues/7

This is a simple example, but it's a common one. Pluto.jl is a notebook system for Julia. LightweightCharts.jl is a library for generating financial charts. It didn't initially support Pluto, but adding support was just a matter of implementing a Base.show method for the mime type text/html and various displayable structs from LightweightCharts.jl.

The really convenient thing was that nothing had to be coordinated with the Pluto.jl team. Any library that implements an appropriate Base.show will automatically work with Pluto.jl.

Another nice thing was that Jupyter notebooks use the same Base.show, so we got Jupyter support at the same time.

You know how else you can do that? By giving them different names.

You don't actually need this, you are cheering for fake progress, you just add confusion, the compiler gives your functions the different names that you refused to give them, you are just detaching yourself from the reality of what's really happening.

A raspberry pi is the only type of computer I've had that got bricked from a power outage, despite being on a UPS. A microSD card is also the only type of solid state storage that I've had fail, ever. Probably best to use something a little bigger if you want something reliable. Doesn't have to be a full PC, but at least something that's not made for hobby projects.
