>>okay DM, describe how about half an hour of me hammering with a one handed mallet is going to crash through three inches of metal

Warhammers are not "A mallet", they are a specialty weapon designed for the purpose of caving through plate armour.

Every attack has a 1/8 chance of doing a single point of damage. Fire is halved. So assuming two hits a round, that means 1 point every 4 rounds or 5 points every 2 minutes. So yes 30 minutes is about right on average, however another part is

>Very large objects have separate hit point totals for different sections.

So 30 minutes on average will get you through a hole in a section of the bronze door.

If they just focused on the 4* spellcasters with 1850 atk you could get t a lot of mileage.
I turned that into a rank4/8 synchro 8 and link OTK machine back in the day with just some Kaiju and 2* tuners, there's potential in the charmers if they made new version with actual effect to special summon themselves and a familiar it would be incredibly sweet.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: What are some systems or you would like to include or see included in a campaign, but haven't been able to? They don't have to be the main focus of the game, having them only as something on the side is okay.

Are there any "cinematic" (or "vidya-like") rules that make the various types of guns balanced between each other?
Dealing with the high damage is easy enough (allow vitality reserve, second wind, etc) but I don't like how, certain weapons categories are just better than others.

I want a game where players can pick between
>dual wield pistols
>Smgs
>ARs
>shotguns
>LMGS
and have them be balanced choices with pros and cons.
>>
>>97326364
>rules that make the various types of guns balanced between each other?
Probably but that sure sounds gay
>>
>>97326364
/tg/ complaints department, have you tried D&D?
>>
>>97326462
D&D is a terrible example. There's no reason to wield anything that isn't the weapon with the biggest die unless you have a feat that requires something more specific.
>>
>>97326364
Survivable Guns nerfs rifles and MGs a bit, but it isn't enough to make pistols, shotguns, and SMGs competitive in a pure 'shooter' game where things like availability and concealment are irrelevant.
3rd edition had a more aggressive 'bulk' rule which actually gave quite harsh penalties to long arms a lot of the time, but also gave them much better Acc, so it kind of evened out.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs!

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

I like AD&D but I'm a bad person for not playing a game I have no interest in? Move the goal posts much?

Even though you're being rather rude with a condescending attitude I'll address your question:

Irrelevant to my point, you're moving the goal posts. C&C is one of the grandaddies of osr but it gets called off topic by some here. Any disconnect is between the name of this thread, its description, and what some people call off topic in a thread that is supposed to be about osr. I'm still waiting for an answer to what Gygaxian is because Gygax wrote metaplot story modules. You want to engage that question, great, but I've lost interest in this avenue.

sup with those PlayOK players who plays two different games at the same time? are they sick in the mind?
>>
>>97319070
Dude, this is so hard to play. It's fun though
>>
>>97317906
This. The original title was just Master and it was decided fairly ad hoc in the chess community, and it was just a bunch of elites, not hundreds or thousands, and this was before elo ratings, so they didn't really have any way to distinguish someone. Then FIDE came about and got a hold of it and started awarding people Grandmaster titles, and they kept expanding all the different titles - NM, FM, CM, and various women's titles you need less rating for, they have FIDE Trainer titles, and with the "Arena" online website farce they even have extra "titles". Normally if you do really well in something they give you an award, but if you get a GM title - you pay them over $300 lol. It's purely a racket. It costs them nothing.

CM (candidate master) is just a pretend title for kids, NM and even FM is also laughed at in some circles that you were a mug that fell for an obvious scam. The only ones I would consider are IM and GM, because at least with those titles you could have some authority, like if if you were to become a trainer or a writer on the game, even a commentator. Basically don't bother with titles unless you are very talented at the game and you find it tough getting worthy competition in your town, and in that scenario you could start to think about it.

I'm not against people getting paid to run. I'd never pay to play, but filling a need is viable. I agree with the other two, however. Also, while I am my groups forever GM, I'd never consider running a pay for play game because every time you try to turn a hobby into a job, it becomes work instead of fun.

Previous Thread: >>97090196

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

Some actual Rules like the clowns and GSC, while others like the Custodes and Admech are homebrew. Those two are odd because just as clowns both of them had experimental rules and the Admech one is way more interesting than the homebrew one that is in newrecruit.
The github version has hombrew knight for some fucking reason.
But both of them are rather complete for the non meme armies like Imperial Guard, Witch Hunters or Eldar

I am not trying to edition war or anything, but I am curious why4th edition instead of 3rd? I ask because I used to play back in 3rd edition, and am just wondering if 4e was just objectively better, more balanced, etc, or if the choice was a "this is when we got into the game" thing.

>absolute best case scenario fully-painted nu40k looks like THIS

How do we even turn the tide on this? How do we get back to the foamcut hills and rock towers and mesh fences and handcrafted bunkers of 1st-4th edition 40k? Not to mention less characters on DVD sized bases.

I mean god, GW don't even care for creating new plastic 40k terrain like they did 5th-7th, it's all laser cut MDF shit and rubber objective markers.

Where does this go in five more years?

>There is no contradiction in my claim. Aesthetics have nothing to do with gameplay experience, balance does. This was always my point
Play with little stones on bases instead, make your minis out of sprue and paint them with enamels if gameplay is all that matters.
Crunch, Fluff and Style are all a part of the game, there's a reason why you figger naggets aren't playing MESBG or AoS or Chess.
You LIKE the style of 40k, you are drawn to it, there's something there you like.

Furthermore i doubt these are thoroughly balanced for all armies. are there not table configurations that favour. the purpose is to be neutral for the BROADEST possible amount of people.
We're not out there organizing our seeding to ensure fair matchups for all players either. some armies are harder for others to play against.
That's the soul crushing thing about it, you guys took all of the creativity of wagaming and turned it into a board game.

>You spew all these opinions and yet the market disagrees
Yeah and fucking guess Mcdonalds is the best fast food place and Marvel just plain makes the best movies. Lipton Tea, just the best tea, can't beat it anywhere.
I have no idea how you substantiate the Tourney being more popular than casual play but anon you're not a wargamer.
you're not.
You're a pig and you eat slop.

Are you all the same person?
Your formatting is the same eye glazing brick both times.
Maybe you >>97324464 aren't because you actually have line breaks but this is weird.

well excuse me Sergeant Major Stick-up-the-ass, God forbid I want to play a game that looks cool for fun. You lose the ability to enjoy hobbies for fun along with all the hair, fag?

Arguably started with Wingcommander.

>Man Journos paid by EA to shill ME3 really have done irreversible damage to the conversation huh.
Feel free to suggest a different word then cockhead. But the attitude of somebody that wants the entire scene of an inappropriate game change to suit their tastes and hangups instead of simply choosing a more appropriate game is absolutely one of entitlement. No matter how much the word's use in a different context triggers your sperg lizard brain.

I thought it was going to be combi-bolter + blade, and then you could swap out for an assault cannon or other heavy weapon, plus a carapace gun. Guess not.
But those comically large hammers are retarded (and those axes are insulting)

Which legion was the most xenophobic?
I don't mean which one killed the most aliens but which one actually hated nonhumans the most, like how the Death Guard was famous for hating witches.
>>
>>97326369
Word Bearers I think. Stuff about the purity of the human form and all that. It's a hard call though, it would be easier to list the legions which are more accepting of xenos.
