I've run BitD, and I agree with the pros/cons of the clock. I think for Mothership, it makes it too meta-gamey and doesn't suit the horror setting where you should never have complete information. But thinking about it in the way you've set out has helped. If the players can't control it/take decisions based on it, move it earlier so it acts as a shock rather than as a complication. They're unlikely to go to the reactor first as the power is still on. Thanks.

It's kinda similar. If they have meta information you can use it to create suspense, but you'll lose impact. If you focus on impact you can't really build it up without killing it.

If you have players who aren't fucking retarded and you can actually run a game, tension and suspense happens through actual play.
If you need a visual aid to track sure why not. Don't put the information about what the phases of the clock do or how many there are on the board unless its something like 10 Candles.

In the short term? An intro about him awakening and his current living situation I guess, a general "guy comes back to his childhood city" deal, maybe try to reconnect. Getting rid of arranged marriage for childhood friend probably, it could leave it open to some other new build to be part of this new strange circle forming, and maybe getting a tamagotchi, still not sure on that one.
In the longer run? Other than exploring mysterious events in general and collecting legends I was thinking of having him work with the government for a while, seeing how long it takes for them to go mad from his ramblings and use them as an excuse to snoop around the place. Slowly work out what Spawn really is and making it evolve, and then fusing with it. Act like a cryptic old man to the student council for fun, since he doesn't aggree with separating the world from the idea world but he will still help with keeping people safe if he can/is close enough since we are a long way from peaceful coexistence.
He's very heavily geared for idea world stuff so I'm not sure what to do on the real world side other than wacky hijinks tied to his Awakened perk and how it makes reality not work right around him, floating around and walking on walls. Because of his nature it shouldn't be too hard to make him interact with others, he's moving around everywhere and looking into stuff he probably shouldn't, I'm just not sure about the specifics.
Not sure how much this helps, but his methods are pretty strange, so maybe he could use the help of someone with more real world skills in something? Like tech stuff or more detailed magic knowledge. Tech would also synegize with his Galatea skill in the idea world but that's maybe taking it too far. I'll think about more stuff if you need details.

What? You mean cyoas in general? It's a better question for the other thread but yes, the vast majority are essentially a character builder, then you are free to imagine the story in your head. That's how they are supposed to work, as a self-insert most of the time, but this thread specifically uses them a little differently. After making the character we start the process of telling the story collaboratively instead of completely by ourselves. There are some exceptions, like Peil's Life Chronicles that have a more stuctured and involved adventure part, but those are rarer and they don't work for what we do in here.

"AD&D" 2e is a bowdlerised knockoff for the storygaming special education kids of Satanic Panic moms. It's the worst edition ever published under the D&D brand. It's all unplaytested splatbooks which are literal shit and setting books written for nogame morons to read rather than play. I prefer the idea that they just collapsed due to nearly every world in the Kluster being dependent on other worlds to sustain its population (Strana Mechty and York were the only exception, and the Adders nuked the latter), so with the damage the War of Reaving did to their infrastructure most of their worlds just collapsed and their population starved or was reduced to barbarism. To add to the tex talk stuff, in MW4+Merc+Mektek2.1 online play when PvP was kicking back in the early 2000's...

The black knight was the meta. It packed the firepower to double hit a center torso on a quick jump snipe.(poptart) to 2hit all mechs CT. Side torsos in that game took 2-3 hits depending if the mech it hit was thin side torso type.

You didn't want to be huge because of points/ton difference in farming points while making kills to make them respawn(lowers their Damage per minute/DPM)

In MWO it sucks though.

If you told me a few years ago that I'd be primarily using fucking Army Painter warpaints I would've called you a retard. Genuinely what a gargantuan upgrade from the old crap, can't recommend it enough

They had good washes, good metallics, reasonably priced accessory stuff (flocking, green stuff, etc) but, yeah, their core paints were not good for mini paints. You could get good results, but it took more work than you should invest to get those results. I find it funny that it took them making speed paints for them to realize "Oh, people will buy our stuff if it doesn't suck dick!". To be fair, Speed paints being objectively better than contrast paints really came out of left field.

Anyone play it yet? I like the "rustic fantasy" setting. The core rules seem interesting, it has more mechanics and gameplay than most other narrative games. I enjoy that it doesn't have moves or whatever to confine you, you can actually play your character and do whatever you want. It's got enough knobs and options in terms of resolution I feel like it's actually a real game despite having that more story focus vs simulation focus. And I like that the DM has all the traditional power of the DM and there's not like "Fate Points" or something else that gives players control to change stuff.
Thinking I might try a short game for my table, just a few lower powered sessions. It also has good tools for a solo stuff which is interesting.

I've spent the last year, studying, and designing a custom Arthurian set, originally intended to be based on Le Morte d'Arthur (like how P3k was based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms).

However, as I continued to study, and look into different (and some obscure sources) this turned into a much more wider net.

This set, which is no where near finished includes
>Welsh Triads and The Magnibong
>Pre-Vulgate Arthur traditions
>Vulgate/Post Vulgate/Lancelot cycles
>some English/Welsh fairy tales
>and even a bit of the Victorian Arthurian revival (especially for art).

I avoided the Italian and German romances entirely, and tried not to include weird outliners except when needed. Outside of art, nothing is sourced from the 20th century or onward. Also all art is public domain.

I'm mainly posting here for feedback. Some will be art recommendations, flavor text (especially sourced) will be always welcomed.

The Welsh legends are mostly contrasts to their Romance counterparts. Such as King Arthur >>97282821.

I wanted them to resonate with each other, but do different things. In this case, both Arthur's are a tribal effect, and both work around legendaries. However, in the Mabinogion and other Welsh tales, Arthur's court isn't full of knights, but super powered freak. Thus, he gets a legends tribal effect instead.

Bed'wyr is one of Arthur's three chief warriors. With only one hand, he is still a more than capable warrior, and he never misses his mark with his spear.

He's actually described as being stronger than Cei, though he's considerably more humble.

Here is admittedly a very archaic Welsh spelling for Gawain. Other than not being a knight, he is the character changed the least from Welsh to Romance. This is probably due to his popularity in the middle ages.

He was Arthur's champion before the French decided to invent Lancelot, though evidence suggests Lancelot started as a crossover character. No definitive proof for this exists however

Easily the most bastardized transformation. When Chreitien de Troyes wrote his proses in the 12th century, he turned Kay into a whiny administrator and yes man. This trend stuck, and his character was forever changed.

Cei however, is a classic Europeon fire warrior, who in the tales is extremely volatile and inpatient. He has legitimate powers though.


His skin is so hot that he can boil the water around him in a lake, and snow melts before it touches his skin. He can breathe fire, and he can grow in size. All these abilities reflect in his mechanics.

What’s the consensus on solo wargaming? With Battletech Aces I’ve considered trying to run a campaign or convert the rules to classic somehow. I know Killteam has co-op, but I’ve never tried it and idk if they have campaign mechanics. Are these rulesets ass? I want to be able to use my minis on those weeks I can’t meet with my friends.

Playing with toy soldiers has been around as long as toy soldiers, so yes it's very normal.
I've found the main limitation is whether you're able and willing to play "fairly" - I for one always end up favouring one side or the other. And while I don't tend to fudge rolls or cheat, making better decisions for one side than the other makes for a pretty uneven game. Best thing I've found is to just lean into it straight away and play "your dudes" against enemy forces with the latter having more dudes but acting semi-randomly.
Also the solo RPG thread gets some solo wargame discussion.

Have you used these? Were they successful for you? If yes to both, then they're accurate insofar as they're helpful to you. If you haven't, then you're just trying to pigeon hole everyone but yourself in a way that's inaccurate and pointless because people are drastically more complex than that. They don't describe people at all. They describe how you can try to interact with other people, if you need some help with such a basic function.
