I guess overall the god machine thing and overall appraoaches to separating or mixing the setting splats comes down to personal taste and your group.Nice to see that it's not universal desu
I feel like Werewolf as a splat should be changed into "Shapeshifter" or some such. Give people the option to play as whatever & focus on unlocking different forms. Like, I don't see a lot of differences between a werewolf or werelion other than cultural ties & i think it would be cool to have shapeshifting more developed where players & ever the tribes/metaplot/npcs are seeking different forms as a way to gain power or advantage, & you could even have "legendary" or "mythic" forms, like maybe your character after much soul searching & questing unlocks a Unicorn shapeshift or a Dragon one, maybe there's even subsets of regular shapeshifting like "shadow wolf form". Maybe even developing shapeshifting into non-living forms like having your wolf become swift wind or soft rain.
>>97343190I guess I just don't see what splats are supposed to do in a single splat gameEndless political intrigue? Endless factory bombing? Endless getting beaten up by the Techies? Sounds pretty boring desu

What is your setting's game's tax policy in your game in your setting?
>>97343076Mods here suck, that's all you need to know
>>97343076>>97343192yeah it wasn't even /tg/ mods that got me lol
>>97343192>>97343206i just got some deleted replies + a mute, not a probe/ban (so a /tg/ janitor?) in an off-topic thread, while the thread itself was left untouched.i like the actual userbase and discussion here, i can see why someone WOULD come here to talk about something else. but yeah, stick to actual traditional games. doubt that's a controversial one as far as rules/moderation go.like just read OP's text lmao.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games. Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!Last thread: >>97165346Resources for Newfags: https://sites.google.com/view/wbgeneral/Worldbuilding links: https://pastebin.com/JNnj79S5 (embed) (embed)https://cryptpad.fr/pad/#/2/pad/view/Eo+fK41FKVR7xDpbNO0a0N4k0YYxrmyrhX3VxnM14Ew/Fantasy map generator: https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator/wbi/: https://discord.gg/6ZjEc7dy4TWorldbuilding Hub: https://discord.com/invite/wGjxK3YThe Writer's Forge: https://discord.com/invite/CUxHxWqTira: https://discord.com/invite/f52W6KgComment too long. >>97339745The idea with the Aphorine devotees is that they are essentially biochemical warfare specialists. Their augmentation has turned their bodies into living cauldrons for production of potent chemical concoctions, drugs and hormones they can use to either subdue, beguile or just outright kill their victims. Basically, they are akin to living censers that in combat, emit a cloud of mind altering vapors. Just getting too close to them without rebreathers may be dangerous and even rebreather aparatuses may not help because many of the chemicals the aphorine devotees can unleahs are skin permiable. The octopus like "caressid" symbiote plays a vital part in this process as can use the basal compounds produced by the augments of the aphorine and catalyze them into even more potent chemicals and toxins and transfuse them into it's stinging tentacle whip, allowing the Aphorine to basically deliver lashes laced with whatever mixture of drugs, toxins or hormones they desire to inflict on their victims.
>>97334762I like those ideas, I can work with thatThe goo Lagoon one especially, got me thinking of a underwater necrocracy with merfolk mummies and necromancers and these said mummies when brought to the surface be in tanks of brine that could be cool
>>97333455>>97336630You doing illustrations of different weapons and soldiers in your setting has inspired me to do the same, even though I mostly focus on space stuff, though I don't do it very often (This is the latest one I did, after someone asked me to complete a set of similar pictures for all the main factions of the setting).
>>97341958Neat. The race for which these weapons are for are some sort of insectoids?
>>97311994What are some good resources for when you want to add an element of randomness to your world-building?
I have a bit of an inane question for the peanut gallery. Do you have a favorite thing that you'd never actually play/play as?For example, I just realized that I really fucking love the Samedi/Cappadocian clan/bloodline of Vampire: The Masquerade. But I don't think I'd ever consider playing one, and I'd likely opt to play a Malkavian instead under virtually all circumstances, or a Tremere. Samedi doesn't even register on the list of characters I'd like to play, even when I do have concepts I'd include if I were the ST/GM.
>>97343390Lots of people have ideas they really like but its just ideas instead of a thing they've thought through what it would actually be like in contrast to their fantasy. It causes problems when those ideas and fancies overcrowd actual activity. You see this a lot on /tg/ where various players and gms have too many half baked ideas and it doesn't go well or anywhere. Its not a big deal or very important, but it is frequent.
probably the Upper Hand from Jade Empire for the Xbox.
>>97304453ok
>>97337364I don’t care for this post.
>>97337364>and thus all your historical and mythological cross-referencing is irrelevant to /tg/ because it CANNOT functionFalse. A well grounded historical and mythological understanding helps both world building and improvisation during ttrpg gameplay. A thing you would know if you actually played games instead of desperately refreshing your spambox.
>>97343159Give an actual example. Cause this topic only ever seems to involve squabbling over definitions and never discussing any actual games.
>>97343159For the counterfactuals. Where the history and mythology does not exist. And the rules must have clear descriptions separating game functions. How, exactly, do you write rules for a Wizard doing the rather common COUNTERSPELLS under this prescribed meaning of "magic" that flagrantly ignores words being capable of having outright contradictory meanings? Because that game function strictly requires spells be a distinct thing that can be countered, in turn strictly requiring that they be put in a box away from all the non-spell game functions.
First Order of the Stick of the new year is up.
I can't believe belkar betrayed the team and made them into pies
>>97343315From what I understand, the irony is that the actual metaplot of Dark Sun is the complete opposite of Dim Sun's resolutionThat the Age of the Conan-esque tyrant sorcerer-kings' ruleship was long past its time, and that it only needed one successful rebellion to domino chain its way into a proper Age of Heroes, starting with your partyThough I suppose Elan said it best; Why change the status quo so suddenly in your intro to the setting?
>>97343274the goblins maybe but not Redcloak, he'd never accept this solution because the goblins getting a good deal no longer matters to him, it has to be HIS deal and HIS vision
I see, every race will get their planet. It will end with a photo realistic world of only humans.

>>97341812> TQ: Do you have food in your games? What type of food is it? Star wars food?So one time I got ahold of that Star Wars galaxy’s edge cookbook and made a few dishes from that to take to my EotE game (which I also GM), I felt the gesture went completely unappreciated (like little commentary about the offered food and little interest in trying any of it unless I prodded) so… yeah I largely don’t do that anymore… for any of my gamesNow I will say if it were to come up in-game about local cuisine, my guess would be:>TrandoshanIf ever invited to a traditional Trandoshan BBQ, it’s best to fast for 36 hours previously, because it’s going to be a multi-course event where every course is some kind of spiced cooked meat, the portions are large, and the courses are many. If not prepared or accustomed for such things it can turn into an endurance test.>WookieHardy comfort food that is a lot like Trandoshan cuisine, but with more vegetable options. Just don’t let the host hear you make the comparison.>NabooIf we’re talking the human Naboo cuisine, it’s generally going to have more butter in it than one might consider, “acceptable” but one can’t argue with the results Comment too long. Falleen are a really interesting race and the highly inflammatory rumors that they use some unseen body chemical to influence non-falleen people around them is completely false and utterly speciesist behavior.>muh pheromonesThat's just bigotry from backwards outer-rim yokels who couldn't point out a Falleen if it was the only non-human in a lineup.I actually met Prince Xizor himself during trade negotiations as a representative for Kark MegaIndustries - Plaststeel Division and let me tell you he is an amazing man with nothing but the good of his people at heart.I was taken aback by his warm and friendly demeanor, despite the utter tragedy his people suffered during planet-wide pandemic that has decimated his people. It is with great pride I signed the declaration of intent for Kark MegaIndustries to sell a majority share of our projected Plasteel production for the coming ten years to Xizor Transport Systems for use in refugee relief work at a greatly reduced rate. This strategic partnership will ensure not just growth for both companies in the long term but also provide sustainable housing to the billions of refugees fleeing the ongoing terrorist activities in the outer-rim territories.

>>97343536It'd be my race of choice for a D&D game if it were available, just because I'm a degenerate with terminal bunny-brain. The basic consensus seems to be that they make strong spellcasters and buff/debuff style support because they get Hare Trigger for better initiative and Rabbit Hop which lets them exit melee without provoking attacks of opportunity. Of course, these could be useful for pretty much any class.
