GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image (follow the URL to get to a folder with some files, read the files to get to the archive). Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: Which rule do you constantly see shilled but always thought it was shit?

Wow, a frogposter without a brain. Who could have imagined.

IQ/Will/Per isn't even much of an issue when you can just reduce Will and Per

ST represents physical power and bulk. HT represents physical energy and vitality. High ST characters hit harder and take more damage. High HT characters run for longer and get sick less often. These scores have absolutely zero correlation with each other. What purpose would merging them serve?

I just read Death Troopers and considering how hyped the book was, I didn't think it was very good. The part about the cannibals in the shuttle was kinda cool though.
>>
>>96636966
It's dangerous but not really lethal. Most characters can get knocked unconscious in 2 or 3 hits, but that just means you take a critical injury and you're out of the fight. The crit table results that outright kill you can't be rolled unless you have multiple critical injuries already and/or you're being attacked by something with a bonus to crit rolls.
>>
>>96637415
I have never heard Death Troopers hyped in a positive way, everyone talks about how terrible and obnoxiously gory the author's writing is.

While almost all tabletop games are probably printable, some are impractical to print. For example, printing a 200 page book, or a square meter board is impractical. But printing a page of standees and a couple stat sheets and reference guideswould be fine

Recommendations for easy to print/pirate games, and why you'd recommend them?

My personal recommendations:

Battletech - model agnostic, super crunchy with high degree of customizability, game is designed to be printed up en masse
Sword weirdos/space weirdos - fun skirmish wargame, use whatever you have on hand, pdf is cheap but can be found for free
Gaslands - just a fun time, wouldn't buy it though. Only 1 page to print, then buy some toy cars I guess

There is a lot of Something & Something, so once you get the basic idea it should be easy.
>>
Technically if you can get the unit cards, wh40k could maybe be printable with paper standees i guess, but it certainly wouldn't "feel" quite right
>>
>>96634333
Early Xbox Live was garbage (but not because of the shittalk). Real online gaming was early PC gaming where people would host their own servers.
>>
I've seen some people print up cards on some A4 paper, and run em through a guillotine, then put them in card sleeves to "block out" the back. Though youd probably spend more on the sleeves than the game itself anyway.

The games I've seen people do it with are hero realms and mtg, calling their fake cards "proxy decks"
>>
>>96637938
Using this, a few games would be easy to pirate. I'd imagine games like splendor and the mind would be good to go. But i don't recommend the mind. Game is basically gambling but boring

Set it in DC to piss off retards who think NV is good.

I ran a game set in Tennessee once, main factions were:
>Brotherhood branch sent from out west who's got their hands tied because the Barrett manufacturing plant is in murfreesboro near nashville and the biggest city has access to .50 BMG semi-auto sniper rifles which can turn power armor into tissue paper, they were happy to just convince the common citizenry to not fucking kill themselves with the tech they have
>Community of mutated inbreds to the east led by someone who, ironically, is a normal human due to inbreeding and mutation basically spinning around itself to make a normal human that were the stand-in for super mutants
>The Kings had moved into graceland, having sent a force from Vegas to secure the home of Elvis for The King, along with Boone sent by Courier Six to babysit them and report on them
>Community of descendants of Xarn in a blasted wasteland to the west, intelligent deathclaws
>A group of Confederate slaver LARPers called the Feds who controlled food production which is why they still were around
>The Spartans, a minor faction of spartan LARPers from Sparta, Tennessee who confused the name of the town for the actual place in greece thanks to some old holotapes who were little more than a warband of sorts basically subordinate to the feds

Also rather than scorpions, had "Radcluse Spiders" since Brown recluses are a thing in Tennessee, I recolored the frostbite spiders from Skyrim for the tokens. Avoided a lot of creepy crawlies because I don't handle them well.

There was also a vault focused on growing food with radiation underground to make it bigger and more bountiful that led to the entire vault turning into yellow ghouls from consuming these super radioactive bananas.

Party also met The Lone Wanderer and courier 6 and got some sick loot for doing odd jobs for both.

NV trades exploration for narrative. It's a storyshit railroad but at least it's a good one.

Fallout 3 trades a good narrative for a fun world to explore with lots of cool hidden shit, it's a litterbox but its main quest is utter dogshit.

I've always thought Manchuria was an underrated setting for a potential roleplay in the Fallout Universe. Have it set along the Korean border, the Russian border and in as far as regions in Heilongjiang as Harbin city, creeping a little in the Gobi desert

>The Remnants of the US army deployed for the Gobi Desert campaign settle into their own faction. Being so isolated from the US mainland and so many years having past, their past existence in The United States comes to seem semi-mythological. They talk as if they're something similar to displaced men from the city of Troy
>Koreans have their own towns and cities, and still follow a form of "juche" in that they keep their settlements self sufficient and closed off
>Russians in Vladivostok leave the bombed out city for the storage docks by the port, living in shipping containers that have been converted into homes. Siberia further north is even more of a frozen wasteland that's even harsher to live in, despite being relatively free from radiation
>Mainland China further south is heavily radiated, and was more heavily bombed than the United States was. Their "Vault" system was an extension of their underground rail system, and cities burrowed down in extensive elaborate interconnected tunnels between cities along the coast. They call it the "People's bunker".
>Because The Chinese Northeast is the one habitable part of China left, people start emerging from the People's bunker and settle the land, with massive tensions between them, the Russians, Americans and Koreans. Most people are jaded and cynical, but a few dedicated redguards who believe in Maoism remain.
>The largest Chinese city is a few kilometers inside the People's bunker, and it trades extensively agricultural products made in Manchuria for manufactured products produced within the bunker itself using old world technology.
>>
>>96637885
But yeah, most of the "Fallout set in other countries" thing is just people wanting to basedface over The Big Ben or Brandenburg Gate or whatever appearing as a location. Which I get, it's cool, but you can do any post apocalyptic setting for that.

The reason I think Northeastern China works as a setting is because it matches with the Fallout lore already. We know

>Mainland China was more heavily destroyed and "sent back to the stone age". The Chinese Northeast could be the one part of China that's about as habitable as the post-apocalyptic United States
>The United States soldiers were present in mainland china at the time of collapse, and were engaged in a Gobi Desert campaign
>Crossroads between Russians, Koreans and the Chinese make for interesting cultural dynamics and more clear-cut social and racial divisions in the region

Plus the idea of the Chinese approaching the vault system a different way is cool I think. With their highly overpopulated coastline, it's natural to assume they'd just build down as a means of surviving nuclear war. It's also reflective of the communist mentality to have megaprojects that are, on paper, for all people. It leans into the idea that Mao Zedong repetitively pushed, that China could survive nuclear war and keep on fighting. It's a nice contrast to the individualistic and corporate Vault Tec way of privatized, separate bomb shelters.

For an overarching campaign plot you could have it that the American faction in the Gobi desert is worried about the growth of Chinese towns and cities in Manchuria, and tries to bomb apart the openings to the People's Bunker in the region. With the players either siding with the Chinese or the Americans, and the Russians or the Koreans being factions that could lean either way.

The /btg/ is dead! Long live the /btg/!

No, everybody has been using different styles of lists here. Some prefer tacticals in rhinos, others prefer 20 man squads, then there's people who prefer rapiers or predators... Much more list variety than during 2.0, where everything revolved around the number of contemptors you were allowed to bring.
>>
>>96637850
White Scars are fun because +2" of movement during your turn makes A LOT of units more viable and their legion reaction is extremely strong while not being once per game.

A WS jump pack command squad with a MoS giving them Line (1) can do a lot of work while being hard to pin down if you don't want them to be.

Bikes, jetbikes and speeders are all useful but just remember they can't contest objectives at all in 3.0 because they're cavalry. They can still score with vanguard and can be very useful in boxing in units on objectives by flying over and behind them (So they can't react move off the objective when your Vanguard units come in) but you need them to work in concert with units that can score.

That being said, you can also make your cavalry units Expendable (2) with a prime advantage which makes them remarkably useful suicide blockers.

Also being able to give your infantry units Move Through Cover helps a ton too.
>>
>>96637850
Keep in mind that it is mostly caused by people copying armylists they find on the internet. Older editions had the same issue of most people's armies looking similar, because most players look up online what is considered meta then copy that into their own army.

Palladium Games and Rifts General! /PGaRG/

The world is a broken, post-apocalyptic wasteland destroyed by the eruption of inter-dimensional portals, rifts in the fabric of space-time and ley lines which crisscross the world. God fucking dammit, this is what the fourth tradition is for. Okay. So here's the QRD because I can't be fucked to hold your hand through everything. I miss Blue, she would take care of strays like you and spare the rest of us from it.

>You get "stronger" the same way you did in life. Do shit. Hone a skill. Your brain isn't half as "fixed" as people say it is. Even though you can't train your muscles, The Blood wants you to get stronger, so you can still get stronger, faster, tougher.

>If you ever want to kill your sire, do something really stupid in public. 50/50% chance she dies, 50/50% chance you die. Depends on if the Prince owes her a favor and if he/she thinks you'd be useful to him/her as a minion.

If it helps, she did explain some things, like 'don't sell your blood to people for petty cash you fucking imbecile'. Mostly because she told me normal people can get really, really high off of the stuff and I figured it's a way to, at least, not have to work much. So I'm not entirely inept, just mostly and nigh-completely.
>You get "stronger" the same way you did in life. Do shit. Hone a skill.
So I should take up running unnaturally fast as an evening hobby, and then maybe I'll also be able to just fucking vanish like her. Incredible. I don't know how that works, but at this point confusion is more or less my natural state, so, thanks, I suppose.
>Related to the above point, if anyone tries to get you to join something called "The Sabbat" or "Sword of Caine", shut that shit down. They're a death cult obsessed with the apocalypse and will force you to kill innocents until you think like they do.
That sounds retarded. Not the warning, the idea of an apocalyptic death cult forming out of people who are already dead. Or them looking at me like I am a prime pick for their cult. What'd even make them want me?
>You probably have never even heard of The Prince.
>Your ass is supposed to have been shown to them.
This one is a bit fucky. I think he visited, but me and others didn't get to see him. The mistress and him argued a bunch about her vampire-making habits, among other things, with his position being 'you are acting recklessly, and your non-interference with local affairs just means you don't know how much you might mess up things' and her position being 'you're being a busybody, go away, I could demolish you and instead am having a good time, harming nobody'. Didn't get to see him, and I'm not going to guess who he is outside of work hours, but I'd guess he's seen me by proxy, at this point.

Any clue if the jar of evil shadows gave me shadow cancer or something?

The formal term for your mistress is your Sire. You should ask her when she intends to present you to the local Prince or Baron or Bishop

You should probably move out of your house as soon as possible. In general, try to stay away from creepy shit. How have you been feeding yourself all this time?
>>
>>96636838
Don't listen to >>96637010. the Sabbat seeks only to liberate all Kindred (that includes you) from the tyranny of corrupt elders who seek to enslave their childer and to destroy all vampires who engage in devil worship, which our kind calls Infernalism

>The formal term for your mistress is your Sire
She's a woman though. I get that it's probably traditional, but it still feels kind of weird. And I think she seems to like hearing 'mistress', however utterly inscrutable she may be in most ways.
>you should probably move out of your house as soon as possible
Why?
>How have you been feeding yourself all this time?
Oh, alt girls at local clubs and stuff. They're freaky and relatively easy. Plus my sole redeeming quality and the only way I really got anywhere in life are my looks, they're why my mistress grabbed me in the first place. Managing constant one-night stands is, if anything, easier now that drinking booze does nothing for me. They just don't really feel as fun anymore, it's a neverending game of playing half-naked, drunk, asleep goth woman logistics. Like a third of the time I have to ditch my house and head to my mistress's place for the day, just because I can't really throw out a girl I got with, and she's way too asleep to get up on her own, and she'd naturally freak out if she sees me catatonic in the morning.

I don't feel that tyranned over, though. Or a desire to worship any devils.
>inb4 you merely don't recognize your bindings
I am sure I was chained to having to fucking breathe air when I was alive, but it'd be dumb to call it being tyrannized with the reign of corrupt molecules of oxgen.

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, Judge Dredd, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void, Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenotactics...
...and anything else that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread.

For some reason 4chan thought my post was spam, and I had to keep rejiggering it until it accepted I was human. For somereason, adding that phrase in that specific spot convinced it to let me post... but only after I deleted the (ignore this) bit it originally had :/
>>
>>96637616
It may have been the ignore part.
Also, are you aware of the bunker?
>>
>>96637780
No see, that was added in after multiple failed attempts at "alter the format of your post so it no longer reads spam" notifications

I recall something about 4chan imploding for a bit, and folks supposedly looking at alternative sites? Then 4chan got its crap together despite the odds.

nta, but the communiy is now for the most part on a different chan site you are not allowed to link here(you can find the link in he drive), but we go our own board there and it got some neat feaures in regard to files you can attach, like no image limit, larger file sizes, multiple files per post and even being able to include sound in videos. .

Me and anyone who actually plays the game yeah. The vast majority of tow players are whfb players who already had armies and I've never seen anyone ever play 500 points games in any club or tournament ever.
I play almost every week since the release of ToW and I've seen one (1) 500 points game and that was a demo game in a GW store for a special event.

So when you're confidently declare that "lot of people are playing 500 point games" when it's literally the most obscure least played format ever, I'll just reply "nah" to that head canon.

I think there are good chances they will try to make into plastic as many infantry and cavalry units as possible
monstrous stuff isn't as high in priority unless the faction is completely missing even one plastic centerpiece

for example, for tomb kings, I believe they would rather keep the ushabtis and bone giant as they are and instead remake skeletons

but speaking about the longest terms 10+ years from now, then yes, they will want to have everything in plastic and keep resin or metal only for limited products
