Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. And as we enter this happiest and newest of years, remember: 2e was never an old-school game, bait is for reporting, and fish is for smoking! Happy new year, grogs!

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

The thing I've never hear specifically called out is that wet palettes are a cost saving measure (indirectly through being a paint preserving tool). With a wet palette you can work for a session with single drops of paint where if you were using a dry palette you might need to use 5 or more drops to do the same work. And they DO work to do that, but make no mistake, wet pallets are not a pro tool used to improve painting, or help you thin your paints properly or whatever people say. Technically painting on a dry palette is marginally better, but it's such a minor difference I don't know it matters.

To that point though, some anti-wet-palettes people bring up absolutely retarded points like
>You don't see any other professional artists in other mediums use a wet palette
Yeah, that's because a professional using artist acrylics (lol) with a gelled medium that takes forever to dry and is in a 30cc blob on the palette that will take hours to dry and cost 10 dollars for a liter. and then other mediums don't have the drying issues that mini painting has. oil painters don't have this concern at all, water color and gouache kind of have the issue but that's the whole point and how the mediums work. I've seen the monument hobbies guy use that reasoning, and gee, I wonder if he has an interest in making people go through paint faster.

I don't know if it's because of the way you took the picture but it has a lot of contrast and looks very pleasing.
>>97336391
I think these would look better if the inside was of a different color than red, now it looks like a VERY bright OSL. It's still nice though!
>>97336028
The finish you got is a bit grainy in a couple spots, don't know if it's because of the primer or the way you applied the paints but you could work on improving that. Otherwise it's solid work, everything is clean and "in lines" as far as I can see. Obvious next step would be to add some shading/blacklining.

My S4U works fine, bit if thermal expansion is the problem just get the not 16k version, the problem has nothing to do with the tilt mechanism if that is the case.

I can not really believe your part, because the photo shows loads of resin, and even if the film leaks under expansion it is still clamped down, metal to metal and glass, and viscous resin will not simply flow like water. There probably was a bit of a leak, and you made a mess out of it.

Else, if it leaked from the bottom, why is the side so crusty with resin?
>>
>>97332093
do you feel you get significantly better quality prints when running at 0.02mm layer height? Would there be a point in doing so when printing very small minis?
>>
>>97336020
I think it depends on the printer to a point. I tested .05 vs .03 on my photon mono 4k. And didnt really notice a difference. The layer lines were still there just kinda diffrent.

Now on my Elegoo Saturn 3 ultra 12k printer, I very much notice the diffrence between .05 and .03 layers. The lines are mostly gone aside from larger prints like tanks or dreadnaughts. And even then you cant see them at all after painting.
>>
My wife fucked up my Ender 3 by using some dogshit glitter fillament she bought without consulting me. It melted everywhere and made a huge mess so I'm trying to get it working again. The nozzle was unsalvageable so I replaced it, and I tried to clean out the heating unit. I'm at least getting a clean output from the nozzle, but I'm having bed adhesion issues now. I've cleaned the bed with IPA and a lint roller so it is clean and dust free. What should I try next? Things are lifting off the plate within a few minutes of the print starting, and I'm printing something I have printed successfully before.

Re. AI art, people that are against that sound insane to me, I used AI art for most NPCs in a campaign I did and it really added an extra layer to every character because I'd put them on the screen (played via Discord + Roll20) when roleplaying as them. I prompted to have a consistent style across all images, I think it was "abstract art of..." or "painting of..." so it felt like a videogame as well as a ttrpg. Consistent music choices are good for that as well.

On /tg/ there's just not that much to talk about anymore. Every conversation that's substantive in any way immediately devolves into political or political-adjacent bickering.
The board is full of autists who hate each other and all hide away in their corporation consumerist generals, and you're only allowed to talk about what's normal in the corporation consumerist generals. You know why you're allowed to mock tables? Because in the corporate consumer general for Warhammer, they think it'd be great if you spent more money and bought more shit, so mocking tables is one of the few safe topics that you can touch that won't have a wannabe Games Workshop community manager screaming at you.
That's basically all it comes down to.
Just the board being shit now and full of insufferable assholes.

Welcome to /wbg/, the official thread for the discussion of in-progress settings for traditional games.

Here is where you go to present and develop the details of your worlds such as lore, factions, magic and ecosystems. You can also post maps for your settings, as well as any relevant art (either created by you or used as inspiration for your work). Please remember that dialogue is what keeps the thread alive, so don't be afraid of giving someone feedback or post whatever relevant input you might have!

Going to try and ask this here but I doubt I'll get an answer: I pitched the idea of turning my very natural fantasy setting into one with steampunk societies. Airships and pirates, similar to Skies of Arcadia and it slides into a nature vs technology theme. No one seemed keen on the idea. Why does it feel like everyone I know only wants grounded low magic fantasy settings?

Interesting they'd create a Mind Link tamer that actually wants to risk staying in the Digimon as a primary focus.
Usually the Seekers stuff just wants you to Alliance or Jamming the opponent before resetting yourself.
Unchained really is unchained with how he approaches gameplay between using DNA, Mind Linking and normal Link.
Hell, one might get the thought that he wants to combine things together if one didn't have the context to his actions from the novels/manga

>>97337878
At launch it was just a creature focused card game that fixed my two main problems with Pokemon: the ass energy system and the long solitaire turns where people draw 10 cards and have to shuffle their deck after each one. Now memory has (imo) become an ass resource system in the opposite direction because for the most part meta decks can ignore it and it doesn't serve its function of reasonably limiting the actions you can take early in the game, and the turns are now just as long if not longer than turns in Pokemon on average.

I've pretty much only played with all 3. What's wrong with using the ladybug and mosquito without the pillbug?
>>
>>97337598
It's too attacker oriented, so the first player has a significant advantage. With two extras but no pillbug (the only defensive piece) white can just brute force a win, which isn't really possible with the limited amount of pieces in base game. I can't find the post now but the hive autists collected and presented a lot of data from some webplay site and the closest to 50/50 balance was no expansions or all expansions, and actually only ladybug and mosquito was one of the worst

Renegade Legion. The Roman Empire is reborn and goes to the stars, creating a huge interstellar empire. It consisted of a number of games - Centurion was a sort of more complicated version of Battletech that used supersonic grav tanks protected by forcefields instead of Battlmechs, They also had a Fighter game and another involving fleet action between km long battleships. You played as either troops of the mighty empire, or rebels/aliens fighting against their oppressors.

They still raid their neighbors for slaves and raw materials. They've just gone from a bandit kingdom to a semi-legitimate state that still gets a significant amount of their income from piracy (or I guess technically privateering, since it's state-sponsored).
I also find it hilarious that they only exist because some Irish space-pirate found a motherlode of germanium (the material JumpShip drive-cores are built out of, so it's valuable as fuck), used it to become filthy rich, and started his own kingdom where he insisted everybody must wear togas and call him emperor since he was a massive romaboo.
