GW kept mentioning space marines or even primarchs coupling with regular human women and it always took me out of it. Like how the fuck? Wouldn't she get ripped in half? But then it dawned on me. They just have tiny penises. Well not by human standards, but relative to body-size. Like think about it, why would you supersize the dick too when there literally do not exist women big enough to handle that size? So the simplest explanation is they just keep the penis size of a regular human.

Coupling? I've never seen it mentioned, Primarchs or Astartes. Fulgrim had a marriage I think, but it was based on politics.

The Astartes know about sex, but don't understand it and their dicks don't work. And they probably have massive cawks.

Merry Christmas everyone!

It's absolutely fucking bullshit, the MoC should be the joke nation of the inner sphere but somehow they get their way in EVERYTHING.
>>
>>97178090
In the 3050s the Taurians and Capellans and WoB for some reason all took turns selflessly advancing the MoC despite getting nothing in return

Hell, the MAF pulled several mech regiments out of thin air at that time

The various authors of BT can't write for shit, the fact they removed the inner sphere abillity to produce interesting shit like HPGs and warships while the clans can still produce them speaks of the sheer amount of favorism they have.

If I could rewrite he lore, Clan Wolf would've died when the Falcons absorbed them, Comstar would've become a major faction and clan-tech would become standard for the IS militaries by 3151. But then again, any retard could write better that the shitshow that was the Jihad

I always found it weird that D&D was maligned as witchcraft, satanism, and anti-social. From what I can tell, TTRPGs just increase sociability, problem solving, conscientiousness, and probably improves self-concept through skills and self-esteem. Did any anons here live through Bothered About Dungeons and Dragons or the Satanic Panic? Sorry if this is boring or repetitive to others, but I want to study the social aspects of TTRPGs and how it exists as a subculture. I think, by and large, this is the best board on 4chan because people really care about this hobby and want to help others get into it. Despite the shitposting, I think the community is vibrant and the games I played through Find a Game threads were all filled with genuine, nice people. So it irks me that the Satanic Panic tried to paint subcultures as evil. Maybe it's because people think TTRPGs overlap with extreme music or just teenage entertainment in general.

It's really cool that you want people to praise your moral values, but saying "boy those people burning witches 1000 years ago were WRONG! Isn't it wrong?" Is retarded

Remember this was 40 years ago. Even the core of elder Millennials who still browse this board were babies or not born yet. And in hindsight I can feel bad for some dumb housewife looking for answers after her son blew his brains out.

And weirdly enough there's a lot of interesting rabbitholes you can go down with regards to satanism. The Finders being stumbled upon by a Florida detective and a customs guy and the feds burying the case. The army's top psychological warfare expert being high priest of the Temple of Set. The Moloch statue in Bohemian Grove. Epstein island. Horrible occult murders(Elyse Pahler, the Nightstalker in LA, etc).

I'm not necessarily implying a conspiracy, but it is interesting how Evangelical dorks always crop up make anyone concerned about the occult look ridiculous by picking random pop culture shit to tilt at (DnD, Pokemon, Taylor Swift, etc).

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Why do you call group initiative "BECMI initiative system" when it's when it was introduced twelve years earlier in Chainmail and is the rule in AD&D and B/X as well?
>>
>>97176754
Just blob monsters together.
1 mini = 5 monsters of the same type.
Each mini has the combined hp and all the attacks of all its monsters, but will decrease its number of attacks as you decrease it's hp, for instance if that type of monster has 5 hp and you deal 5 hp, then it deals one less attack per turn.

In the end you realize that magic, like power, is quite relative. Relative to accessibility, so too.

The true wizards at the end of the day are those of mastery and vision. Geniuses. They make new worlds. New Paradigms. Such as whoever decided to mass produce scrolls.

Eventually everyone gets access to the magic, and the magic becomes something else.

How do you guys like this game? I’ve read a good chunck of the setting and there are some problems;
> “Everything is fucked…except only the inner rim because the gay space communism in the rim is great”
> consistent dark text on dark background
> HEAVY crunch
I’ve mitigated a bit by using the FATE system conversion and making the setting a bit more nuanced but outside of those the setting seems rather unique. And given it’s all basically free it’s a good deal even with the “in your face” nature of the politics. But what do you fa/tg/uys think?
>>
I'd rather read a game by a commie than by a centrist neoliberal.
>>
>>97178136
1e or 2e? I think it has great ideas but is ultimately ruined by le singularity monsters and ayys
>>
>>97178152
That’s fine, but when it’s overly obnoxious to the point of undermining the point of the game it’s detrimental.
Even a game like Disco Elysium made by the most theory thumping tanky can realize the flaws inherent in a system. Compounding that with a near extinction level event and persistent problems with other factions and its a shame to not also make the obvious decentralized nature of varying groups a Boone and detriment in the setting (sure you’ll be all for one one for all when a major polity rolls in, but you’re #1 target for criminals who don’t want to mess with the big boys)
>>
>>97178203
That's actually a really interesting point. Thanks anon!

It's kinda sad the current waste potential of the game's lore. Ok, got it, devs are aiming for a mudcore between the classical factions of the abrahamic religions.

But imagine how could would be adding an "Interpretatio Graeco-Romana" to them (I mean, right now Irish pagans exist in the lore as good guys).

Example: Beelzebub
>for abrahamics
>the "lord of flies"
>the second after Satan (Ares? (Satan - adversary in hebrew; Ares - ruin, curse in doric)
>lord of Ekron, destroyer of Avignon
>creator of plagues

>for his followers
> Ba’al Zebûl, "Lord of the Heavenly Dwelling"
>Zeus Myiagros, protector against plagues and flies, patron of doctors and cures
>Greco-Roman God or eu-demon ("good spirit")

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Starting off with my House of Wisdom takwin homunculus that will be kitted out with Massive Size, Human Hands, Terrifying Appearance, Startling Speed and two swords.
The mini has placeholder weapons from one of my Court Hellknights right now while the swords are getting a second layer of base paint as i brainfarted en completely forgot to base them when i did the last batch.

95% of getting the dungeon synth feel is GM descriptions and player involvement. You'd want rules that reward exploration and skill use. You don't want too much combat, barely any in fact but when it happens it has to be meaningful

Greyhawk was the default setting for D&D.

It fell out of favor in 3e for equal parts retarded and awesome.
3e's Greyhawk setting was a living setting that's world state and current history was shaped through official organized play sessions with characters, adventure outcomes, and major plots evolving from those sessions. This was some god tier stuff. In an effort to gatekeep the hell out of it, there was no official online database and event organizers kept the current events as tightly guarded as nuclear launch codes. It isn't uncommon for 3e players to be completely unaware of the events going on. The Living Greyhawk idea even extended to locales tied to your IRL physical locations. So your party of chucklefucks out of Florida were doing shit on the other side of Greyhawk completely independent of some other party in Washington state also having their own adventures. This shit was meticulously documented and would influence the overall plot and final adventure state of big official convention games that your crew might even be a part of if you made it there. Your characters were also vetted through all of this.

It was possibly one of the biggest shared gaming states in the history of table top and it was so heavily guarded in the earlier days of the Internet a lot of it has been lost to time.
>>
>>97170663
Do you have any summary documents of the big finale for these events? Like, how did they influence the campaign setting?
>>
>>97170663
>It fell out of favor in 3e for equal parts retarded and awesome.
Maybe I'm just misunderstanding you but Greyhawk really lost favor in 2e, even though they kept publishing a book or two for it now and then. 3E was what brought Greyhawk back in as the default setting, that's why they did Living Greyhawk and all. What really undermined it was the FR campaign setting hardback selling way beyond expectation, IIRC, so they de-facto switched back to 2E's use of FR as the default setting and continued to barf out a truckload of supplements for it in the best 2E style.

>>97172976
NAYRT but I don't think there was ever a big finale, it was just allowed to fizzle out.
>>
Forgotten Realms has become so oversaturated at this point, there really isn't anything left to cover.

I hope that Greyhawk's new write-up in the 2024 DMG means that we may get a few new books. Give us a new Campaign Setting book and a couple of different region books.

I would love to see a resurgence of Greyhawk as a setting.

I made my 5e table switch to 3.5. We've been having so much fun.
Perks of being a forever-DM!

But I'm a fag and some of my players are trans, and we all prefer 3.5 over PF?
Does that mean we get our gay cards revoked?

Does that mean all generals on the board can be merged?

>your melee character won't even be able to pin any of these opponents to a fight without caster support.
This is essentially the problem with the entire conversation, and comes up in these white room theory discussions. The party is supposed to work with and support each other; its the unfortunate autists who can not comprehend teamwork.

Seconding this vote. It's increasingly clear that the PFfag is just here to shit up the general as well.
